PLTR is the best ticker in my portfolio. I also have been running the wheel strat since it was it was $15. Doing this strategy also helped me keep and protect my shares longer than if I just bought and tried to stomach the volatility. I like playing both sides like you’re talking about. Nobody knows where a stock is going. Depends on how aggressive you are. Buy outright, or sell puts near the money, or sell puts with low delta. Or some combination.

Henry, what are your thoughts on the Wash Sale tax rule when actively trading a stock, especially when doing option spreads. I noticed in my account for this year, I have over 10k in disallowed losses.

With options, you can easily avoid a wash sale as long as you use a different expiration date, since each option is treated as its own distinct security. For example, if you incurred a loss on an AAPL 140 put expiring on September 20, you can use a different strike price or expiration date for your next trade. It's essential to keep track of which options resulted in a loss so you don't use them again for the next 31 days after the loss.The beauty of options trading is that you have numerous strike prices and expiration dates to choose from for liquid stocks, unlike with individual stock symbols. if you have 1000$ don't start trading options. Yes, you saw it right, just don't. Invest in ETF's like QQQm or S&P500, and mag7 stocks like AAPL or GOOGL until you accumulate like 7k - 10k at least. But Ideally 40-50k cuz that's where you can trade S&P500's options(the safest ones). But there are exceptions everywhere, just be mindful. I suggest you watch Tom Nash's videos, and Invest with Corey's videos they are quite good. Good Luck, 40 yr mom.

Love the video as it confirms what I am already doing. I am 51 retired earlier this year and this strategy pays the bills. I also own PLTR in my retirement account but sell puts and calls in my cash account for income. Be careful with CSP. You need to have the cash to do 1 contract. Henry has $3+ millions. He can afford to sell 32 Puts….do not follow this guy blindly. He can lead you to a big big hole! Be careful.

"You need to have the cash to do 1 contract" That's literally in the name CASH Secured Put. Your risk is minimal with CSPs. You should be happy if you're put the stock. If the chance of getting put Palantir frightens you, then you shouldn't sell CSPs on Palantir in the first place.

So as i understand it, if you sell covered calls and they are in the money during expiration, the underlying stock will get called away. To prevent that you will have to roll the covered calls to a later date while adjusting the price.

PLTR has been a great stock, but the wheel strategy blows. SO many other better ways to trade. Wheel is so misleading to newbies. It is great until you become a bag holder. If you have a large account and can withstand the drawdown-- it is fine. But why go through that pain. Look at how many people who blew up their accounts using the wheel in 2022...

well what do you trade then? wheel is the safest one(if you believe in stock of course). rather than doing other fancy strategies where you can get 10$ but lose all 35$ I'd prefer doing wheels.

I agree with that. Only do the wheel on stocks you want to own. If you don't want to own them long term and that's the key, long term then of course you will be a bag holder. Msft nvidia intel meta google will not be going anywhere and I don't mind being a bag holder for msft in 10 years.

Really fun to learn about this. Sold my first put option 9/27 7.50 of SoFi a couple weeks ago and pocketed 20 bucks. This might take a while :). I like the idea of selling a put option for palentir as described in the video but as I think you mentioned, there may be a little downside in that if selling a cash-secured put the a 3 month expiration, one has to keep $3K tied up for this time period in the event they get assigned? If the option expires, 5% over 3 months is still about 4 fold better than current high yield savings so perhaps no so bad in this regard? It may be a downer if the underlying stock increases in value greater than 5% in the same time period without the option being assigned but still making money.

That's really a personal choice on what your goal per trade is. I go for 7%. So if I got assigned at 30, covered call for 32, 3-4 weeks out. Make 2$ a share+ premium. Then work the wheel.

Less extrinsic premium but I’ve done it before. Just need to be prepared if it goes down and you take assignment which is a higher risk due to the lower extrinsic value that you started with.
