At the very least the games are getting more advanced and we're getting more features like online play and leaderboards, but still, its nuts. But the whole "they're just like toys" ... yeah? Thats kind of the point, they arent the big authentic originals, they're smaller, affordable replicas that are there to play and have fun. Great video; you make a lot of great points; thanks for the shout out by the way. I think 1up got a lot of people back into the hobby (so that's good) as well as a lot of newcomers. They haven't really evolved much, and now they're asking prices well beyond what I believe their product is worth. Unless the price increase matched the quality like you said in your video but as we know, that's just not the case. I'm going to start to suggest to people they either look at DIY solutions, Original Machines (if they have the skill set to repair them), or other Multigame solutions like a Atgames or iiRcade. At the end of the day, tastemakers, LLC specializes in toys, not video games or engineering. If anything, the other companies like iiRcade and AtGames have the advantage because they know what it takes to support technology products other than toys. I think the kink in the armor is that 1up is not a tech company and they're trying to learn to be one while scaling their business simultaneously, and the weakness is showing.
@CombatandCollecting3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate A1UP for awakening this hobby for me and trying to improve their product albeit at a turtles pace. It just comes down to value, unless you have unlimited resources or are just a plain fool it matters whether or not you can recoup some of the money put into a hobby. I’m lucky to get $200-$300 for some of the cabinets I’ve sold with a bunch of tasteful upgrades and mods on them. Parts is a huge problem, there’s a huge orange sticker on the monitor telling you not to return the item to the store if there is an issue, but…. Like how many Pac-Man cabinets can they keep coming out with, and you’re right?- these cabinets that are starting out at $600-$800?? Ridiculous. This is basically the same issue that modern day consoles (Playstation/Xbox/Nintendo "whatevers") have - and have had - for many years now, which is releasing product way too early simply because there is high demand. That means they are released with the knowledge (within the corps.) that the product is really NOT ready. I always tell fam and friends when the newest video game console is getting hyped for release to WAIT until they fix all the bugs that come with a rushed release. In some ways, it is the Consumers' fault for upping the demand, the "I NEED THIS NOW" chant. It forces the brands to put Something out in order to appease the thirst. The Rule: BE Patient. Whatever you wanted NOW, will probably be out later at a better price, with better options and with less bugs.

Glad you're able to afford real pinball tables. I know how much those cost, but you ARE investing in service, not just a machine. It's sad to see Arcade1up going down hill, like this. I've noticed the older machines are holding up much better than the newer ones. I've had to throttle back on my A1up collecting, because of the prices, and the fails I'm seeing from the other collectors, and users. It's just gotten way too expensive. I'm waiting on two more units, and then I'm done. If anything else comes into the home arcade, it's going to be a full sized multicade upright, and a full sized digital pinball. I'm on disability, so actual pinball is just a fantacy, that will never be realized, because I wasted all my money on Arcade1up's half inch particle board toys. Oh, here's another reason you shouldn't be interested: For that god awful price hike, you're getting the old NP monitors, now. The ones that have almost no contrast, are grayed out, and washed out. NOT the nice BOE monitors any more. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

You can, man shi* vs kid shi* but you are right the smaller size and multiple games do give it some advantages, but if you follow my rhyme and reason my feelings on Arcade1up is based on price hikes, crappy customer service, and now would include the recycling of previously released games.

@@TampaTec Sorry dude it is what it is. Anyone who does Research would know maintenance is KEY To keeping your Pinball machine running. You Purposely misunderstood what I was getting at for a Belittlement which is understandable. I have had my MVCA1UP the longest since Launch of 2020.... I have IL Sticks and Happ buttons and do my own wiring. I know A1up is labeled as a Toy, and is built in an economical way for the company but I also know through experience that every individual is different with how they take care of their things. Your reality is that what you love is cool and locked in time. Awesome stuff. Many people like myself prefer these Online Enabled Cabs, especially the many first time buyers who bit in to the company with online machines and prefer to either upgrade to an Online Version or jump ship to another platform that gives them Arcade Gaming and Online. So you can keep your Multi Thousand dollar machine, and make sure you are waxing your balls, and your field, not to mention fix the parts that are slammed by the ball consistently... Also, don't forgot to swap your balls after every what? 1000 plays? 100 play? You can tell I know a bit about maintence... Should I go and refresh my knowledge to make your point all the more stupid and obviously Half a Truth...?

Great observation, enjoyed the video. I love their Countercades (I thouroughly enjoy and play them all the time) but their Centipede Partycade came with an unusable trackball, a waste of nearly 300 bucks. Arcade 1Up's version of Space Invaders is a JOKE. Here's a question how can a tiny My Arcade toy Space Invaders has the Pepper's Ghost effect as done in the arcade version as well as a lighted marquee be done on a tiny unit while both versions of the Arcade 1Up's Space Invaders doesn't have this feature? Both the Countercade and 4 ft cab looks flat. My Arcades version cost 40 some buck while the Arcade 1Up versions are hundreds. I find myself playing these small My Arcade games more than I do the Countercades. I do agree Arcade 1Ups are power wheels.

Great video and I understand your frustrations. The machines do have a problem with being rocked around, this is especially noticeable when playing fighting games. It's a nightmare when a buddy is playing too rough with the joysticks. I like the cabinets that I have though. Honestly, it's the closest to having a legit game room, and I don't mind them because their size is convenient for me. I do hate how arcade1up is constantly recycling the game list they already released. They had a specific Marvel Super Heroes cabinet with Sanwa joystick/buttons (which I own) and they haven't returned with high quality buttons/joysticks since, but then they have the nerve to re-add Marvel Super Heroes (instead of a different game) to the Marvel Vs Capcom cabinet with crappier buttons. SIGH! Plus, the Legacy cabinets have uncomfortable control panels that you have rest your hands on.... And I agree that they didn't do themselves favors with raising the prices. other than that, I don't personally know anybody else who owns these, so that feels kind of cool... lol The only thing Arcade1up haven't cashed out on are the gun games like House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Lethal Enforcers, etc.. Big Buck received a lot of complaints about the cheap, low-quality guns, so I doubt they will step into gun games territory again lol
@CombatandCollecting3 жыл бұрын
I do like the size however, I wish someone would try a 4/5 scale. 3/4 is a bit too small. I use to own a Wrestlefest 4-Player and they do take up a lot of room for only having one game. At the end of the day it just comes down to value. At $700-$800 it's just not there for this gamer.
@mdchann3 жыл бұрын
@@CombatandCollecting Have you checked out the Neo Geo MVSX? The company making them, Unico, is going to start making them with better buttons and joysticks, plus a bigger stand. Also, it will be made in a way you can add games to it, or at least that's what I'm hearing.... Plus, the price will remain the same. Arcade1up needs to start doing this too! 3:00 I don't have any arcade1up cabs but you bring up an excellent point. IMHO the idea of these is to recreate the arcade experience from childhood now that people who grew up with those are a little older and have more disposable income than when they were 10 years old. And while there were a bunch of games that I played in the arcades there were only a select few that I remember or ever wanted to own. So all told I probably have fond memories of maybe 20 games at the very maximum. And as price continues to increase my list of games that I'm willing to buy gets shorter. Let's be real, we know that the A1U aren't the same as original arcade machines but for $400 people are willing to make compromises but at 800+ maybe some people just decide to build a mame cab instead. Depending on how many A1Us some people have already bought they might have been able to build a pretty nice mame cab if they had gone that route first.

Exactly, I was willing to overlook some things at $400 but as these cabs approach 1K its just not a great value especially since they eventually becomes man cave decorations.

My main issue was the controls. How are they going to make these with trash controls for years? I kinda blame the modding community for keeping this company afloat WAAAAY longer than it should have been. I'm sure they'll be out of biz within a year or two at this rate. UNLESS they change their pricing or offer quality equipment. Too small, too cheap, too expensive. Kids toys.

I hear your frustrations, I really do. And I understand that for You, price isn't the issue. But You have to understand that it makes a BIG difference. Stern "affordable" home versions are literally 10x the price of an A1up; you should expect 10x (or say, at least 5x) the customer service and quality. You say it isn't about the money, but that's where you're wrong. It is absolutely about the money. there was a Lexus dealer an hour from my home town - they would drive to a co-worker's car while she worked, change her oil, and have the car ready for her when her workday was done. BECAUSE HER CAR WAS SO OVERPRICED SHE PRE-PAID FOR THAT SERVICE. They didn't do it out of great customer service or kindness, that isn't how businesses run. You pay $400 for a cab and want the same service level as on a $4500 machine, you're just not looking at it right. You've got nearly $10k worth of pinball machines sitting there, next to what, a couple thou worth of A1ups? And just to be clear, I'm not saying it's ok for A1ups to be built poorly or to fall apart - the company's going to eat it big time if they start making complete junk, even at $400, much less at $700. But getting that mad about a part for a plastic or cardboard sign that goes on top of your NBA cab...that's weak sauce man, and you know it.
@CombatandCollecting2 жыл бұрын
It is weak sauce, and I could easily look past it at $500, but as prices increase. My level of expectations will only multiply. In the end Arcade1up can keep their Particle board and components that have more value in their shipping costs than it’s actual production value. I’ll put my money in other offerings.

My kids and I enjoy it. I don’t understand collecting so many. I feel after a year I would just say “what a waste of money” and wish I didn’t spend 300 plus on 5 plus arcade1up. I think a lot of those arcades you’ll play for a hand full of times and just let it collect dust. My kids are at an age where they constantly want to play it because it’s new and I play it for it’s nostalgic and something my friends and I can relate to.
