Honestly I just watched both of them and one of the things I loved most was how they wrote the characters. It actually makes sense how Peter and Gwen like each other because they're pretty similar, as opposed to in the older movies it's just the nerdy kid gets the pretty girl next door. People complain about Peter being "too confident" or something in this movie and after watching...is he? He doesn't have any friends lol. Obviously they're not perfect movies but I really enjoyed them more than I thought I would (especially TASM2).

i’ve always loved how heroic they feel. i remember feeling so terrified every time i saw the lizard in tasm 1 and seeing peter win felt so good. the music, the visuals, and the performance all made spider man feel like a HERO to me. i grew up in an era where i was able to enjoy both the raimi trilogy and tasm movies and i loved both of them so much for different reasons, but there was something that just resonated so well with me in the amazing spider-man movies.

I like that this channel & Implicitly Pretentious (in terms of Spider-Man related content) don't put one of the three versions of the character on a pedestal like I tend to see most Spider-Man essays do. Because at the end of the day, despite the differences from the comics to the big screen, they still play their version of Spider-Man very well.

Couldn’t agree more with this video but dang I can’t agree tasm 1 suit being a monstrosity. Loved how different tasm 1 suit was and it actually almost looks like something that you would make at home instead of looking like a thousand dollar suit. Also can’t forget about the web shooters how they lit up when activated. One of my favorite suits. Tasm 2 is my favorite.

The show down at the power grid station in TASM2 is so awesome, the way it showcases Spider-Man's speed and agility is stuck in my brain, also I'm with you on the suit design in that film, it's probably my favorite live action suit. Tobey's is cool, Tom's is more of a classic design, but Andrew's just is more cool looking imo

I feel like the TASM movies are the go to movies to hate and everyone says that they're the worst but I personally would choose either movies over Tom's and thats just my preference. Aside from the studio interference, the action scenes are immaculate, the web swinging is beautiful, the relationship between Peter and May or Peter and Gwen feels so real and the emotional stakes are daunting. Also the 2 suits are some of my favourite live action suits

It was already good enough when you defended MCU Spider-Man last year (Tom Holland's my favourite Live-Action Spider-Man/Peter Parker and Homecoming and Far From Home are my favourite Spider-Man Movies) and now you're defending the Amazing Spider-Man? Awesome! I needed this as some airhead on KZbin told me that people shouldn't trust me since I like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 better than Into the Spider-Verse. I really liked Andrew Garfield as BOTH Spider-Man AND Peter Parker and not only is The First Amazing Spider-Man my 3rd favourite Spider-Man Movie, but is also in my top 20 favourite superhero movies (That's how much I love it!) and the 2nd one, while definately a step down from the first one, I still really liked and the positives I have for it far outweigh any negative I have.

in gwen's death scene peter shoots web and there's a close up of the web opening up trying to reach for her the web in that is like a hand trying to reach for her as if its a part of peter. its a small detail but I love when movies give attention to detail and thought others should see it too.

I definitely think there's a nostalgia bias in the hate towards the Amazing duology. Almost exactly a year ago I was 2 days away from watching No Way Home in the cinema and knowing the leaks that Toby and Andrew's Spidermen would be in it, I sat down and watched all 5 of their movies FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER back to back across those 2 days. I'd never seen any of them outside of clips from Toby's trilogy used in memes. I was aware of the consensus that Andrew's were the worst going in too. The outcome... I enjoyed every single one, and I wouldn't have said any of them were bad. I do think Amazing 2 was the worst, but not bad. However the real surprise to me given the stigma towards the Amazing films, was that Amazing 1 ended up being my favourite out of all 5 films. I enjoyed Andrew's Peter, Spidey and Gwen's character and their relationship way more than I did for Toby and MJ. When it got to watching No Way Home I'd also rewatched Tom's first and second movies again in the daytime before seeing it in the evening. You'd think I might get Spidey-fatigue but even after 8 films in less than 48 hours I still enjoyed every second of it. But to link to my point, in the scene where Andrew's Spidey comes through the portal I recognised his suit from the moment it appeared and I was physically shaking with excitement. I have no shame in saying I was way more hyped to see him than when Toby appeared (unlike my friends who I was with) (and no hate to Toby, I loved his films too). I do think it was tragic that they didn't finish the trilogy because the ending of Amazing 2 is so heartbreaking which is partially why I liked it less but in no way does that make it a bad movie.

These movies were always my favorite take on Spider-Man and they felt relatable to me as a kid and even more relatable as a teenager/young adult and I vividly remember losing my mind when I saw Andrew again in No Way Home

What I loved about the amazing spider-man movies is 1. The suit both suits the first one was incredible and new, the second one well you all know the answer to that suit, 2. The swinging and action, 3. The relationship with Peter and gwen but also with Peter and may like I love how she is being the mother who is trying to do it all while also trying to pick her son back up when he's fallen like her role as aunt may felt realistic. And 4. The dark human stories where even two of his villian had a dark story max been ignored and treated like nothing all his life and conner lost his arm and felt half alive those villains went through a dark path because of the life they had and Peter knows exactly how dark life can feel and I like how the 3 of them took a different turn both max and conner became villains while Peter became a hero because he has people to have his back and to remind him of the man he know he has the capability to be.

It's like all the children and adults that read spiderman all have different personalities, and different views but they all resonate with the same theme and I think that's nice. Let's be honest. People who hate the TASM movies just say it's bad because Tobey's spider man movies just ended or just don't like the actors(or you actually have a reason) Andrew is my fav since his first movie came out but then I dislike him only to love him before nwh was a thing. The issue with the amazing Spider-Man is that A lot of people heard and learned about the mass studio interference and flip flop of Spider-Man 4 and it’s sad cancellation. It was a reboot no one asked for and right out the gate it was examined with Sony as the bad guy and every decision they made appearing 10X’s worse right down to using the villain most assumed would be the main baddie in Spider-Man 4 now being here. If the amazing Spider-Man came out today having double digit years between the raimi trilogy… it would be perceived better. I don’t love the amazing Spider-Man movies at all but I do appreciate them and believe Andrew Garfield should be the Spider-Man to go against Tom Hardy’s venom. The MCU Spider-Man has been a let down it’s a little sad to see the hype and excitement for the movie being all put on the OG villains and possibility of seeing tobey and Andrew suit up… All that matters for a movie is if you personally like it or hate it because that’s your opinion and thoughts.

I personally believe that people were so disheartened by Toby being replaced, that it kinda blinded them to any good these movies had to offer. This is an extremely hot take, but TASM 2 is my favorite movie of all time. It might not be perfect, but it has heart, and I wish more people saw that. I'm just glad that there are other people out there that appreciate these movies.

Holy shit everything you just said echoed and mirrored my thoughts. Especially how the internet’s uniform thought on TASM franchise being shitty and I almost began to believe that. Except whenever I wanted to watch Spider-Man scenes on KZbin, I always kept seeking Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Why? Why would i seek those scenes out when everyone said it was the worst?
