The reason I love film photography especially is because it’s a beautiful and dangerous challenge where if you don’t apply your self in a special and passionate way it can easily show through the final product. When going through tough times I’ve always kept my canon AE-1 close to me and have always used it as a way to express my self creatively without even having to say a single word. The art of shooting, developing, and scanning makes it so much more intimate and rewarding. In the mist of adult hood, college, parenthood, grief and loss, changing careers, I’ve always desired the art of film to help ease the tensions that rise from the day to day tensions.

I am so stoked to watch this channels growth over the last few years. I stumbled into photography at the beginning of the pandemic and haven’t looked back. The reason that I love photography is because with the world ever changing photography has the ability to freeze those special moments and you have the ability to put your creative spin on how you see the world around you. The biggest reason I love photography is that it's become a social tool for me. Starting out in high school, I wasn't the most social butterfly. I love photography because it helps calm me down. Looking through the viewfinder, focusing on the composition, helps me forget about my anxiety. One of the reasons I love photography is simply the community around it. Tons of people who are just down to earth and willing to help out. I LOVE photography because my grandfather put me on the importance of capturing the moment. What he meant by that was, every second in life isn’t reversible until it’s captured. Everyone complains about how time flies or how they wished they could go back to a certain time and relive it….and that’s what made me fall in love with photography. Time and light that was captured by you and your camera. A still in life that will not be deleted (as long as you take care of it of course lol). A piece of plastic that you can always look back to and remember how you felt when you took the picture. The wind, the light, the smells all come back as soon as you look at that piece of film. Photography to me has taught me to slow down. It has taught me to take time to enjoy the beauty that I have all around me. I always thought the grass would be greener in a new city or different country and I would be a better artist if I went somewhere other than where I’m from. Through taking photos I realized all of those “aha” moments were happening all around me everyday. Taking photos and expressing myself through them has given me the outlet that I never knew I needed. Capturing genuine peace in a park, a friends smile on a birthday finding a picture from the past of a loved one. Photography being in my life has allowed me to live and breath those moments over and over. I love photography and hope that with my work I can continue to spread that joy to others!

This video inspired to shoot my 50D film rolls that are sitting in my fridge! Oddly enough, that’s why I love about photography: the inspiration. Whether it’s being inspired by other artists or by life itself, photography captures those feelings - it may even produce different feeling altogether when the photo comes out. Either way, I love shooting because I get to keep and build upon something that was into something is, hoping for something that will be!

i love photography bc it embodies individualism and perspective. i take pictures of what i deem to be cool & so does everyone else. it’s the truest form of self expression as your viewpoint on life can be told through your photos

I love photography because I live off memory. I scroll through photos I’ve taken every day, to bring me and other people happiness. They can bring you joy when you are in your worst spot in life. Love photography for simply its simplicity. You get to document real life but also add theatrical/aesthetic qualities to it. Not too much to where it's a film, but not too little where it's a photo from your phone.
