The community manager of GSC GW responded to this video on their post on r/stalker: "We love most, if not all, the games that you've mentioned in the video, but as much as we want to make the Zone more appealing to the mainstream audience, the fact that we are based across the globe from the studios that are making these games heavily influences our vision of the gaming trends. While S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will definitely be different from the previous installments (a lot of time has passed, technology has evolved, yadda yadda yadda) the unique cultural imprint that every developer is carrying just won't allow us to make the game identical to what our colleagues are making. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was always about loneliness, the struggle for survival, and being just a cog within a grand mechanism, inner workings of which cannot be comprehended by a regular human. It's a feeling many of us can relate to and we hope to let you in on our perception of this feeling."

Honestly, one of my favorite examples of this game not caring about me was when I got a mission from Duty to kill an enemy VIP in the Dark Valley. This was in the Call of Chernobyl mod, and I was just your run of the mill Clear Sky soldier. I fought the military in the swamp, gunned down bandits in the Cordon, kicked freedom ass while pushing through contested territory between them and Duty, etc. Every time I would either have to play my engagements carefully or hole up in a building and take pot shots outside of it while almost always walking away beaten to shit. So when I got to the Dark Valley, I immediately started moving towards the bandit base, when a Pseudogiant decided that my shit was unfucked and wanted to remedy that. Took a whole bunch of mags but I took it down, and then proceeded to make my way back to the enemy base. The whole fight in the base was me taking out the front guards, sniping as many people as I can, pushing in, falling back into a tower, and holing myself up in the tower like a the boogeyman hides in the closet. Took a while but I killed every bandit in the base and just barely came out alive, and decided it was time to go looting to make a profit. Found their armory, and while I was in the building I got a notification. "Defend the base from mutants." I was all alone. In an enemy base. Where I had just murdered everyone defending it. And the game just told me a horde of mutants were about to come barging in to realign my chakras. Needless to say I decided it was time to run. Unfortunately the horde of dogs outside disagreed. The only reason I lived was because I fell back into a building with military soldiers, and because of my actions on Duty's behalf and my constant killing of freedom and bandits, they were at the very least neutral towards clear sky now. So in other words, if I hadn't been such a duty fanboy, I might have ended up with a squad of really well equipped military soldiers unloading their guns into my chest as a horde of dogs wanted to eat my soul. The game didn't save me because I was important, it was just a series of unfortunate events that I only managed to survive due to previous technically unconnected actions, and even then it was by the skin of my teeth.

In Stalker its not your character or destiny that makes you survive insurmountable odds, its planning, preparation, and a healthy supply of good luck. Very few games have had me stop mid "dungeon" realizing I'm out of resources and not as well equiped as I thought before leaving and grinding for better equipment before coming back. Stalker makes you consider the dangers of just moving to the next region, and if you are unprepared on anything, you're going to be lost to the zone real quick

For the last two weeks, I've been playing "STALKER Anomaly" (the greatest thing that happened to the STALKER universe since the original games) - after spending another week installing about 60 mods into it to make the world even more brutal and unforgiving than it already was. My first steps in the game were: Walk through the Rookie village to get the tutorial mission - get killed by two dogs that wandered into the village. Reload and hide while the dogs kill TWO other stalkers before being put down. Get tutorial mission to kill a few boars. Get one-shot killed by a single boar instantly. Try again and let the totally-strong-and-important (TM) village guardian go first. Boars kill him, then chase me into the village and wreak havoc before killing me. After several more reloads and several failed strategies I found a way to climb into an old car and kill the boars without them being able to reach me. Fetch an artifact as the second part of the tutorial. Get such a dose of radiation, that I barely make it back. Sell EVERYTHING I JUST EARNED just to get healed and not die. Finally walk away from the Rookie village. An emission hits and I have to sprint back to the village and take shelter. Wait out the emission, sit at the village campfire, listen to another STALKER play the guitar and contemplate #1 how totally and utterly fucked I am, #2 why I am doing this shit to myself, and #3 how totally and utterly awesome this game is. This was day 1 of my current playthrough - day 1 of the true STALKER experience. Anything less in the next game and it won't be STALKER.

Idk, I like everything else about Anomaly but it feels like everything's price is inflated just to be a pain. I enjoy the struggle of the actual fights, anomalies, mutants, survival, etc. But not the weapon, armor, or repair kit prices. I feel like a Mosin shouldn't be that much more than a good pistol (look at how cheap a Mosin IRL is compared to a Beretta 92 or CZ75) yet if I have the money for one I might as well save for a better weapon because they aren't really much more expensive. Maybe it's more the curve of prices for lower tier equipment that bothers me more than all prices. Maybe it's because I rarely am able to find artifacts even if I go hunting right after an emission, and have literally never found one with an echo detector which is why a better detector is usually my first major purchase in game. This is why I think games need to focus on atmosphere. I think one of the reason breath of the wild is so good is that unique fantasy setting, and this is why I think cyberpunk still has potential. Overall, I think environment is so important in creating a good game

ALRIGHT, so I only learned literally while uploading this video...that the “Complete" 2012 mod that I've been using...adds fast travel, which I literally spent a decent portion of this video insisting shouldn’t be in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, at least not without making it super obtuse and a pain to use. I didn’t use fast travel, of course, because I was unaware the mod added such a sickening feature. I just wanted no more bugs and prettier graphics, is that so much to ask for? As it stands, this is a crappy oversight, which shouldn’t detract from the thesis of the video. I was looking forward to making just *one* Stalker video without a major mistake, but I guess I can’t have nice things... There's also my omission of the guides in CS and CoP, sorry about that. The point still stands, considering that the feature is obtuse and still requires something from the player... as is tradition. Also, I have a Discord server, if you wanna join and make fun of me: discord.gg/2BB9Tx7

@Kwa-Tzu3 жыл бұрын
Hello fellow stalker. I don't know how, but you seem to be unaware of our bravest men called "guides". In Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat they function as a fast travel. It's also worth mention, that in Call of Pripyat every leader of a squad, that has neutral or friendly attitude towards you, can be asked to "travel as a group", even to specified location. It's a "fast travel" option inside one location, between more important places. I hope you will be aware now about hard working guides that risk their life to make a travels less dangerous. Anyway, good hunting stalker!

Just got this video suggested, watched and came to two conclusions: This is a really good video, like, not the kind of thing I see everyday in youtube. Analogue to stalker, its unique, has character and passion put into it. It's weird how it made me feel mainly two things: Happy to find a really good yet STILL small channel with great content and at the same time sad, for I have a channel myself (not this one), I've planned videos with stalker as subject and they will never be as polished as this one. Keep up the great work pal, this channel is going far soon enough. Cheers

I'm currently playing SoC on my PS5 and I'm so insanely in love with this franchise now. I really hope there isn't fast travel, a vehicle to help you get around just a little quicker sure, but not being able to have the fast travel is so terrifying to me, also Darkwood *chef's kiss* 10 outta 10 for making the player feel like they are just another piece of garbage that means nothing just trying to survive like everyone else. Stalker nails that itch that ive been missing in video games now a days, it fills that empty hole that is the desperate instinct of self preservation that video games are lacking now a day. That feeling of, oh i could go into that building there but i dont have to because there could be a bloodsucker or chimera lerking around any corner in there, so I'm *NOT* going in there because i want to live, but I really want to know what's in there, and no matter how good your equipment is, you can absolutely get bodied in an instant if you walk in there. That is the feeling a survival game should give you, especially an open world one.

In the first dark souls. The first part of the you can't fast travel. And yes, it can be a pain, especially when you're cursed. I like the first part because you need to get ready to survived what is ahead of you and find the better path to get to the point. But when you unlock teleportation it is all gone you just need to remember which bonfire the merchant is.

There's an Easter egg or two that mention Clear Sky, but they're not in CoP. (It's still plenty worth playing, though.) One thing I love about STALKER is the significance that comes with each action. Each bullet I shoot has the potential to end a life, or save one. If I shoot this mutant now instead if knifing it, I might really be wishing I had those bullets later. Same thing if I do knife the mutant - I use a medkit now that might come in handy in 10 minutes after I end a gunfight. Each item is so significant, and everything costs rubles. Nothing is free or easy to get, and nothing is trivial. You are on the same level as the other bandits and stalkers that will try to gun you do an and snatch your shit.
@hughfungus12543 жыл бұрын
So there is a way that they could implement fast travel into stalker 2 without completely breaking the game I believe. If you remember in the stalker games there were guides that would take you to another part of the map for a small fee. If they just did that instead of like a Skyrim kind of fast travel then I think I’d be fine with that.
