Current Subie guy here, former Honda hardcore fan.. My neighbor has this Pilot Trail Sport in white, and I find myself checking it out from time time, truly a beautiful car. Having owned myself everything Honda in the past (Si, CR-V, Civics, Fit, S2000, a Pilot and even an Odyssey), and seeing where Subaru it's taking its current fugly designs and getting away from its fan base, I may just go back to a Pilot Trail Sport as my next vehicle. It truly has everything one could ask for and you will never go wrong with a Honda.. I love the fact that Honda still has a true planetary gear transmission, none of that whiny CVT crap.. Great video btw!

Dude I've had my Honda Pilot trailsport 2025 for 6 months now, this was the best vehicle I ever bought. I had sold my 2023 Sierra Denali for this. I had a 3rd kid, and my god it's easy to get the baby seat in the 3rd row from the 2nd row or from the back hatch! Especially with a step installed. I love the fact it's offroad tuned and the skid plates were great, especially when I went Hog hunting last week. This thing is beautiful, decent milage, and capable! The only thing I wish it had was a higher ground clearance and front, rear enter and departure. I see the 2026 passport trailsport and I'm liking that, but I can't trade this thing in for it. This pilot is good looking, and comfortable for 6-7 people! AND it has a full size spare tire. I love this SUV so much. It does look like a giant subbie :D Ah, yea it lacks vented seats, if it had that, it would be a complete SUV, also that center console screen is wack.

I’m a Honda and Toyota guy I found Toyotas to be much tougher. All my Hondas have required major maintenance but I will say I love quirkiness of Hondas like the extra space in the back or the removable center seat or the labeling how it looks and cool. But I really didn’t consider the Honda due to Info screen V6 and aluminum suspension components. I owned a 2014 Honda pilot it was a good enough car for me to look for a replacement after it got totaled. I got the 4t grand highlander and found the low and torque and nimbleness of this car. Wonderful my wife feels like it. It’s a small car she said. Honda felt like a truck. I was talking to my phone sorry about that. Great video.❤

I'm excited to see what you do with Valerie! That's the unfortunate downside to the AWD Offroad market these days. Unless it's a Toyota or Subaru, most manufacturers seem to just throw on all terrain tires and a little more plastic and call it "Offroad ready". No additional ground clearance, no bumpers with better approach or depature angle, etc. It seem the other features of this Pilot might make up for it though, but only time will tell.
@ChasingAdventuresCO4 ай бұрын
Thanks. new mods are coming very soon. and you are correct about most manufactures throwing on some wanna be AT tires and calling it a day. however, Honda actually put some proper AT tires and lifted a inch and their i-VTM4 with trail logic system is not to be overlooked. but they missed their opportunity by leaving the same front and rear bumper as the non Trailsport models..
@edleifer671925 күн бұрын
I understand your comments about the approach and exit angles of the Pilot which don't seem to lend themselves to any serious off road adventures, even with more ground clearance this would still be an issue.

I have a 23 Pilot Trailsport. I needed to tow a fishing boat so the Subaru was ruled out initially. It tows quite well. I also take it off road to get to my hunting cabin and the AWD system works great. Wish it had another inch or two of ground clearance but the skid plates are very robust, and I have used them. Previous vehicles I have driven off road are a Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequioa. The Pilot does very well comparatively off road, and is much more comfortable on-road. 28000 miles with no issues.

Im just happy all these newer cars arent ugly. Honda looks badass , nissan looks dope , kia looks kinda funny but i did see one and thought it was a range rover same with the new Hyundai suv

@ChasingAdventuresCO I have a question, do you still like this vehicle? How long do you see yourself in it?
@bubbalo33884 ай бұрын
I was at a Honda dealership a few years back and they had a Pilot on the floor that had mods on it for the trails. It looked pretty good.

Congratulations, that is a great looking and great SUV. I like the naturally aspirated engine. Black is a tough color to keep clean but it does look beautiful on that SUV.

How’s the sound system? I have a ‘21 Passport EXL and the standard system is horrible. I know Honda went to Bose branded for their upper trim levels in 2023, but hows this base system in the trailsport?
@ChasingAdventuresCO2 ай бұрын
its not too bad for stock system, bit shallow but its ok. as I am older now, sound system doesnt matter too much. but having Bose system on previous car, I didnt like it so I changed out all the speakers and added 12" JLs

Honda will always have a place in my heart bc of the crx I had back in the day. Although I have a bmw now Honda is still one of my favorite it always will be bc of all the fun I had in that car. But I didn't even know they made a trailsport edition pilot. I think it looks good and love the inside especially the steering wheel.
@ChasingAdventuresCOАй бұрын
CRXs are awesome!! I am sure you had lots of fun with it. you should check out the new Pilot if you need lot of cargo space in the future.

My wife traded her Ascent for a Trail Sport and it’s way better than an Ascent. I do wish it had at least 9.5 inches of ground clearance but it will be fine.

I actually like the look of the new pilot. I’ve been driving 2003 pilot for the last 10 years. Looked at these, but because of mechanical features that are brand new and approach and departure angles passed on it. I was able to find a brand new 2023 GX 460 got the last of a dying breed. Approach angle and departure angle isn’t hot either but the aftermarket options are there if I wanna do it.
@ChasingAdventuresCO3 ай бұрын
That GX 460 is a good choice! You made the right decision.

2:26 There is a kit to lift the car. I'm going to do on my 2011 Pilot. For that model I will need 2" as this is the safest maximum to lift without too much stress on the axles. 4:20 Finally, the cargo is a little bit smaller. If I put 2 big bags on the wheels, standing up, I have to push the trunk door to lock it in. 5:02 On Amazon you can find a mosquito net with magnets on the sides. It's made to put on he roof when you are sleeping in the car with opened moon roof. 7:07 You are right. I'm trying to be calm here are much as possible. We have 2011 Pilot that we use for long trips most of the time and I was targeting Toyota Sequoia as a bigger and more capable suv-truck where I can add a root tent for 4 people + trailer with kitchen and utilities + Velocirax for bikes. But the recalls with engine-transmission issues are telling me that I have a good chance to get stuck somewhere. 8:10 Same here. The front looks much better than previous models. Yet, it's not aggressive enough as a SUV should look like. This is why I'm like a squirrel debating between Sequoia and Pilot.
@ChasingAdventuresCO10 күн бұрын
1. yes I would say 2 inch is max without modifying suspension. 2. cargo is smaller compared to what car? 3. that is awesome, I have to look into that. 4. if you really want a larger, more capable vehicle, you should look at the older sequoia but stay away from the newer one for now. 5. you are right, it's not as aggressive, more subtle but front end is growing on me.
@alexandrucovaliov89899 күн бұрын
@@ChasingAdventuresCO 2. I didn't explain properly in this sentence. The old 2011 Pilot cargo is smaller compared to the new one with third row seats open

I got a 25 trailsport as well. Really enjoyed your videos. Where to find the static and dynamic ratings for the roof rack? Plan to put a light roof top tent on but was not sure if it is safe to do so on OEM rail/racks. Suggestions? Thanks.

New subscriber here 😊 I’m planning to get a pilot but I’m stuck choosing from trailsport or touring. But after watching your videos I’m leaning towards trailsport now. I do live in Calgary Alberta and we do a lot of camping and hiking. Thank you for the videos and looking forward to see more on your adventure 😊

Enjoy. Im not a fan of the panoramic moon roof. The capability for trails as a unibody vehicle is tempting. Will you install a further lift for more ground clearance?
@ChasingAdventuresCO3 ай бұрын
for us, our daughter love the panoramic roof, she loves seeing clouds so it worked out, although, now I have a RTT so its pointless. I will be doing a 1.5" lift in the future.

I just wish they will get on with a hybrid system to cover the dreadful 20 mpg combined avg fuel economy and a bigger screen (w/ google integration like the ones on new accord/new upcoming passport, etc.)/fully digital gauge on the refresh and it'll win me over for sure. I like everything else about this Pilot!
@ChasingAdventuresCO2 ай бұрын
I agree on the bigger screen, and if they had a hybrid version, MSRP will be higher so it wouldn't make sense to most people plus, it would only gain few more MPG.
