Here in Mexico, we technically got the Mercury Grand Marquis in the form of the FORD Grand Marquis, which was sold at Ford dealerships as the highest trim of the Ford Crown Victoria. @sincerelylavender6147
@sincerelylavender6147 4 жыл бұрын
@@BlessedBaubles I purchased a 2001 MGM about six months ago. I'm not a pro but this is what I would do. Look up your car online. Get all the specifics on it... Engine info, features, etc. If the car is very clean, explain that. You should list the VIN number too otherwise people think you are hiding something. Put the mileage on the ad and do take a lot of pictures. Go online to the various car selling websites and see what other people are asking for your car. The miles, condition, year and how clean make all the difference. You could also list any recent repairs you have done. If the battery was replaced last year... You could mention that for example. Determine your asking price. Make it fair. Be prepared for people to try to wiggle you down on price. Be either firm or decide ahead of time... If you would go a little lower ...like $300 or so. I assume you have the title to the car. Put on the ad serious inquiries only. Try to sell to someone who wants the car for themselves... Not a person who will resell and make a profit. Make sure you have a clean title. Mention that in ad. Are the tires in great shape? You could mention that. Also... Be open about any flaws on the body or inside. If you know it needs any repairs mention it. Be honest. People don't mind fixing these cars. They love to do it. Accept a certified check for payment. Develop a plan on how and where they could test drive the car. Bring a friend with you. Don't let them test drive alone. You could sell to a used car place... Less work and quicker. But...you will get less because they need to make a profit. Can you park car near a busy road so many people can see it? Depends where you live. Get a for sale sign for the window. Put your phone number on sign. These are favorite project cars for people. Probably the best American cars ever made. Hope this helps. No one answered you so I thought to drop you a note. Greetings from New Jersey USA. P.s. I never plan on selling mine. Got rid of a stupid new leased Cheaply made Chevy Malibu. Never looked back. Parts are cheapest for these cars and very easy to still find. And the engine is user friendly. Easy to work on too 🚗🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀 oh...yes...it is called a rag top.

Sincerely Lavender Wow! Thank you very much. Such a very kind and thorough response. I think I like people from PA!! Very very kind and helpful people indeed! After COVID, like many ppl, I took out my sewing machine to make masks like most ppl did but my machine didn’t work. It’s another well made machine, older, but awesome. However, no one works on them anymore. I tried for weeks to find someone to just take a look at it but found no one. Then I went KZbin to search for info on the machine and through a Vedic I found a super smart, wonderful person who doesn’t really work on these machines anymore but agreed to fix mine. 😁 Wow! I like PA people!) Anyway, yes, the title is very clean, only 1 owner before me and I’ve only had it one year. The woman before me took very good care of the car. It was her mechanic that sold me the car. It’s gold! My favorite color in cars. And it looks great. I took pics and will explain all important details like you said. You bring up two excellent points... you said, “people don’t mind working on these. In fact, they love to.” And, “fixing them doesn’t cost much”. The car is leaking water so I have to decide wether I should put the money info fixing it or explain and sell as is. However, you’re right! It is kinda nice that fixing it costs less than most cars. I didn’t mean to go on but I did mean to thank you for taking the time to give me advice in such a nice way. God bless you! I appreciate it so very much.

@@BlessedBaubles Glad to be of help!!! Are you sure you want to sell that car? You could enjoy no car payments for many many years. Who knows where things are going in thus world. These cars are built like tanks. You can feel how heavy the doors are. I'm fixing my car up here and there. I got like 96000 miles on my v8 engine. In my 50s and can't afford a car payment. Bought it for 2800 dollars. The best money I ever spent. The newer cars don't have heat or AC like these do. They take conventional oil instead of that synthetic junk. Some people have gotten 500000 miles on these cars. This is why they make great taxis!!!!! Are you sure you want to sell it? These are panther platforms and we'll they last and last. Check KZbin and see how people put fun lights inside and make them so cool!!! Oh I'm from New Jersey😁😁😁😁but PA isn't far. I sew too lol. My sister made masks early on so I didn't have to. Small world. Do you ever watch Scotty the mechanic on KZbin??? I love that man. He has a video praising the Mercury Grand Marquis. My car is 19 years old. I never thought I'd get such a good car that was that old but these cars break the rules. Crown Victorias too. I named my car Dreamboat and not a day goes by that I don't say I love my car. New cars are cheaply made. God knows where the car world is going. That leaking water you spoke of.... It might be condensation from using the air conditioner. You will see a puddle under your car after parking it and you had the a/c running. Is the liquid clear? Yellow? Get a white paper towel to see if it is clear. Touch the puddle. The AC will leave some water and nothing to worry about. Happens to all cars. If you need a new water pump...your car will be making a lot of noise and mechanics know the sound of that. What I love about these cars more than anything....the safety. You have so much metal around you. A massive hood...a massive trunk. If someone hits you... Chances are you will be ok. I went on eBay and bought new wheel covers....purchased the original car manual which was like new... Had to replace the plastic Grand Marquis emblem on the back. I do little things like that. Nice to meet you!!! Stay safe!!!! I love to sew just not much time 😒😰😰 p.s. God bless you too!

Hello Kyle... I love your story with your grandfather because it reflects mine... I have the same good relationship with my grandpa... my grandfather worked for Ford for 28 years and always had a Ford parked in his driveway since the day he had his driver's licence. He told me that Ford was the best company he had ever worked for and trust me he had many jobs before that. When I was born in 1978 he had in his possession a Grand Marquis 1977 champagne color up until 1992 when he changed for the new aero Grand Marquis LS 1992 blue color and at that period he had retired from Ford. Not long after he bought a 1994 Grand Marquis LS... a black one this time.... kept it for 3 years and switched for the brand new 1997 Taurus SHO which I had a chance to drive and let me tell you... it was a blast ! Today my grandpa drives a 2013 Lincoln MKZ in immaculate condition which I probably gonna be the owner when the time comes. He is gonna be 88 years old in july and still alive and kicking. I personnally own a black 2003 Mercury Marauder in pristine condition with 86,500 km which is about 53,000 miles and so proud of it.... the panther platform is the best and will always remembers me of my grandfather. I love the way these cars eat the roads and they are so comfortable. P.S. Sorry about my english, it's because I am a french canadian from Montreal, Québec (Canada). I just want to let you know Kyle that I surely appreciate your story about you and your grandfather... especially the one vid that you've switched exhausts and tires as a surprise for you grandpa. Have a nice day Kyle !

I daily drive a 1997 model. I am not a Ford fan but this one they got right. It has paid for itself many times over. It is comfortable, reliable and trunk is huge, it can tow a decent trailer, it is easy to work on and parts are cheap. The only downside is fuel mileage in town is only about 15-18 MPG with the 2.73 gears but on the highway it gets mid to high 20's. I can't think of a better cheap family car.

Sorry to hear about your grandpa. He seemed like a chill person. Everytime I watch videos on either the Mercury grand marquis, Ford crown victoria or the Lincoln town car, it makes me appreciate the 2008 Ford crown victoria p71 I own. These panther vehicles are some of the best cars to own in my opinion. They're comfortable, reliable and they're not bad on gas for a V8. I use to drive a taxi and the crown vic's and grand marquis were used in the fleet. They would easily get up to 300,000+ miles with the original engine and transmission considering the type of use and abuse they would go thru everyday. My car has 190,000 miles on it and I bought it for $1300 in 2018 (173,000 then). You can get these cars for real cheap and they last. I know I still got at least another solid 8-10 years on my p71. I've seen many other Panthers for sale with under 100,000 miles and just think they're just getting broken in. My next car is gonna be a Lincoln town car before they disappear. I've seen your other videos and enjoy watching the full detailed videos. I just subscribed and like. Thank you sir for the great videos!

Not much to say about these cars that hasn't already been said. I worked in a local municipality and we had a retired P71 Crown Victoria in our fleet, so the interior was a lot more plain and not nearly as nice as a Grand Marquis, and I'm sure the suspension was different. The surprising thing though, is these cars don't feel like driving a "big" car. The visibility is *excellent*. You can see all around you, which oddly makes it fairly easty to park and navigate. Driving it is unusually because some things are contemporary, but some things are very retro. The dash, controls, seats, etc are all sort of modern-ish, or at least late 1990's modern. The steering was sharp and quick, but zero road feel at all. Completely boosted, you could steer it with your finger. The column shifter, bench seat and automatic transmission whine reminded me of the 1977 Buick I drove as a teenager.

I have a 2000 Mercury Marquis with less then 34k miles on it. Was my late mothers and fathers car. Its a great car and my go to car today although there are not many miles on it because I own other vehicles I also drive. I just couldn't let the car go and I always liked rear wheel drive cars. They are all I ever drove back in the day although we have two front wheel drive cars in the family today. I rather drive the Merc.

I’ve learned something over the years.. the old folks seem to always have great taste in automobiles! Papa slim was one of those old folks, he bought a car from a brand gone by and he preserved that thing perfectly!

Been subscribed to your channel for years now, I really like how much of car’s little details no one else cares to show you put into your videos, but above all I really appreciate all you have shared yourself and about Papa Slim, I remember quite well your videos with him, and I was really struck last year when I learned he had passed. Thanks a lot for all what you have shared over the years, take really good care of the Marquis, its a beautiful car and a priceless piece of history and memories.

Great video!! Remember 03s saw the adoption of seat belt pretensioners as well. 03 saw the first time of optional side air bags and heated seats on the Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria.

Thank you Kyle for another thorough review of this wonderful car. I've been with your channel for 8 years now, watching from Munich, Germany. Keep up your passion and take good care of Papa Slim's car. I love how you value the memories of your papa. My grandfather also died last year and he was in many ways very similar to your papa :)

Nice, personal review Kyle. I literally just bought myself a 2004 Lincoln Town Car as my new daily driver! Near mint condition car with just under 50K miles, looking forward to enjoying it. Great to see the Mercury is doing well and you're enjoying it! Papa Slim is looking down with pride and his memory will live on!

Wow. I remember when you did the video when you got the exhaust done on this. It was a while ago. I still remember that specific car. Great car man that is one of my all time favorite cars. I took one from Philly to Florida. One of the best most comfortable rides i have ever taken. Rip to ur grandpa. I'll always remember his reaction to the new exhaust.

Regarding the handling, no doubt that the post 1998 models weren't quite as floaty, but fair to say that the platform could feel kind of boaty. If you take one into some twisties you will notice the weight of the car, brake dive, inefficient weight transfer through sharp curves at speed. I have heard it described as "the car encourages you to drive at a more measured pace".

Love it, especially when there's a sentiment connection! That's a Job 1 2003, which were manufactured August 2002 onwards. It has all the features of older vehicles - before Ford started decontenting - and then some; extended length overhead console, front pockets in the front seats, remote fuel door release, there's still a clock in the center of the dashboard, black B pillars, etc. My '01 is also Spruce Green, only with a Medium Parchment interior. Looking forward to more content!

Car sounds fantastic. I’ve never really been into these cars but I sure respect them. They’re comfortable, very reliable, and they’re unique in today’s marketplace. It’s too bad that there isn’t anything like it today brand new.

I know this video is few years old. I purchase a Grand Marquis 2001 the first of this year. I didn't pay a whole lot for it. It had a 162000 mi. The car belonged to a 95-year-old man. Older people always tend to take care of their stuff. If I had all the money in the world. I'd buy all these cars up. At the end of the day. It will always be cheaper to repair these vehicles then what we have on the roads today. The reliability of the 4.6 L. This will make the car last over 300,000 MI.
