The D7200 doesn't have an optical low-pass filter. It makes sharper results than cameras that have one. I noticed at 10:00 you zooming in at the picture. You can set the OK button to zoom to 100% in one click. Just go to the playback menu settings and set the OK button function. I used this camera for ~4 years. It was definitely one for the history books.

At long last, a photographer that uses what he has and sees the merits of what is fast becoming old gear. Too many photographers, especially on KZbin are too keen to move on to the newer mirrorless cameras and lenses and the manufacturers who could make their lens mounts compatible but don't. I use a Canon 5D Mk4 and I only have that because my Mk 3 went into a river and I thought about a new camera in the R5 but, I have a great camera, why spend more money upgrading just for the sake of it. Well done Henry, you have my vote.

I have owned a d70 200 for almost 4 years and I absolutely love it, I honestly use it more than my D750 full frame. The only thing I've never liked about the D 7200 three rocks that it seems to be a little rough with very bright highlights and doesn't always retain highlight detail as well as some other cameras, but the dynamic range of this camera is awesome nonetheless... this camera even has more dynamic range than a Canon 5D Mark 3 full frame.

These 24 MP crop Nikons (7100 and 7200) are just the perfect cameras for that extra reach and macro shots, perfect for product shots as well for those details. INSANELY sharp and will give you lots of cropping headroom as well but I wouldn't go beyond ISO 1600 with these, I have 4 full frame bodies and I will never get rid of my D7100, it is essentially a 55 Megapixel camera density-wise. You pair it with a SIGMA ART 18-35 f1.8 and the 50-100 f1.8 youll probably never have to buy a lens again, it's like having multiple prine lenses in your bag

I think this is a great comment. I only lightly edit my photos too. If you want to make an impact on facebook then by all means replace the sky with software or something someone else did. In the same boat Henry. I've shot with Nikon since 1977. Have a lens arsenal that cannot be outmatched. Periodically I rent new equipment to taste the waters and always come back to: Why? After I installed the D7200 into the inventory a few years ago and the plethora of lenses dating back to the first Nikon FE acquired in high school, there is no reason for me to upgrade my still photography. Now, shooting video is a different. This is something that's in the works and quite frankly not satisfying with the Nikon systems. So a new journey begins in the realm of equipment acquisition. Whereas as I have my old Nikon D800, my old F mount lenses, and although I have two great lenses for my Sony, my Nikon ones are still bagged. I pulled out my D800 and mounted my Samyang F/2.8 14mm glass on it. Totally manual, it's so clear and sharp. Not that fujifilm is worse than Nikon, but I wouldn't have the variety of lenses I now own with the Nikon. Plus there's the learning curve of a new system. I like the images I get from Nikon. I know its limitations (DX, being one of them), but I compensate and move forward. Your video brought me back to reality. Thank you so much.

I can never understand why people have two systems! unless of course if one was a gift! or was free. Using a kit lens is perfect if your pictures just end up on here! The only regret I have is getting rid of gear I don't use only to think why did I do that I wished I had kept it! Thank you for taking us to Morecambe that's saved me a journey!

I've been shooting with Nikon since about 1985. I currently have a D7200, and I really like it. Although I generally prefer prime lenses, I don't have any in the DX format. When I bought the 7200, I had an 18-55 and a 55-200, both kit lenses, and I found that I wanted something wider, so I saved my pennies and bought the 10-20 DX, and I like it a lot. I have a lot of older legacy manual primes from my film camera days, so last year I bought a D610 as a gift to myself, because I could use my older manual primes and zooms with it, as well as my AF-S lenses that the 7200 won't use. I think, between the two of them, that I'll be set for years to come. And, I like the fact that the layout of the two bodies are nearly identical.

Those kinds of walks are the best. Grab a camera, get some exorcise and see what the day brings. I have a mountain of a hill behind where we live and I walk the path up and around the top. I never know what I will find and the place never fails to disappoint. Millions of photographic possibilities, plus I get a couple of miles in every day. I find your channel to be the most down to earth and easy to watch and learn from. I watch you videos over coffee most mornings. Good to see you doing well. About to grab a camera and head out this morning as well.

Henry, I do not own a 7200, but have been a Nikon shooter all of my life, now using a D4s with all Nikon lens. I agree with you the mint tied up in the lenses and find it hard to justify the cost of switching. Crack on my friend, you have an energetic, inspiring channel!

Just goes to show you dont need the latest and greatest. I have a Canon 7D MKii which I will never part with, I would like to buy a 5D RS one day just to play with the bigger sensor. I cant see any reason for myself as an amateur, to change to a mirrorless. I love the sensor cleaning feature on the 7D, its my favourite thing. I love the fact for you its about the emotion of the shot not the gear. Isn't that what its all about.....

Its ALWAYS about the lens. I use an M50 with canon L lenses and get super crisp images. In fact i use the m50 with Laowa 2.5-5.0x to do ultra macro shots where i can easily get crisp images of a mite that would ' just' fit on the sharp end of a pin. (Certainly smaller than I can see with my eyes). At the end of the day though it doesn't matter about the brand but more about using the equipment you have or the best you can afford

That's a good way of looking at it, knowing the relationship between your camera and your lenses and what works best. Good stuff man!

I publish a lot of my photos on the web. I always edit my photos so that the camera model is not visible. Not once has anyone ever said that my photos are poor because they are low resolution or anything. The truth is I use a D200 which is 15 years old. Still does a fantastic job.

Great to see the D7200 is back. Mine arrived yesterday to replace my D5200 so I plan on getting out with it asap. I've been shooting a lot of woodland wildlife recently using my Sigma 18-200mm C lens so I'm keen to see how it works with the D7200. Grest video as always Henry 👍

I have the D7200 paired with a 18-55 f2.8 lens, which is an absolute tank of a lens. A photographer told me many years ago that you can buy camera body after camera body, and it won't improve the clarity. Invest in the best glass you can, and it will pay off time and time again.

Agree... EF L lens and adapter would make it clearer... but you've made the right decision! The M50 kit lens is a good all rounder but doesn't do anything really well.

D7200 uses the same legendary Nikon sensor which they put in the Z50 and Z30, its got the best dynamic range of any APS-C still. And with full frame we already peaked with D610...

Like many below, I am using a D7100. Bought it out here in CH second hand a couple of years ago. Love the feel and the images and the price for such a low shutter count camera (c.9,000) was amazing. Always been a Nikon kid. Still break out a Nikon FG for film use occasionally. I use Olympus when I am in the mountains - the weight and the smaller size make a big difference if one is climbing or ski mountaineering - but for image quality the Nikon wins hands down.

This has been very helpful. I'm a formerly professional photographer from the film days and all of my digital cameras have been pocket sized point and shoot models. I have no desire to spend thousands on a body if this will do the job and it appears that it will.

Hi Henry. Mate, loving your videos and images you are producing. Loved the image of the snowy road in the last video. Totally understand you wanting to go back using the D7200. I am a Canon M50 user too. There are many things I like about the M50, particularly the compact nature of the camera. I have enjoyed seeing you out using it. I agree with your comment about the lenses. As a M50 user I have a few EF-M lenses and the 15-45mm lens is the weakest in terms of image quality. I have gone back to my 18-55mm lens. It is much sharper. I recommend to use a lens hood with that one too. Also, the EF-M 22mm lens is really sharp. I can recommend that one too. From my experience using the M50 the lens do not like low light situations. They love it when the weather and subject is bright and sunny. I noticed the image of the snowy road that it was the darker area where the sharpness was poor. I have the same issue. I recently upgraded my EF-M 55-200mm to an EF-70-300 L lens and wow! what a difference. It is heavy but, the image quality coming out of this combination is really good even at higher ISO. Keep up the good work Henry.

Hi Henry, I shoot with the 7200 as well. I also purchased an M50 mainly for video but I thought it would be a good walk around camera when I wanted to travel light however I wanted better glass for it. I can highly recommend getting the viltrox adapter and a Sigma 17-70. I did as I already use the Nikon version of the 17-70 on my 7200. It's an awesome lens and it made a huge difference to the image quality. I do love Sigma lenses :)

Love your commentary and being from Washington State and British Columbia I completely relate you your love of the shades of gray. Most people dont. You are correct about Nikon Lenses. I sold cameras before the digital age and I only used Nikon or Medium format (Pentax 6x7). Back then all Nikon lenses were pro quality where Canon required that you buy the L lenses. Having said that based on my conversations with pro level Canon users it seems that Canon may be better for video. Ironically I purchased the D7200 to replace my Sony video (pre HD) system but have fallen back in love with still photography. I shoot mostly wildlife, birds and orca whales. Though I love Nikon lenses I feel that Nikon dumbs up the more affordable cameras like the D7200 to make you want to buy the more expensive Nikons, which I refuse to do. I have not come close to mastering or even understanding all the features of the D7200 but I think it does lack in the action photos area or maybe I dont know all the features that would make shooting birds in flight or birds through tree limbs. Thanks for your great video!

For the all reasons you gave for preferring the M50, I highly recommend renting the Nikon Z50, with kit lenses and FTZ adapter. The 16-50 kit lens for the Z50 is slow as heck, but it slides into your pocket easily as well, and has optical vr. See if a local shop will rent you one or if NikonUK will loan you a kit.
