She's alive again! That hand plane has sat on the shelf in my shop ever since I got it without ever being used. I'm glad to see you breathing life back into it and putting it to some use. Have fun, Davis!

I love Drew Fisher's channel. He's king of the dad joke. He's very entertaining and his projects are always creative. One of my favorites.

Your videos are always so addicting to watch, 22 minutes later and I'm still watching. Great input about used vs new tool value, I have to say I agree with all of you about springing for a new tool and not worrying so much about cost.

Good suggestions on buying used and the rational for it or against it. I am not an owner of a woodworking business yet, just a hobbiest a this point. You covered purchasing tools on another video and I would add buy the one you want to own for a long time the first time. I purchased a "toy" for my first table saw, sold it at a yard sale bought a better toy, sold that on Craigslist then bought a real table saw used on Craigslist. At the end of the day considering the purchase price of all 3 saws and the money I got back on the 2 sales, I effectively spent about $1k on my current tablesaw. Had I been patient and not made poor purchases my current saw would have only cost $500 not $1000. I would like to have spent that other $500 on other tools etc. I have also purchased a used 3HP dust collector that I'mm very happy I got USED. A dust collector is not that sexy or fun but necessary, it was great to get it half off new. Good luck with the business and channel keep up the good content.

Careful restoring old planes, they can become addictive. You start out getting 2 or 3 that you can really use then the next thing you know you've got 40+ hanging on the wall. 😉

Ok so I’ve just paused the video at around 5 minutes to type this without missing anything. I just wanted to say that restoring hand planes is EPIC dude. I’m proud of you for having a go at it. If you ever need to do some heavy rust removal, google ‘electrolysis rust removal’. Done right, it’s fantastic. Quick, clean and easy. I just got a notification that you’d added me as a friend over on Makers Playground so if you ever have any questions about using electrolysis for rust removal, feel free to shoot me a message over there and I’ll give you some pointers. Cheers mate! Keep up the awesome work! Now I’ll go back to watching your video 😆👍🏻 Edit: I meant to mention, I love the look of this Sargent 711. I have a Sargent 722 (22 inch jointing plane), the body is in very good condition but I need to find a replacement iron, chip breaker and blade cap, which will cost me about $200AU to get sent over here from America. Ouch 🤕 Cheers again 😎

Thank you for the tips! Geez that's expensive for just a few old parts... I guess these things really are rare. Haha thanks for finding us! Can't wait to see how the Playground evolves.

Ah, that’s Australian dollars lol. About $45US for the iron from memory plus shipping, into Australian dollars, it adds up quickly. I have the utmost of faith in Izzy and his development partners. I do have a couple of suggestions for the playground but I believe it will do very well. Keep up the good work here guys, I’ve been a subscriber since you stated taking off, about 400-700 subscribers I think from memory. I’m looking forward to hearing how the big move goes! 😄

You should really add upgrades to your dust collector. Wynne filter, supper dust deputy, directly connect the blower to the d.d. and directly connect to filter. You will be amazed at how much better it is.

I think it was James Wright of Wood by Wright that mentioned filtering for "granddad" on craigslist in a video about where to find used hand tools
