I am so happy for you,well done! I am a mature medical student, 3rd year, and I have been working in hospitals all my life. My straightforward decision is GP as well. With special interest in dermatology. You can perform minor operations and run a clinic a couple of times a week Thank you for the video🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s amazing to hear about your journey-your experience in hospitals must give you such a solid foundation. GP with a special interest in dermatology sounds like a fantastic choice, and it’s great that you can combine both clinical work and minor procedures. Wishing you all the best in your studies and future career! 😊

would love to see a vid on exactly how it works after you graduate - F1 F2...F3? Specialisation, locum, year out, going abroad.

I watched your video 4yrs ago when you compared Bmed to medicine and pathways to get to medicine. Your video inspired me. Am now a graduate with first degree in Bmed here in Ghana. Now I have strong affinity to study medicine. As a Ghanaian finance is a major barrier to study medicine. I will be glad if you unveil to me scholarship to study medicine as African outside my territory

☀️I’m currently a Registered Nurse (working part time) and a 1st Year Biomedical Science Student, working towards getting into Medical School. My dream medical specialty is working for the HEMs or join the Royal Flying Doctors service. But honestly I’m pretty open to all the medical specialties. I just know that I’m really passionate about medicine and want to work towards this goal :)

That’s fantastic!! All the best and I’m sure you’ll reach your goal :)

Thank you for this video. As a matter of fact I am in a similar place - need to decide which specialty to pursue. To my surprise I started thinking about family medicine because I hate the mess and ungodly work hours in the hospital. Although I am not sure if being a GP would satisfy my hunger for clinical medicine because the work might be too mundane.
@DoctorKenji4 күн бұрын
You could always do both! I still plan to locum in paediatrics and the other specialties I enjoy :) you could do part time GP part time whatever specialty you like
@JohnDoe-vu8ji4 күн бұрын
@@DoctorKenji you mean finishing family medicine and adding another specialty?
@DoctorKenji4 күн бұрын
@@JohnDoe-vu8ji I mean after finishing GP, you can still work as a junior doctor in other specialties that you’ve previously worked in as a foundation doctor. Like how now I work in paeds as an SHO, I can continue doing the same once I finish GP training

hey kenji, could you make a video on maintaining your relationship with your fiance throughout f1/f2 and onwards. I’m a current medical student and my girlfriend is a dental student and I’m worried that my future career as a doctor will negatively impact my future relationship. I’m hoping to become a dermatologist or Gp to have a good work life balance.

Thanks for the comment! I can understand your concern; balancing a demanding career and personal life can be tricky, but it’s doable with good communication and planning. As for dermatology, the main challenge is getting through the IMT1 and IMT2 years-they can be intense. But once you’re past that, life as a dermatologist becomes much more balanced, making it a fantastic choice for work-life harmony. GP is also a brilliant option for flexibility. Wishing you and your girlfriend all the best!
