The reason why the steering wheel is like that is because it is meant to be an off-road vehicle, and that steering is ideal for offroading

I run a 2011 manual JKU. Bought it with 112k miles. Currently 254k miles on it. Procharged 3.8 engine. 400hp clutch installed to handle the new torque and 370hp, running 37s My channel shows how I built it. Lotta garage time, but that's why I own a Jeep. Some of us want Jeeps for the ENJOYMENT of the builds/time/mods.

I’ve been driving performance cars most of my life and finally decided to get something different - got a Jeep Wrangler, and so far love it after 4-months. It’s whatever makes you comfortable though, I’ve had nice cars that others love and I absolutely hate, and it’s just pointless keeping it if you aren’t happy with it. A suggestion - don’t spend thousands on a car until you’ve driven it for at least a full month or two - no one’s going to want to pay for upgrades, especially a dealer if you trade in. Hope the new truck turns out to be awesome for you!!

Dude no cap: 1. you went from a go-kart to a truck. All trucks feel a little loose in the steering. Maybe a new one with electronic steering will feel a bit better. But anything with hydraulic steering will feel this way if it has a longer steering shaft. Which almost all trucks have. 2. wranglers ride like garbage when you put massive negative offset wheels and throw a lift on without changing any other components to correct the new suspension angles of everything. 3. the tongue weight thing for the dirt bike..... it's not going to fall off. Don't be a chump. You see people towing like 500lbs over weight all the time. No ones going to nark on you for being like 3 lbs overweight, and I guarantee the truck won't feel any different.

Live axle front ends don't drive like IFS vehicles. There is also an adjustment screw on the side of the steering box (live axles don't have rack and pinion) to set the amount of play. Jeep was having an issue with steering box mount flex which may be what you are experiencing. Either way, it is still a pretty small vehicle to keep in the lane.

Trucks and larger vehicles have the same play in the steering wheel bc it makes it easier to drive. Imagine if the jeep had tight sport steering, it would be very dangerous bc any small movement in the steering wheel could cause you to lose control. My yukon and 4 runner has loose steering like that

The steering set up is that way because it has to be good off road. Similarly suspension in sports cars has to be good when driving at high speeds which makes it worse at slow speeds. Your little car can't off road so steering is only tuned for the road.

Very good video Luke. Sorry to hear you get rid of your Jeep. I have a JL Wrangler Unlimited and love it. I decided not to get the lift kit and 35" tires for modification. Instead I kept the traditional original wheels with 33" tires without the lift kit. I did change to dual exhaust systems and found a cover for my spare tire to include the rear camera. I love the way it looks and plan on adding some Pillar lights next. I want to be different from everyone else. I'm happy you are getting what you want. GOD Bless, JESUS Best!

So, I agree do not drive something you do not like or feel comfortable with. I am an older person and I switched new vehicles three times within 15 months, not necessarily because I did not like them, but do to my eyes not being the greetest. From a F150 to a Ranger Roush, to a F150, and now a 2022 Jeep Rubicon. I just do daily driving and will never take my Jeep off-road. There are things about the Jeep I think Chrysler could do to make it better, but, I am satisfied with it.When I decide to get rid of it, I am not sure I would purchase another one or go with a different SUV. I am just over the truck thing.

But I upgraded the front end to more beefy components and better alignment. After 8 months- I Love my Jeep! I have often thought of getting a Jeep, as they look like fun and the whole image thing. I never did, as I honestly don't see myself going off road, nor having the time to learn to drive off road. Someone I work with bought a Gladiator. Spent in excess of $50K, I just can't rationalize that. I have a 2014 Merecedes C300 with the 3.5 L 6 cylinder and has not failed me once in the snow. On dry roads it's beautifully maneuverable and quite comfortable and I bought it for $14K 3 years ago. I have accepted who I am not who I wish to be. I have found sometimes you need to learn the difference: what do I want versus what do I need.

Ok so understand the issues you are going to have regardless of vehicle, jeeps are more prone too. Basically the more weight you put over your spindles you decrease handling. Your towing consern is fine with your suspension can handle it. A straight axle is fine put if your not used to it. Steering dampeners help alot. Im currently designing a ttb suspension for a jeep. In Canada aswell

should've gone 17 inch beadlocks, patagonia 36 inch (lighter than your setup btw) with the same stance. you need to get shift your front axle forward going up that much from stock. just by maybe an inch forward. and half inch back. that'll give you a much more comfortable wheelbase to drive with. or just getting stiffer springs (in back mainly) helps you not get your weight weighed down by a trailer. then just do a steering stabilizer and man it rides WAY better than most airbag bmw's. that wheel wiggle is your steering which after changing your geometry so much you haven't accounted for after the upgrades from stock. my jeep doesn't do that at all. Geometry of a vehicle is important. so accounting for the steering and stabilizing parts after you raise your vehicle and moved your axles closer together will always make it drive worse. sucks you don't want to try that.

It's because of the big sidewall on the side of the tire. 😅 That's why you have so much slop in the steering as it's the flex in the sidewall of the tire. It's not actual play inside the steering mechanism. At least I'd hope not with a vehicle that new. Since it's a live axle, you can put a steering stabilizer on there to help mitigate some of it just to give it a tighter feel this is because you're pushing against a shock. However, it is safe. The vehicle is tracking straight even though you were wiggling the wheel. 😅

Not only will you not get back what you paid for the mods to the Jeep, you also de-valued the Jeep itself. Most people want the Jeep to be stock then add their own mods. It pays to drive a car for a bit and decide if you really like it and intend to keep it before dumping lots of cash into it only to get rid of it a short while later.
@clifft7832

True words. No one wants a modded vehicle, and it kills the value. I bought a '21 Sport S, and bought factory Rubicon Dana 44 axles in the crate front and rear, for $5,000. Did it make it stronger? Of course, but that was money spent, not invested.
@dr.bunterhidenbrobruh5502

@@clifft7832 Absolutely. Best bet if you're going to mod it is to do it in a way where it looks the most stock as possible and don't do anything that isn't reversible, and keep all the original parts so you can swap everything back when it comes time to sell. Then you can still separately sell the parts you added. I see soooo many wranglers for sale where the owner added ugly aftermarket wheels, body kits and other add ons. Same goes for sports and tuner cars. Nobody wants your custom job. Not only will you get less, it will be more difficult to find a buyer.

I just bought one. I have a 2 door 2015 all black freedom wrangler . Looks perfect and it drives like it's constantly windy outside, even when it's not. Love the looks, but Hate driving it. I avoid the highway like the plague. I really regret buying it. It looks very nice tho. I've has it for 2 weeks and have barely driven it. I can deal with the rough ride, but not driving the interstate is truly the last downfall for me. Totally disappointed. I put a stabilizer on it and it made it a little better. I even thought of trying to get it back to stock. I want be off roading with it. So the lift and tires look nice, but I prefer an old boring ride where I feel stable on the highway. Any way to fix it? I took it to a shop that specifically specializes in Jeeps and was told... it's a Jeep and this is how it normally drives: Finally someone who understands my frustration!! In Australia and most countries in Europe and Africa the law is that the tires cannot go outside the guards or fenders depending on where you are in the world. North America is the exception to this. After spooky season the 350z will start its hibernation 😴 Also i love how some trucks do look and sound good but the way some handles which doesn't really feel good or safe

Your observations and opinions are valid. Maybe put your thoughts together so you can finish a thought without interrupting it so many times. Too bad you didn’t like the jeep…. Only the way it looked. They aren’t for everyone… like you.

Jeeps needs that play in the steering. It helps you not flip the truck.

Hi Luke! I enjoyed watching your video and I think you did the right decision. It's true that it looks so cool, but it's not comfortable when you don't enjoy while driving. I agree with you very much. And I can't wait to see the order for the truck that you ordered.😁😃
