Social awkwardness ain't something to be proud of nor it is something to be ashamed. It's not that he's doing it intentionally but what he can do to avoid these situations is simply accept it and work on it. I mean i also have some awkward situations but i accept it that i sucked at that scenario and then i simply avoid doing the same next time. Social awkwardness isn't someone's authenticity dude it can led you to mess-up/miss so many opportunities that you might have going forward.
