Absolutely loving your channel! I appreciate how real and honest you are with how you feel daily. It’s soooo nice to have someone to relate to. I’ve been feeling very alone with this journey… and I wish I could have one good day back. I am a type a personality and HAD been very motivated and active. Sadly… my hashi dictates my day. I get no medical advice, so I thought I should “ push through” my days…which I have learned made me worse the next day. It’s gonna take awhile to figure things out. God bless.

So glad my channel is helping you! Trust me, you are NOT alone in being a Type A pushing through with Hashi's. I think the majority of us are the same way, so it's definitely a mindset shift along with the physical shifts to get to a place where you can live well with this disease.

thanks for being open and honest about feeling irritable... It can be hard when I don't feel good to see the chirpy, happy, I'm so healthy videos of people feeling great when you don't and resentment is too easy and omg, thanks for saying that you felt lack of motivation... need to nap... I was thinking why the hell do I feel WAY less energy, after eating AIP. I guess cuz I'm tired. Inflamation. Speech problems. Reoccuring sore throat. So many links. Bless you.

Ah the irritation!! It should definitely go away but it's so annoying to feel annoyed, isn't it? haha. Have you watched this video too? (What to know before doing AIP) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jp7RaWqjgs9piZI It also talks a lot this sort of stutt you might be encountering. Hang in there - it does get better!!

I have microscopic colitis and I’m trying to do a very strict AIP because I’m not sure what foods affected me. I love your recipes and will use all that I can.

sure is. Even now I feel like I need to choose some days. Definitely hard to strike a balance.

Lack of motivation, energy or fatigue is where I am right now 😣 Though I have experience better energy with elimination of gluten and dairy. Its a month now and I started to feel sluggish again. Maybe because when I met the Naturopath doctor he has given me more restrictive list of food not to eat. I was barely eating much this week. Waiting for the Functional Med appointment next week.

I've heard to be careful with coconut products. Any idea why?
@MicheleSpring6 жыл бұрын
I think some people have sensitivities to it, so it's definitely something they should avoid. Coconut itself is also high in inulin fiber, which can cause a bacterial overgrowth if you eat large quantities of it and often. And coconut does contain phytic acid, which can rob the body of nutrients. It's not as bad as grains, but it is something to keep in mind if you eat large quantities of it. (Typically phytic acid isn't bad unless you eat tons of foods containing it, which is pretty normal in a Standard American diet full of grains, but not as much in a Paleo or AIP-style diet)

Thank you for the information. I'm trying to do an elimination diet for the next 3 weeks and couldn't decide if I should not eat it and then reintroduce it later.

I wouldn't worry about taking it out unless you don't feel better at the end. If at that point you still feel terrible then it's worth looking at removing as well.

Thanks for the help! I am on Day 6 and pain is not better. Actually feels worse this morning. My diet was pretty clean before. How long till a change is seen?
@MicheleSpring6 жыл бұрын
It's pretty normal for it to be bad on day 6. In fact, I find it to be one of the worst days myself. It's just at that point where your body is completely confused on what you're doing, craving some of the things you've left behind (well, your gut bacteria is anyway) and trying to start healing all at the same time. I'd give it another week (I know, that sounds awful) but hopefully at that point you should have turned a corner. Remember, it's taken you years to get to the point you're at, a few days isn't going to correct it.

I've got a video where I go over the AIP-specific ones I recommend here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5aVYaiXjsmZga8 Healing Kitchen though is by far my fave. :-)

How are you holding up nowadays?

I'm doing well thanks! I have had a few setbacks personally where I've fallen back yet again to eating gluten-free convenience foods (like pasta and breads) but haven't (luckily) had any major flares. I think I've really learned that I can get away with it for a little while but as long as I come back to a nutrient-dense Paleo-ish style diet after straying for a while I do well. I also have learned that I REALLY have to manage stress as that has been a major factor in my flares as well, and I can "get away" with eating lesser quality foods more if I manage my stress. But the combo of stress and lesser quality foods is a NOT good combo!
