That felt like a huge motivation boost. I planned my next steps for studying and I started cleaning up my physical environment and that’s improved my focus and motivation as well! Thank you Zach!

I loved that you mentioned that one of te reasons you may be struggling with having order in your life is having some sort of medical/psychiatric dsorder.. Even tough it ma seem obvious, if you indeed have such a condition, (even if you're aware of it ) and start watching productivity content, especially on habits(building), 5am morning routine, taking a walk or run in the morning, hitting the gym etc.---and you start to try doing these things to get yourself a bit better (better to focus, better mental clarity, energy and therefore better productivity in daily life) , downloading habit apps, etc. only to face down failure after failure after failure FOR YEARS ..offcourse because the root cause is your medical/psychiatric disorder (think; dysthemia, depression, ADD etc.)).... please don't do it!! I'm talking out of experience. Please just try to work on healing or relieving your symptomps first, indeed by working with your doctor... and then when your treatment starts to pay off, then and only then go about following up on your habit building, 5am etc! If medication is needed to help you get out of a rut/ to make your condition better; please don't shy away from it nor believe all the nonsense (from the anti-med community) about medication, and no;I'm not sponsored;). Took me years to just realise this simple advise after having binge watched an unlimited number of productivity content on YT, trying to better myself and my productivity only to fail in accomplishing any of those goals... and what does that to you ..as a person? (who is already struggling with major depression and others).. So yeah please watch out for this people and Zach Higley.. thanks so much for mentioning this as a productivity content creator.. hope your productivity peers would be attent of this as well

I have been diagnosed with ADHD recently but don't have meds yet or therapy (must wait for appointment) so I really struggle to focus even for a short amount of time. Sometimes I have hyperfocus but it vanishes quickly. The Pomodoro technique made it a little better for me. Really wanna learn programming in bootcamp soon so I need to do lots of research, change the stuff I eat (something which helps with my sickness) and so on. But I have some hope. Also great video Zach! Good advices^^

Hi Zach, I just wanted to say thank you so much for making KZbin videos! Back when I was studying for the MCAT I stumbled upon your Anki video and it seriously helped. I honestly don't think I would have crushed the MCAT without Anki and your specific settings. Now I am in medical school (MS1 🥳) so I just thought I would pop in to say hello and thanks again. I have a KZbin Chanel myself and I know editing and filming can be super time consuming. Your set up is 100x more complex compared to mine so I can only imagine how much work it is to keep up with it. Thanks from sun shiny Miami!

This is so helpful, thank you for this Zach! What I also learned recently is that when it comes to procrastinating, research shows that it's linked more to our emotional wellness than us trying to achieve more of that "time management" skill. And it's very true! Most of the time when I am procrastinating it's also because I am afraid of this email or this paper, etc. that I try to delay it as much as I can to the point that I lost my willpower to do so. Kind of reminded me in this one video of yours where you said "to eat the frogs first" 😂 so that the hard ones are out of our way!

BUt after watching this video i felt it was authentic, honest, and from the heart. Maybe bc you've been there...? but watching this lifted me up from my feelings of LOWness and help me get myself back together. I organizewd my study area, made a plan , and feel a lot more focused. Yeah, life is out of order because of my family but from outside point of view it isn't really that bad. If I just stop caring about those things I think I can go on fine as that's how I have gone through my whole life. After watching this video it made me realize the main reason behind procrastinating isn't my out of order life rather I just don't know what I want to be, why I'm studying physics when I really don't care much about it or why I'm doing math when I feel bored just after one hour and why the hell I'm studying science. I passed a big part of my life dreaming to be a doctor but now when I really have to choose I had this thinking that being a doctor isn't really my dream...other's dream who hope with me being doctor it would bring respect and money. I will have a stable life and all the hard work I had done studying would pay off. And the moment this thought came all got messed up. I lost my life direction, my future direction. However, I did try and still trying to find my passion in reality it's hard. Now, I just have to finish the board exam of high school which is next month and after that I have to sit for admission exams. Here I'm procrastinating.

3:03 In my experience, the best doctors are also researchers. I always try to get a researcher-doctor (at a university hospital) instead of someone who's a doctor only. It's about the ability to problem solve and having the curiosity and ability to explore and connect interdisciplinary fields. Recently, Science published an article about how toxicity of excess glutamate may contribute to cognitive fatigue. Given your background as a future physician - would it be possible that the issue underlying the inability to focus might actually be brain toxicity of excess glutamate? That the brain is simply suffering from a buildup?
