Realization is when you notice that this video gives a lot of motivation to never depend on motivation
@samcoder6900 Жыл бұрын
It inspired me through emotions not to rely on emotions or inspiration. There's no way around this paradox. You have to activate your reward cognitive mechanisms to act on anything. Your dopamine center has to be pleased, even if it's by the idea that "you're a professional not relying on emotions".

I agree with the message of "don't rely on motivation to come to you and lift you up." But routine is just one of the standards of productivity (like eating healthy is a standard, or part of being healthy). At times you need to destress, letting go of negativity. Other times you need rest (please don't pull a 4-allnighter). Having a planner helps to make routine. As well as actually getting with it. And reaffirming yourself each step of the way. Even if it's a small step (especially if you're just starting).

This sounds like such a meaningless existence though. Just powering through a monotonous routine you very well may hate because you are "not letting your emotions win". You need a mix of both. You need to do something you enjoy, but have the perseverance to push through when that thing you enjoy doesn't become enjoyable anymore (for a short time). For example, any field of study has topics that people absolutely hate, and getting through those is where this video applies well, but just throwing away motivation seems very dangerous.
@JakeLYT2 жыл бұрын
Throwing out motivation would indeed be excessive. The takeaway from this video should be to discard excuses and escape present bias in favor of delayed gratification.

Plan your schedule, every day, week, month... That sounds truly interesting, life full of excitements. What's wrong on eating pizza and watching Netflix when feeling like it? Other day I might read a book or spend time with someone...girlfriend. That's what makes life interesting, that you don't have a schedule for everything, don't have everything planned. I can't relate to the message really. Just enjoy life, do what you like to do, when you want to do it. Don't let your job make your whole life (if you are not among those few lucky who's hobby is their job). There is more to life, than profession, job, work... At least I hope so.

Also re/no motivation - - it is very helpful to remember that motivation usually increases AFTER YOU START the task that you can't face doing.... That means that your worst few stale moments are when you are thinking of it with dread and tiredness... The solution? Whatever it takes mentally, at that moment you just need to be strong enough to BEGIN! Once you actually manage to get started the motivation thoughts increase and the hardest bit - - to BEGIN! - us over... That works well for me.

Watch Elizabeth Filip's videos on this. She has an interesting take on routine, motivational mapping and how to get things done even when you are lazy. Best I have ever watched! Good efforts Zach. Though I will emphasise that you shouldn't fight against your mind too much, it can be bratty, sure. But try to find a balance between all you want to do against all the laziness and procrastination and why your mind behaves certain way. There are underlying simplistic issues that you can resolve and work TOGETHER with your mind, like a best friend. I think as someone who gets overwhelmed easily and gets a lot of high functional anxiety, it seems it's imperative for me to not stick too much to numbers and tight schedules but rather trust myself and follow a flexible routine that doesn't seem like a punishment. Discipline is often interpreted as punishment or like a noose around your neck, i hope people understand that it's not about that, it's not in the long hours but small consistent tasks that discipline is binded and helps. Give yourself a break when you need it, don't burn out. Look for "Positive stress", rather than being the villian of your own story and inventing pressure and collapsing your system. Sure it will take time and loads of trial and error but believe me, balance is the only way to go. Your mind is your best companion, don't learn to punish it too much. Try to get along. :))

This video really is what I needed. I just graduated highschool this year and since I want to become a doctor, I started volunteer work at a hospital. I work from 6:45am to 3pm, which means I'm gone from 6am to 4pm. Afterwards I'm tired. However I should study for the medicine test you should write if you plan to study medicine in Germany. And I want to work out. Can be hard sometimes, especially since I also want to spend time with my family and friends, but since I have to get up at 5am each day, I have to be in bed by 10pm. Which gives me 6 hours a day to eat, spend time with my family and friends, study, workout and shower. 6 hours is not too bad :)

Amazing video, this is just what I needed. I will be grade 12 next year, hoping to do medicine the year after that. But it's difficult though. I'll need to do a little better on my subjects next year if I want to make it in at the start of university. I've been trying to get a productive study routine at home since school doesn't come back until jan/feb 2023. But at home it's hard to find the motivation to study school work at home consistently. But this video has really opened my eyes as to what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Success is never easy, but despite that, we still have the strength to reach it, not through motivation but through knowing our own purpose. Thanks.

What i found in my life is to much motivation depletes our ability to derive joy out of the things around us, and even makes the things that are small depressing, the dichotomy is we can stay stuck in a life that is unnecessarily hard, or things that we could have better that we dont get because we do become to still. The answers seem to be standing in the middle of western and eastern philosophical ideas
