I been freeforming my hair since 08. Locs are a lifestyle not a hairstyle. Having locs meant you were on a Spiritual journey. In different cultures you see the people with locs were the Priests, the Nazarites, the Rastas, etc. These are our antennas & our hair is connected to our nervous system. It's another source of energy & how we interact with the Universe. Not to make this a race thing but you notice it's only one group of people who hair grows UP. Every other race their hair grows DOWN. Our hair grows UP towards the heavens & the constellations. Stay on your Spiritual path brudda. Oh yea I'ma give u a jewel. Watch the things u do & da energy u put out. Karma comes back harder when u on a Spiritual journey & you grow your locs. Your hair is energy. It's makes your aura stronger which makes the energy u put out stronger. So walk lightly my brudda & stay righteous.

This is one of the reasons why I grew my hair back out. I had locs for 8 years and I cut them in 2019 and a week later I felt I lost my power (metaphorically). I didn’t feel like myself. I’m 1.5 years in with a beard and I feel as connected as possible. Cam you’re a hero on and off the field my guy 🙌🏽

I started growing locs and after a year I cut if off and it felt like a part of me was gone. Literally all my life I've been on shorter hair but this time was different when I cut it I wasn't myself for a week, creatively I was out of my zone and there's this dedication, love and patience that growing your hair teaches you and I'm starting my hair journey again and hopefully I can stick to it despite the backlash and push back I'll receive from my parents

Thank you for your insight and beliefs regarding growing your hair. Also, thank you for attaching biblical scripture to support your understanding. I decided to grow my hair (locked) 2-3 years ago out of a need to not conform, change what I was doing, work towards greater heights, and stop being complacent with my professional career. I was angry, depressed, stressed about the direction and course my professional life was taking. So I grew my hair, enrolled in school, and worked towards my goal. The hair for me represented a need for patience, doing something different to achieve the desired goal, and pressing/having the strength to achieve despite the odds. Happy to report I graduate in May with my Master's degree. Certainly has been an enjoyable journey.

I grew my locs in memory of my cousin who passed at 16 in 2010. For those 8 years, I thought about it, researched it, even read the bible as well. In 2015, I was in a dark place, credit was messed up, trusting the wrong people, and depressed.. I decided on my cousins birthday I told my family Im growing locs just for the journey to turn my life around. So 2018, family trip, I got my locs and they’re longer than when I started. I think my locs give me an intellect, power of the mind, and wisdom as the grey comes in a bit on my sideburns. I love them, and I also plan to keep them even tho I dont have a end goal for when I’ll get them cut off.

Another great message from Cam. I can relate to this message. My 6 year cancer battle has given me plenty of time to reflect. I too grew up in a religious family (Baptist). This gave me a very solid foundation. And like most young men, I wandered from my religion. But over the last 6 years I realized I never wandered from my faith in God. I wish I could have a sit down conversation with Cam to share our experiences. Stay true to you Cam and thanks for Funky Fridays.

New International Version but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. I Corinthians 11:15. ESV - “All the days of his vow of separation, no razor shall touch his head. Until the time is completed for which he separates himself to the Lord, he shall be holy. He shall let the locks of hair of his head grow long. Cam you are a child of God!!! No one can judge you but God!!! True sister's and brother's of christ will not judge. You have a big heart and God is looking at your inner appearance and the sincerity of your heart!!! God Bless you my brother!! You are definitely an inspiration. Funny thing is I usually don't like beards. I also don't care for long hair on men much. But I think Cam looks better and way cooler with his beard and long hair. He looked so young for so long when he has short hair and was clean shaven. When he took his helmet off and screamed I'm back that day, it was like here is a man now. When he talks at press conferences and the such now he looks so much older and wiser and my respect for him has done nothing but grow for him. Love you bro and will always be so appreciative for the amazing years you've given me in joyous football! I hope Panthers bring you back home again and you can give us a few more years. But wherever you go I'll always cheer for you! Keep pounding my brother!

I just wanted to clarify that, but to not cut your hair until one of your daughters gets married is honorable Sir, and is a powerful statement to your princess. Rather you cut your hair or not does not change the respect I have for you. #onelove

I am extremely ecstatic to be a huge supporter of someone who’s humble, intelligent, and one of the most amazing athletes. Not to mention, the fact that you utilize your platform to lift up the name of Jesus. I absolutely love it! 🙌🏽 I’m also a huge fan of your Funky Friday sessions and commend you on being your authentic self and having what deems to be uncomfortable dialogues. Your recent dialogue “Why I’m Not Cutting My Hair” was very interesting and I would like to add some light to the topic. Please consider 1 Corinthians 11:14-15KJV [14] Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 1 Corinthians 11:15 KJV [15] But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. The word of God is saying it is common sense or second nature for a man not to have long hair. Because he looks unmanly and womanish, and exposes himself to ridicule and contempt. In the Old Testament the Nazarite, however, wore long hair lawfully, because it was their custom. For example, it was customary for men in Fiji to wear a kilt (skirt). There is no such custom in the United States and men would probably be ridiculed if they wore skirts. Cam, you have been blessed beyond measure on and off the field. I have seen Jesus protect you and fight battles for you just by being a fan. You have a beautiful heart. Stay humble and allow Jesus to use you whereas He can get all the glory out of your life. Give in to Him totally and watch Him bless you beyond measure. I’m writing this message out of love and with no intent to humiliate you by any means. With love

I'm all about expression thru hair. Mine has been every color possible & it's been an eye opener in how people react. The stuff falls out and you survive... what other body part is like that? So why not use it for expression? Keep doing you. Didn't realize that you had such a spiritual reason behind it but I also believe it's none of my business. You are who you are no matter how your hair looks. Thank you for sharing this. And for unapologetically being you. You've impacted so many over the years and continue to do so.

What's up Cam 😁 man I have always been a fan of yours since your college days 🙂 and One thing that I've noticed since you became a professional is that you've always been yourself... you've always been the person that grind through school and the person that excelled to make it to the NFL through all your adversity... with that said... I've noticed that the NFL set silent standards when it comes to Player personally....for example... when Michael Vick upgraded the QB position using his legs as an offensive threat...NFL stated"that they have never seen a QB have more Rushing yards as a Running back" then they stated" that there should be some new rules to be put in place to eliminate this natural special ability because all QB's were not blessed with this gift" The Standard QB is and was their puppet (In My Opinion)he remained in the pocket as directed...and he Expressed his outward appearance as a Blue Collar worker or Politician....I watched players like you .. Michael Vick..McNabb.. entice the league with your natural abilities and once you became a professional The NFL wanted to mold you into... what and who they wanted you to be..if you you were a multi-talented QB..one of those attributes had to be dimenished.. because it didn't fit their scheme of things... The NFL had a problem with you expressing that you were enjoying your job and your life having fun playing the game of football... They also had a problem whenever you changed your image little by little... there was a time when you had the OJ Simpson persona...they respected you more then because that's what they wanted..They see your work ethics which is on the plus side...they see your confidence in self it's on the plus side for you..but In my opinion.. it's on the rebellious side to them...they disrespected you..in my opinion..when you signed with the Patriots..by not paying you what you were worth..and I say that because of your portfolio!!! If you were to cut your hair...go back to the Business Man Suits and take the swag out of your speech you'll be completely different. Somewhere deep down in my soul I know that you still have something to offer the game of football before you hang up your cleats. I know what it feels like to be passionate about something and give it your all just to prove to that number one competitor..(which is yourself)that there is more greatness in me. God gives us all that One special thang.. that nobody else can do like you . Social Imagine is everything when it comes to silent Judgement...I would love to see you and Mike Tomlin work together 😊 I think that you would be the perfect fit!! 😊 (IN MY OPINION) 😊 CONTINUE TO ENJOY YOUR VERY BLESSED LIFE..BE THE BEST MAN,SON, FATHER, FRIEND, ATHLETE AND SERVANT OF GOD THAT YOU CAN BE..and your life will continuously be blessed!! One Love Fan!! 😎

Hm interesting 🤔 I've been growing mine out for some reason and idk why cam you just brought me a step closer making me realize I shouldn't care how people look at me but rather what they think of me as a person ❤️crazy how you made this video

I always feel like the way a person looks says whatever a person wants about them. Sometimes it's as deep as what God's word says to them or mundane as this is what was clean today. Your hair naturally how it comes from your scalp is all good Cam; it goes along with the rest of the great man 👍

Love the message Cam. I started growing my locs but I never related it to Samson. Great points. You inspire so many. Keep being amazing. And keep it funky.

Like Sampson and Dahlia...do not cut your hair until you are inspired to do so. Strength is in the hair..

🤩 I remember reading that story and I took away the same meaning from the Bible ,but with a slight twists all praise to your journey with the Most High.

We are all supposed to live as God wanted for us as well as to not to be judged by others for how we dress and do our hair. You can grow it, dye it, braid it and comb it out into an afro it's your hair. Hope you play ball soon. May your girls never be in a hurry to marry lol and stay daddy's girls.

Cam I enjoyed your description of the Nazirites. God works in ways that are a mystery to man. He is working through you. Continue to let yourself be a genuine, down-to-earth, imperfect vessel that he and the logos may flow through you. May he make his face shine upon you and give you peace. Shalom my brother.

LOVE the messages from Mr. Boogie.. So many people I know hate on your hair.. Many hypocrite Christian men make fun of it.. I would hope they would have a change of heart after hearing you speaking on The WORD. Cam is a true role model.

I totally understand Ace , I'm on my own spiritual journey and plan to start my hair loc journey this month. I'll be able to spend less time on the outer and more on the inner "me".

I feel that I started my loc journey gearing up to be a Nazir(nazarite) but never took the vow my is still freeforming and although I sin I would drop everything if our creator needed me for any act of service I thank our creator for all that is done within my life and love the creator so much for everything and blessing I received or receiving. Feel you bro keep going how the creator has set up your path.

I do not like growing a lot of hair. I like my hair low cut and trim lined up but I totally RESPECT his opinion and understand where he's coming from. Solute to Cam 💪 👌👍💙

Cam just subscribed to your channel because of your belief in hair. I don’t have long hair but respect your vow to serve God via long hair style. You’re defining yourself. God convicted me to always wear a vest when I go to work to symbolize serving Him. God bless you and your family brother!!!
