The edge of being a Nurse is that we work closely to all patients especially if a nurse works in a ward, ER and ICU because these nurses have the extensive backgrounds in different cases may it be in Medical, Surgical, OB or Pedia. Plus, nurses have the background in what other allied professionals (Medtech, Midwives, Pharmacists, Physical Therapists, etc.) do. Lastly, nurses work hands on in patient care. So kung ikaw any RN na with work experience as a Nurse and you are dreaming of becoming a Medical Doctor, go for it!

Sa BS Respiratory Therapy need mo ng 30 ABG radial puncture, 20 Brachial puncture, 5 femoral puncture, 5 dorsalis pedis puncture with and w/o doppler, 2 A- line insertion and suturing, 20 mechanical vent set up and hooking, 5 PFT instructing and calibration, 2 sleep studies 1 split 1 mix, 10 cpr, 40 suctioning adult and pedia, 5 assist in bronchoscopy and tracheostomy procedure, 30 chest physio therapy, 50 aerosol therapy, 10 equipment decontamination, 1 high frequency vent hooking and monitoring, 5 IPPB, 5 Incentive Spirometry, 1 treadmill, 20 ETT and trach care assist, 4 PICU and NICU rotation, 3 weeks ICU rotation before you graduate plus THESIS.

I'm a MedTech Doc and I agree that Nursing would give you an edge in Surgery. They are exposed to hands-on patient care and assisting with physicians. Much respect for them and to all allied health care professionals. Not eyeing on surgery as of now but here I am watching this vid haha.

BS Bio grad here. I graduated last 2019 and my Bio life is really wonderful in all aspects. If you want to be a general surgeon and you like dissection, subjects in bio has a lot to offer (depends on what elective you want). In my case, I had Gen Bio 1 & 2 where in animals, we dissected frogs, toads and cats, in Animal Morphoanatomy, in addition to the 3 animals, we also dissected turtles (not the endangered one), rats and dog. Lastly, in Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, we dissected most of the representative in 5 classes of Phylum Chordata. Hoping to be in Med school someday and become Neurosurgeon

Hi Doc, I am new to your channel. Very straightforward and informative. Sana, during my time meron ng YT. I took up Sports Science in college, then my ninong who is a doctor offered me to go to UST Med school. Sya mag sponsor sa akin. Kaya lang na pressure ako sa conditions kaya I declined the offer. Goal ko talaga before maging Cardiothoracic Surgeon. Naduwag lang kasi I need to maintain a grade and pag hindi ko na reach ang expecations he will stop supporting. Eh hindi afford ng parents ko ang med school. Now I am already 41 years old and may regrets kung bakit ko decline yung offer. Baka surgeon na ako now. When I watch vidoes ng mga KZbinrs na doctor na iignite yung fire but it is too late. I suggest you make a content that will help aspiring doctors or med students. On how to handle pressure. para students will not back down from pressure lalo na yung mga may scholarship. Keep it up Doc!

Speech Pathology is good if you want to specialize in ENT-HNS or Neurosurgery! We have vertebrate morphology and anatomy, neuroanatomy, and physiology subjects. We pretty much study the anaphy of the throat, ears, and mouth as well as the parts of the nervous system associated with them. 😁

I have always been in love with anatomy since college, yun po ang most favorite subject ko. But now because of the pandemic, we only had online classes so I was not able to study gross anatomy with a real cadaver po. And I'm starting to feel like choosing surgery as my residency program in the future. Makakaaffect po ba negatively yung hindi ako nakapag-aral ng cadaver during my gross ana days? Nung senior high school ako, ang target ko is BS Bio, PT, Nursing, or Pharma. So nagtake ako ng college entrance exam sa mga kilalang public universities to taget BS Bio and PT kaso hindi pinalad (IDK why😅). Dahil hindi pinalad, nag enroll na lang ako as Education student majoring in Science sa isang private school then hindi ko feel yung degree program so nagshift ako sa Civil Engineering kaso I failed to maintain the maintaining grade (doon na nawala scholarship ko.) So I stopped ( for 1st sem of A.Y. 20-21) Then before mag second semester, I tried to apply for an admission sa isang agricultural college where I admitted as Veterinary Medicine student. Hoping na magamit ko ang matututunan ko for the next 5 years kapag nag Medicine na ako. Hoping to become a EM doctor, pedia or Neurosurgeon
