I traded my 2022 RG Special for a 2023 RGS last December with the notion of maybe trading again in 2025. I wanted to see if the liquid cooled 117 had any issues on the 24's.....and the new fairing electronics/etc to some extent. I always do a 1000 mi round trip for my break-in and 1st oil/pri/trans change. I wonder if his issue is becoming commonplace on the '24 Tour bikes or if this is an isolated issue ? Sounds like HD might have a recall issue......Aw well, I haven't been stranded yet so I know I'll be on a RG w/ 117 in '25. There's a lot to like about the new RG...... Hope this ends up a simple fix...

The fuel sending unit is bad thats $230. I'm sure it will be over a grand the get a new gasket installed. Also own an 82 shovel head. It's always some BS with a Harleys. Then they had the cam chain tensioner problems from 2001 to 2003. They need to get there shit togather. The dealer neer me has a big inventory and they ain't selling alot right now.

"Ambassador of the brand" and donating all your problems and frustration for the cost of a $300 1000 mile service. Wow!!! That IS dedication. I could not have done that. I would have gone to another brand but not Indian because I had some problems with my Challenger, that Indian would not even acknowledge was an issue. Indian service or lack of it, may be on equal to what you experienced with H.D. Consider a Goldwing. The best touring motorcycle ever!!!

After living through various first year new technology model, drivetrain of Harleys, Trucks & car issues, I ‘ve learned to wait till year 2 or 3 the of production of the new things before buying it. I never buy the first year of any new vehicle 4 wheel or 2 wheel vehicles. Let someone else live through the glitches and I now confidently buy new a few years down the road . My vehicle purchase are so good since going to this way of upgrading my rides. Too many new supply sources dictated by cost cutting always has a learning curve. Great video, but it’s sad that you had to make it. I’m an old man now, not able to ride anymore because of health reasons. In my younger years I never rode anything but Harleys. Yes, the early models had their issues, always leaked oil when you put the kickstand down. Regardless, they were engineered simple enough that I could wrench them myself, so even if I had an issue on the open road I could usually get it back running long enough to take it to a dealer if the repair needed was beyond my capability. In 2003 I bought a brand new 100 year anniversary Fat Boy. Great ride and I loved it, put a 1,000 miles on it when the engine started sputtering. Long story short, the dealership finally replaced the engine. I’ll always remember coming out of the dealership one day when another guy asked me, “What piece of shit did you buy?” After listening to your experience I am left to believe Harley Davidson is still selling shitty bikes.

The problems began in 2021 with the Sportster S. Your 2024 shows me that HD hasn't resolved the issues they knew about then and are putting flawed engineered systems on new models. My issues are as follows: 1. Timing Chain Tensioner failure. The engine was rebuilt at 4200 miles and spent months in the shop. 2. Software defects. Multiple "updates" 3. Battery drains if not left on a tender. The bike won’t start until the battery is charged. 4. Fuel Pump failure at 4K miles. I have found some workarounds. I keep my key fob stored away from my bike. I leave it in Sport mode all the time. I don't trust it. Warranty expires in a month, and I will sell it on the cheap if anyone is interested. HD should have bought it back, but the local dealership refused to repay the amount I overpaid for it... I appreciate you telling the truth about these bikes. There is some relief in knowing it's not just me having issues.

Many Harley owners modify their motorcycles themselves, cut corners on service, use the wrong gas, and all kinds of things that cause them to have engine problems. It does not surprise me, so many Harley owners act like it is the 1980s still and you can just wrench on your bike yourself without any training or knowledge. Almost all new bikes have all kinds of electronics and very tight tolerances to meet emissions standards and the "I want all the electronics" demands of the customers. Just like with cars.

Kinda reminds me of the movie Gremlins from 1984. Speaking of Gremlins, the biggest Gremlin that gets overlooked are the main electrical system grounds, mainly the battery negative cable bolted to the frame and any other electrical system grounds mounted to the frame. New bike, new wiring harness like you said. Possible loose ground bolts. Possible ground wire eyelet trying to ground to the frame through paint instead of through a cleaned ground mounting point on the frame (that is not paint free).

T have ridden the street glide and road glide for around a 4,000 miles each, they are over weight over rated prices of shit. There's no need for a pile heavy of tech in the fairing weighing down the front and making braking and low speed manoeuvring harder, wasting gas and wearing the tyres out. The rubber mounted engine isa liability, why H-D have not been sued i don't knoe, The heritage is more comfortable, handles like it's on rails uses less gas and tyres, and is a gentleman's motorcycle with manners and subtlety not something tattooed ruffians will understand.

I know for me, after any of the times I spent over $20k on a motorcycle and had a break down or so much as a glitch I’d be moving on. I did unload a 2007 road glide custom, a 21 Road King and a 17 triumph explorer along with a R18 TC, all within 3 months of purchase due to issues. The Triumph the only one to leave me sit on the way to work. Stupid thing wouldn’t let you start it below 40 degrees, the computer would disable the start function based on battery voltage at a calculated rate. Great bike otherwise. But a bike that makes me late for work is worthless to me.

After the 4 visit the dealership told me it was a bad connector on the fuel pump. It was making the motorcycle think it was out of gas. Sometimes while I rode the motorcycle I could feel the jault. It was like the motorcycle ran out of gas while I was riding, then the connection quickly reconnects causing the jault. If it issue continues have them check your fuel pump.

It would work for a few days and then do the same thing. I took it to my local dealer which are awesome people by the way. They said they would do the update and it gave them issues with that. After a week they were able to update the system. When I picked it up I checked the sound and no sound from the speakers still so I turned around and took it to service which they checked again and they found out two fuses were missed placed. The 30amp was where the 15amp goes and vice versa. The switched them and it worked. I've been with the bike for a couple of weeks and sounds has been playing from the speakers until today coming home. I can make it to where I can switch the music to play through my Cardo but not the bike speakers. It's frustrating to have this issue but other than that the bike has not given me any other problems. My bike has only 350 miles I know but they have been city miles where I have turned on and off the bike multiple times without any issues except for the speakers on the bike. This is my first Harley and I'm a novice rider. I do LOVE riding her though. I'll probably take her back to the dealer to see what they say.

I have found in now owning a bike with lots of tech (Indian Pursuit) that electrical/battery issues are consistent. Keeping my bike on a tender (Indian even placed a SAE socket on the top fork mount to make it easy to get to) is a must after every ride and when not in use. For reasons that some say are key fob related (bike looking for it), to small checks the bike does (yes even when not in use) there is a draw. Also in regards to dealers and service, when I was looking at the 24' RG and the Indian as my next bike, the sales people had no idea on Skyline or Ride Command and how to use it, especially the mapping / navigation. They have "special" contacts for these systems, which basically do not solve anything, but they welcome "your input". Your patience is outstanding!

I am not a Harley guy. I ride Indians. I own a 2019FTR-RR, 2021 Scout Bobber, 2022 Chief Bobber DH and a 2022 Challenger Limited. When I am not riding my motorcycles they stay on a battery maintainer - 100% of the time. Modern motorcycles must see the correct voltage when you turn them on and ask them to start. If the battery voltage is even slightly low you run into all kinds of problems. All modern bikes suffer from some degree of parasitic drain when they are not running.

It sounds like your bike came with a bad BCM and the repeated issues from that took a toll on your battery. That is a significant issue, but not one that I see being widespread currently. Harley definitely needs to take care of that for you and then some. As an alternative perspective, I have 1500 miles on my 24 road glide and it has been nothing but a dream to ride. I haven't been easy on it either. I've done a number of upgrades on it and performed all the work myself. I can definitely say that the 24 model is much easier to work on than my 2020 road glide that I had previously. They did a lot of things right with this redesign. Regardless, I hope your motorcycle is finally fixed and your get to enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine.

Ok so, full disclosure. I bought a 2022 PAS from Stampede HD in Burleson TX last April. My 1st HD. I had 6mo and 6K miles of problem free riding. Then for whatever reason all sorts of the issues you have described. Not as soon as with your RG but nonetheless... I feel like the problem is is that we as owners give the motor company too much slack when it comes to releasing these bikes without properly getting them road tested and the information out to the dealers to repair these bikes when a problem, child does slip through the cracks of the final test and fit procedure at the build shop. It's like we all say "well that's what happens" and "that's just all part of the ownership experience" . But really it should be unacceptable. Honestly, we should not accept anything less than just about perfect with a modern motorcycle built in 2022 or 2024 or whenever. When I called for an explanation I was a bit frustrated and I asked my dealer why he thought there were all these problems with my bike and he told me "these bikes have a lot of tech in them" and I told him that I don't think that's a good excuse for these bikes not running the way they should. A lot of things that are on the road have a lot of " tech in them ". My grocery getter Toyota Corolla has an awful lot of tech in it and it starts and runs fine. Every single time I hit the start button. Hell my refrigerator has a lot of tech in it and it runs fine as well so I don't accept that as a problem with again a modern motorcycle. We as owners need to quit accepting and being so forgiving of the motor company for delivering a vehicle that has flaws that soon out of the gate regardless of the fact that the warranty is unlimited miles or what have you. I am glad that the bike seems to be running good. I've had my eye on that model as well so I'm paying very close attention to all these tests and review bikes of the 2024 road glides. I love the appearance of that bike and I would love to actually buy one, but it's tough when I see owners having the same problems that I'm experiencing on my Pan America.

I had a stalling while riding issue with my KLX230. After taking it back to the dealer 3 times for the same issue, I got a call from the dealer who said that they believe the issue has now been fixed (turned out to be a faulty spark plug arrester cable) but they would hate to return me the bike a 4th time if the problem was now not truly fixed and asked for my permission to allow the service tech to ride the bike home that evening and back to the dealership the following day just to make sure it no longer stalls. I said OK. The bike has been perfect ever since. Now, stop finding excuses for HD, you can see the difference between true customer service from Kawasaki as compared with HD. Too many folks have got rid of their Pan Americas (taking a big hit financially) because HD has not been able to fix issues in any reasonable time and these owners just can't trust to take the bike out on long rides with confidence that it ain't going to break down/not start. Interesting how 2024 PAm models now have a bigger battery and significant charging system upgrades - tells me what is causing all those PAm issues .

My Road King had some major intermittent lights/starter/turn signal issues. In and out of the HD service dept, the dollars stacking up. I took it to an indie out of frustration, and he called shortly and said it was ready. When I walked in to pick it up, he asked me when did I have that security module installed. I asked what made him think I had it installed and that it was not on the bike new. He said it was an old one. That his mechanic took it apart and cleaned it, put new silicone grease on the contacts. That was 10k miles ago.

As motorcycles, especially Harleys, get more advanced and complicated electronic-related issues are to be expected. It also seems to be the case with the latest model passenger cars and trucks these days. Compared to a 2024 Road or Street Glide my 2014 Road King is a simple bike...but that could be a good thing. 🙂

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I feel your pain. I bought a loaded 2021 Pan America. I have had nothing but problems with it since day two, just like you. Not starting and even turning over. The Stator quit at 6500 miles. The fob and bike wouldn’t recognize each other. The forums also list ECMs and Starter Clutches breaking. This is my 6th Harley, and last. The MoCo is clueless about technology and I think my bike was assembled by a DEI hire who never turned a wrench before. I had bolts backing out on their own. I hope they treat you right and you get what you paid for. Which is a high priced premium product that is not living up to the marketing bullshit. 😎
