Just bought my first ever motorcycle -- a Vulcan 1500 Classic -- and I love it. My friends were like, "Isn't that kinda big for a beginner's bike?" But I'm a big person so I wanted a big bike! It is heavy, though, so I'm still learning how to do slow u-turns which are kind of tricky with all that weight. But its so fun just to cruise on. Mine's old (1998) so I've had to do some repairs to it -- the shifter had some issues and a previous owner added an aftermarket set of running lights so the signal blinkers were wired all goofy, so that had to be fixed, but now she's all good and I love it. I'm 59 years old and never realized how much fun riding is until a friend talked me into buying a bike, and now I'm addicted. Love my Kawi!

I own this same bike and I LOVE IT!!! I've been on bikes since 6yrs old (I'm now 55yrs young) and my father owned a Yamaha, Honda, and Hodaka dealership. Me and my 2 older brothers raced motocross and flat track using highly modified Honda 4 strokes and almost stock Kawasakis. I have owned many street bikes and can honestly tell you this is THE MOST COMFORTABLE road bike I've ridden hard thru canyons, in & out of traffic etc. I bought it for it's looks alone, but was very suprised at how well it handled. This machine defies all laws to achieve this: big fat rear tire, skinny front tire. This bike reads your mind. I can ride it faster, safer, and easier thru corners than any crotch rocket! I added Vance & Hines exhaust, fuel re-mapping, and Cobra intake w/K&N filter. It's beautiful. Looks similar to a good scoop on a muscle car. It will smoke any sportster, Honda 1100, and I recently kicked the shit outta a Roadstar (1600 or 1700cc ?) in a 1/4 mile run. I will never sell this jewel. Well done Kawasaki.

The 2007 Vulcan 900 custom was my first motorcycle (adult male). Watching this video brings back fond memories. I loved how those handlebars and front wheel looked. I always kinda had to squint when I glanced at the bizarre rear fender though. I had it a year and put around 7K miles on it. The size of it seemed a little big and intimidating at first, but it wasn't too much. It was a good beginner bike for me and I didn't outgrow it too fast. I liked it a lot, but what always bothered me about it was how high the RPM ran on the highway doing 60-70mph. I put aftermarket pipes on it that were a little louder than stock which turned out to be a mistake. The high RPMs on the highway with the louder pipes got really obnoxious. It also seemed like the valve train was very clickity clackity and noisy at idle. Nothing was wrong with it, that's just how it sounded. I sold it and I don't miss it much. I took a break from riding for a while, but now I have a 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 (stock pipes). I LOVE it. It came with the 41T rear sprocket and it runs high RPMs on the highway like the Vulcan 900 did, but the Honda engine feels smoother to me than I remember the Vulcan 900 feeling. Less vibrations it seems like, but maybe I don't recall completely. Well I just changed the rear sprocket on the Honda to a smaller 38T which settled down the RPMs quite a bit and now it feels even better on the highway. Even doing 80mph on it doesn't feel bad to me. I think I like the Shadow 750 more than I did my Vulcan. But if you are interested in the V900, don't let me dissuade you. It's a great bike and it gave me no problems. I may have just been pickier in my Vulcan days. And I haven't had the Shadow as long as I did the Vulcan yet.

I bought my Vulcan 900 LT Classic in '06 brand new. Still riding it. Has 54K miles on it and still running smooth. Replaced the stock seat, ( it was horrible) with a mustang seat, Kuryakyn grips, had to replace the windshield, (got cracked in an accident, nothing major, I rode the bike home), added Cobra Dragsters and eventually had to replace the stator. I have started to consider getting a new bike, but it is so hard to give this one up. Anyone looking for a good beginning to intermediate cruiser, this is the bike! It has good power, long wheel base, good for long rides, great handling, Low enough to fit most any rider without having to balance on tip toes but not too low for those on the taller side (I'm 6'2") you're not going to pay out the nose for it, it's rock solid and will give you many man many years of enjoyment. Caveats, the gas gauge will hover around empty for a while so I go by the odometer. You get about 200+ miles on a single tank. It doesn't like 87 octane gas (backfires) so I put in 93, and Kawi speedometers are notorious for reading about 4% higher than you are actually going, some forums say 11%. So if your speedometer says 60, it's more like 55-56. I have checked it with those Remote radars that cops setup on roads.

got my 2010 custom a month ago in australia with 4,500 miles on it, love it, i've only had older carbie bikes since i got my licence 3.5 years ago. Came from a beat up 2000 suzuki katana 750, while i miss the top end and stronger acceleration, the bottom end, fuel economy/range and reliability are far more important on the road as a daily driver with my bike as my main vehicle. Torque is far better in traffic for quick takeoffs up to regular road speeds and hill starts as there's less lag than a smaller sport bike off the line and having lower revs on the highway is just more comfortable. I can strongly recommend a vulcan in good condition, they have build quality and are a pretty simple yet modern bike that should just keep on chugging along for many years.

I own the same bike same year and im so glad i brougt it. Best bike hands down. But best bag for your buck definitely a bike you can grow into. Instead of buying a rebel or equivalent and then regretting not buting something larger. The Vulcan 800 is a wonderful choice. The only issue and its really a non issue is the transmission shifting is a bit clunky, but eventually did smooth out after i put some miles on the bike. Really though it wasnt a problem just seemed odd for such a non issue no problem bike. Just a great rider. Turn the key pull the choke and once its warm in minutes the bikes a runner all day no worries. Good on gas very comfortable for the size and type of bike. Yes there are better long distance riders for another 12 to 20 thousand. But for putting 100 to 200 miles on a day no worries i have a bad back and i am fine riding. Good pick up and take off when needed, just a great all around cruising bike period. Plus all kinds of custom add on's to make it personal to your taste.

Oh good, you HAVE ridden a Honda Shadow. I used to have an '85 Shadow 500 and have never found a bike I liked more. What I was wondering as I look at the Kawasaki Vulcan is the handlebar. The Shadow had the "buckhorn" shaped handlebar while the Vulcan seems to have a wide spacing handlebar. Now I know the Shadow was VERY comfortable for me but how do you feel when you compare the two different shaped handlebars? If I remember correctly, the Shadow buckhorn kept my elbows in a more down position. But, the Vulcan handlebars have your elbows splayed out wide. Doesn't that wide grip get tiring in the shoulders and arms?

Nice video. Thanks. I have heard a lot of good about Vulcans. Nice to see one in action. I have been wanting to upgrade to a slightly more modern, FI metric cruiser (1999 Shadow 1100 now). This looks like a good way to go. I'm sure it has as much or more power than mine, and is probably a bit lighter. The exhaust sound is about perfect, to me, and the bars do look comfy. It annoys me that so few cruisers have tachs, but i guess u gotta live with it. I might veer toward the bigger brothers in the line, but this definitely looks worthy. Thanks again.

I have a 2009 VN900 and I LOVE it! I'm 6'4" and north of 370lbs and it moves me and the occasional rider just fine. I might one day get a 1700 but if this is the only bike I ever own I'll be happy.

l have a 06 Vulcan 900 and I love it, Im 5"10 250 and it pulls me along effortlessly. I have ridden it as long as 6 hours in a single day and was comfortable. Factory seat isnt great but a gel pad helped, All else is great I still am amazed that how in North America its a mid size bike but around the world its a monster.

When the yellow fuel light comes on you have about 40 more highway miles before you are walking. Never sit at a red light in neutral. The windshield looks how mine would if would ever wash the bugs off of it. I love my VN900C.
