My reason for wanting to leave the US is just a deceitful and wicked place. Ppl are getting killed by the police, bullying is becoming ok, working until you’re burned out with very little pay, etc. I’m definitely not rushing because I know moving is a huge deal especially relocating to a different country is stressful and a lot of work. But somewhere has to be better than here. Congrats on your move🎉🎉

You can literally see how at peace and content you are!. On that note of complacency you touched on. Another thing, that I’ve learnt the hard way 🤡….Is that fear destroys everything. A big difference lies in seeing a real problem that could appear with a certain goal in mind versus adopting a fear based mindset that ultimately just takes you no where. I would haven’t met my career goals if I didn’t sort the *lens* that I view certain opportunities and goals through. Amazing video, love this for you 🤍

Honestly WORD I completely agree with you. *If you are the problem,* whether you move/ change your environment, basically do nothing to solve the fact that you are the problem, *you better believe that the new environment you choose to run away to will also have the same set of problems that you had in the previous environment.* *When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.* *- Anthony J. Very inspiring Lamide. This is for everyone who is looking to make that transition to a new job, especially when one feels like they are stuck in a old boring or routine based job where they keep hitting a brick wall when trying to climb the corporate ladder. When in reality all they are seeking for is that career progression that will make them level up in all areas of their lives. Thanks for sharing Lamide.. See you at the Own Your Money Webinar.

Thank you so much for sharing as always. Absolutely love the contentment and complacency angle. However desperation isn’t always bad, sometimes you just know deep inside that you need to be somewhere else or doing something else or a different career and many times one isn’t even 100% sure what that next thing should be at the start, but taking that step and moving out of the uncomfortable situation sometimes goes a long way. It’s not always crystal clear and you’re absolutely right, one can’t negotiate properly from that standpoint but it’s a move in a forward direction out of that uncomfortable situation.

Theres a book on this called the happiness paradox. The idea is by chasing happiness/contentment you are constantly addressing your lack of happiness which in turn makes you more unhappy. So moving to chase happiness is counter productive. The trick is to focus on growing as a person over time.

Hi Lamidé! It would be cool after you settle in to make a video about the pros & cons of living in Dubai. The lifestyle. Work/Life balance. Social scene. Transport links. The laws & political climate: which can be a dealbreaker for some😅 I’ve met people who take a moral stance against Dubai as a city continuing to be built on human trafficking, modern slavery, and the exploitative Kafala system, importing labour from the developing world,confiscating passports, and forcing them to work, sometimes without pay, which has been condemned by human rights groups worldwide… I know there was similar discourse on Qatar using the same system during the World Cup. How do you reconcile those darker sides of Dubai that blue collar migrants face and contrast it with the benefits of people like yourself living as more privileged white collar expats in Dubai? Would be interesting to hear your perspective.
@codedealers7501 Жыл бұрын
how do we justify it living in Londo?> this city was built on the same exploitation too
@hadeyoambaro1704 Жыл бұрын
The BRITISH empire has been the catalyst for most of the worlds suffering. Through colonialism (Common wealth) and slavery in the Caribbean. Most of the lords in the House of Lords and other barons/dukes are direct beneficiaries from these past systems. Point being don’t throw rocks in glass houses, the west is in no position to lecture.
@Jay-Kay-Buwembo Жыл бұрын
@@codedealers7501 🤔 maybe if you look back to the slave trade, but London was not hand built by an exploited human trafficked underclass who work in horrific conditions and die in the thousands on construction sites.

Both you and Aliyah Maria Bee moved to Dubahi at a similar time. First I seen her go and then next thing you know a video from you pops up to day you've gone too😂😅 That's why I was thinking oh wow seems like Dubahi is the next UK or something lol

In addition to this, I met a girl in real life and she started university during Covid-19. An offer was given to her to have real estate in Dubai and now she lives there and works there. I remember there was actually a period where everyone from the UK seemed to pretty much be holidaying in Dubahi (I believe this was like a year ago) and nowadays people are migrating there. I guess that's why everyone is like 'everyone is moving to Dubahi' LOL😂😭 I am here to say that I have never been and I do plan to visit in the future, but for now I do not see myself moving there. I like the UK😊

Can you do a video on building wealth while paying rent in an expensive city? I just graduated last summer and am working in London, but it's practically impossible to save/invest more than £600 a month with these rent prices. Half of this goes towards my emergency fund and the other half is invested in an index fund, but I want to accelerate my wealth building.

You need other streams other than your job babe xx that’ll help a lot. Or move outside of London to where you can commute but the lifestyle is cheaper. Birmingham/ Manchester, or closer, Milton Keynes, borehamwood, Watford… but definitely look at ways to add other streams of Income

@@rubzziiee I did the same 😂 The only way I was able to build up my savings and invest was because I lived at home. Anyone else I know who moved out and rents struggles. Rent is a trap.

@@musiclover0445 Watford and Borehamwood as well as other commuter towns can sometimes be even more expensive than just living in a bad part of London esp Watford (tbh watford’s pretty grim too). House shares or living at home are the only ways any Londoner is able to build wealth here.

Inspirational and very wise! Contentment is a blessing, but complacency can be such a dangerous thing so well done for fighting against it. I’ve lived in a few different countries and always remembered if I don’t like it, I can always go back to the U.K. It’s not a failure staying out of the U.K. or returning to the U.K., it means you’ve grown and experienced and know what you do or don’t want.

One last thing I want to say is that what you have is not happiness but joy. With joy nobody can take that from you, but happiness is a feeling that comes and goes. Joy is something innate that stands no matter the circumstance you are in. looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; *who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,* despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 KJV Because Jesus had Joy, he was able to endure being crucified on the cross. Happiness is a feeling and Joy is innate because it comes from the Holy Spirit. Therefore no matter the external circumstance, you will be able to see it through with joy.

Jeremiah 7 :12-21(KJV) But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not; Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh. And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim. Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee. Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
