So happy I’ve found your channel, I need some inspiration for pediatrics! I’m in my last year of med school and now I really have to decide and pediatrics is really the only specialty that interests me and that I see myself in. Especially because with children, once you cure them, they usually get to live a long, healthy life that is still ahead of them. Which is pretty cool, if you get to help them come to that.

Hi so so glad to have found your Chanel. My son is so determined and shows the same enthusiasm you show as you talk about your life as a Paediatrician . whilst he is only 13 years old can you offer any support or advise as how me as a parent can get him more excited and encourage him to pursue this career . what books he should read, where he should start thinking of volunteering over the holidays when he gets older. I would appreciate any advise you can offer .

Amazing to hear he has such an interest in pediatrics! I recommend shadowing different doctors once he gets to high school and college years!! The exposure to the field can be really helpful before making final decisions! Usually children’s hospitals have lots of volunteer opportunities and is a great place to start looking! Hope that helps!! Best of luck to him!

ur very inspiring 💙 also i just wanna ask u how do i enhance my communication skills (esp w kids) since that its so important for pediatricians to be good at that?
@theprimarypediatrician2 жыл бұрын
That is a really good question! I think the biggest thing is practice! If you have friends or family members with children that's a great way to start! You get enough exposure to children that by the time you are fully trained as a Pediatrician you are completely fluent it communicating with babies, children and adolescents and their parents!

i work in a daycare so I can help you out. A pretty easy ice breaker is asking about their interests. For instance even though I'm 23, if I see a kid in my checkout (local homegoods store) has a Pokemon tshirt, that's a pretty easy "in". "Who's your favorite Pokemon?" And the discussion goes from there. I'd have you look up some Pokemon so you're able to give an honest answer back when the question is turned around on you.
