I don't think the SG's scale length is actually longer, the body is just shorter. Measure them both from nut to bridge, they should both be 24.75"

*Correction: LP / SG scale length is the same.. mind is blown. I've owned couple SGs and always assumed the length was longer b/c that's how it felt. The scale length is the same as LP... but the feel is much different than an LP. I appreciate the correction comments.

Love this channel, much more authentic than a lot of other channels that often have nothing but praise for every single guitar they review no matter what. Thanks for the great content!

I agree with you about the Les Paul comfort. It's a far more comfortable guitar to playing standing up. Gibson Firebird is maaaaad under rated guitar too. Dope review

Woah woah WOAH! I love Flying Vs and find them very comfortable to play classical style while sitting (there's a trick to it!). Fortunately, you'll have to eventually review one since you're gonna do every. single. guitar. 😜

Had an SG 1966 reissue... loved it. I gave it to a friend and bought a Les Paul. I'm a Fender guy. But when I plugged that Les Paul in... WOW. I'd say it's the most versatile guitar I've ever played, and quacks and harmonics are different and you can tell you're playing a Gib and not a Fen. Uncomfortable as hell, but sounds better than heaven. My new favorite until my shoulder blows out from the weight.

Both are iconic electric guitars. You can't go wrong with either of them. But I think for softer tones such as jazz and blues, the Les Paul compliments those styles of music with more diversity.

Have them both, love the look of the LP, it's truly a gorgeous guitar, but I always reach for the SG first, it must be the weight, because I also play my ES-137 more than my LP. A buddy of mine hates the SG and thinks it's the ugliest guitar ever made. It's such a subjective thing. A GREAT channel for the (short) history of these guitars is Five Watt World, their video on the SG is excellent

I believe the scale lengths are the same. It's just that the SG neck joins the body at the last fret while the Les Paul neck joins the body at the 15th fret. So, the neck feels further away from the body.

I'm almost certain they are the same scale length. Just feels longer because of the double cutaway

The scale length is the same with either the Gibson Les Paul versus SG. But it’s still a very good demo.

I don't know why he says the Les Paul Is uncomfortable to play seated: It Is designed and patterned after a classical/acoustic guitar. I find It comfy or "normal" to play seated. I also have a Explorer, and that one Is very comfy to play seated even thou Is a real crazy design compared with the Les Paul.

The scale length is actually the same on both Gibson.

Also I want to add - the Les Paul has much better weight distribution thoughout the entire guitar from experience. The SG is very neck heavy - just like you have mentioned. But still I enjoy the GIbson ES135 the most out of all the Gibson models.

I would highly recommend checking out a Gibson SG modern, it’s a hybrid of these 2 guitars
