I personally love their pairing- a princess who often felt not listened to by the people around her and her knight who truly listens to her. Link is happy to just listen to Zelda when she rambles on about stuff she loves. Also, in the first game, we’re told that Link once opened up to her about some personal things, which shows he really feels comfortable with her. He is willing to travel across Hyrule and back to find her, which I would say means she means a hell lot to him. And they share a house. And they’re always together, to the point where everyone immediately thinks Zelda is back because Link is.

A few more points to add even more evidence to this theory: 1: Giving armor as a proposal gift is a Zora tradition, one that Link would be very familiar with as it's been stated that he grew up near the Zoras Domain and spent a lot of time there. 2: The armor the Zora give to their partners is fashioned out of their own scales. And what resources do you need to upgrade the champions tunic? Light dragon scales (and other parts). So the armor Zelda wanted to give to Link is technically "made with" her scales, and therefore the Zora tradition comes full circle.

See, their love for each other was already strongly implied in the first game. See, for Zelda, it’s stated by Cass and his late teacher that it was the love for her knight that the princess awakened her power. If that’s not enough, here’s some more. After Link saves her life from the Yiga clan, Zelda begins to sympathize with Link, because before this she yelled at him and still he took the time to save her. That is indeed his knightly duties, but we’ll get to him in a bit. Zelda then makes sure that whenever they’re out together, she would put the time to get to know him. During one day, after she discovers Link’s gluttonous attitude to food, she is able to figure out why he never talks. Link then decides to audibly tell Zelda that (basically) he has imposter syndrome of being the one to seal the darkness at such a young age, and feels the need to make himself noble and serious by simply not talking. MIPHA out of all people couldn’t get Link to tell her why he became the way he was. Mipha, his closest friend at the time and closest thing to a girlfriend aside Zelda at this point. From then, the two become closer, with Zelda wishing to become close enough to where the two can share each other’s demons, or more accurately their feelings and insecurities. The rest from there is history. Except for one thing. This is far from a platonic relationship. Aside from Link going out of his way to pour his guts to Zelda, there’s some things that imply his love for her is just as strong as hers to him. During the peak of the calamity, where all the champions are dead and the kingdom is on the brink of destruction, Zelda and Link are running from the chaos when she suddenly trips. Link stops running and comes over to help her. But, he sees her distress, and instead of fulfilling his knightly duties to hurry her to safety, he sits down and lets her cry. After she bellows out her sorrows, calling herself a failure and whatnot, she throws herself into Link’s arms for emotional support. And, he does. He hugs her back and let’s her cry before they continue running and encounter the guardian that causes Link to fall and collapse. But this isn’t the end. Once the quest to rescue Zelda begins, there’s something interesting in the Japanese version of the game. In the English version, it’s third/second person. But in the Japanese version, it’s first. And on the main quest description to rescue Zelda, Link expresses his desire to save Zelda, to take her out of the physical, mental, and emotional torment she’s in. He wants to see her smile again, and will stop at NOTHING to save her. If this isn’t the most wholesome thing on the planet, I don’t know what is. But it doesn’t end there. At the end of the game, during the not so secret ending, Zelda and Link share the most beautiful moment in the franchise. After Zelda states they need to check up on Vah Ruta, she walks for a bit before stopping. She expresses how her power has dwindled, and she won’t be able to awaken it for a while. But, she turns to Link and says that’s fine, and accepts the fact. Looking at Link, she gives him a wide goofy smile, laughing as Link happily approaches her. This is it. Zelda fulfilled her wants to share her emotions with Link. And Link got to experience his wants and saw Zelda smile. They then walk to their horses, while thousands and thousands of blooming Silent Princesses surround them. I bring attention to that because the Silent Princesses are stated to be a symbol of love. This is concrete evidence that these blond Hylians are infatuated with each other. Speaking of Silent Princesses, once you collect all Zelda’s memories (or Tears of the Kingdom lol), you come out and see a bunch of Silent Princesses surrounding you, NEED I SAY MORE- Edit: Not to be rude, but y’all the definition of “Long” = “bad”. Also thanks for the likes I guess. Edit 2: To be rude. If y’all don’t shut the hell up ima chew your meats. Shaddup.

There is one slight problem. In Breath of the Wild, the guardian is not what killed Link. Sure, the guardian weakened Link and almost killed him, but Zelda was the one who delivered the final blow to Link (and the guardian) because she recklessly used her light power. If Zelda really cared about Link, she would have made sure to not accidentally hurt Link.

Plus, the person who creates the house in BOTW states after Hudson's wedding that flower petals flying in the wind are a sign of love. And what do we see in the final cutscene? silent princess petals flying in the wind, as link runs to zelda in an open grassy field, and the camera pans outwards to a silent princess flower.

@@Shawblade A couple things I’d like to address: One: Neither the guardian or Zelda killed Link. I mentioned he collapsed and fell, basically on the brink of death if not given treatment right away. Fi (the mastersword) literally tells Zelda there’s still a chance to save him. Not to bring him back or anything like that, but to save him via Shrine of Resurrection. Two: The sentiment that Zelda accidentally killed Link is laughable to say the least. First, she didn’t kill him. He only collapsed. Secondly, her power is able to destroy malice and Ganon’s minions. In Age of Calamity, Zelda awakens her powers because Link is in a corner and can’t fight off each version of Ganon’s Calamities by himself. After they are disabled, we see the magic fading as Link, WHO WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LIGHT EXPLOSION, unfazed. Even Astor, Ganon’s main worshiper and bishop, merely blinded by the light Zelda produces. But fine, let’s just say Zelda DID accidentally killed Link and he fell so his death because Zelda accidentally killed him. The sentiment that Zelda didn’t care enough for Link to hold down her power is so stupid it sounds like you ate the Theory Theory No Mi: Model Stupid. Aside from being stated that the power of the Princess came for the love she had for her knight, she didn’t even try to unleash it in both Age of Calamity and Breath of the Wild. In AoC, Zelda was desperately reaching for Link because she was in emotional distress and didn’t want to see another close friend (or lover in Link’s case) of hers dead because she couldn’t be there. Same for BOTW, accept she could only mildly push Link out of the way and put out her hand to take the shot. Even if we take the wild leaps in logic to assume she knew how to bring out her powers in BOTW, and it did indeed cause Link to “die”, HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW HOW TO CONTROL IT?! She just unlocked her powers, it would be insane for her fully understand how to actually control the use of her powers. And before you say “she studied for it all her life of course she would know how to master it heyup,” then stop. You can study the mechanics and mechanisms of a car all your life and still struggle once you’re actually behind the wheel. To say Zelda didn’t care enough for Link to slow down her powers is laughable. Her awakening is based purely off of love and desperation to save Link as well as the entirety of Hyrule. I’m open for discussion.

That still doesn't explain why Zelda thought it would be a good idea to use her light power when Link could easily get caught within her attacks radius? Also, if Zelda really cared about Link, why didn't she at least TRY to use her light power BEFORE the guardian hits Link? Why did she wait until after to attempt to use the light power? Also, if Zelda really cared about Link, why did she blame Link because she couldn't use the Sheikah Slate in another memory? In Age of Calamity, Zelda's light power did not harm Link because her power was enhanced by the little egg guardian. In fact, the entire reason why many events in AoC were different from BotW was because of the little egg guardian. It made all the difference, including why Zelda's light power didn't harm Link and why Rhoam and the 4 champions survived. Zelda should've had more control over her light power. What you said about the car mechanic is true, however, in a memory, Rhoam tells Zelda to stop playing with toys and focus on awakening her powers. If she'd focused more on awakening her powers, I'm sure the Goddess Hylia would've seen her dedication and helped her awaken her power. But because the Goddess Hylia did not help Zelda, it could be because she didn't see enough dedication in Zelda. No matter what people say, flowers are only flowers. There are Silent Princesses in Hyrule Field after defeating Ganon, but remember that a few minutes ago, Dark Beast Ganon was also on Hyrule Field. Does this mean Link loves Ganon? Does this mean Zelda loves Ganon? Obviously not. The reason I think Zelda and Link are not in a relationship is because Zelda is a princess, and Link is her bodyguard. They stay together so that Link can protect her from a sudden Yiga or bokoblin ambush. I'm open to discussion as well!

Also I’d like to keep this open minded, fair, and respectful without hatred or hostility between us. Firstly, I would believe that Link did die. Zelda could merely sense the fact that Link had the chance to be revived. But this does not imply that Zelda didn’t care for Link so much that she loosely fired her light powers with no regard for Link at all. It’s literally stated by Kass and his again late teacher in the Champion’s ballad dlc that it was the love for her fallen knight did the princess awakened her power. Zelda wasn’t trying to rank up kills like a COD match and threw Link’s life away just to awaken her power. I’m still in belief she had no idea her power was truly there when getting in front of Link to stop the blast from the attacking guardian. While Rhoam telling Zelda to focus on training more than studying Guardians is true, to say that’s what she only did instead of training is laughable for both cases of AoC and BOTW. She tried her damn hardest and was put in imposter syndrome and near mental damage because of her failed efforts. While this isn’t as strong in AoC, she was close to emotional turmoil when she figured herself worthless. More to the point, she tried and at the moment when all the champions are dead and Hyrule was on the brink of collapse, seeing the one last person she could love in any matter get blown away by a laser is something should couldn’t even comprehend. And so, in desperation to save her knight whom she loves. Now, about the tiny Egg Guardian giving Zelda the proper strength to fend off the Guardians without harming Link, REALLY? Terreko didn’t give Zelda a Gatorade boost, he just changed the events of what happened by merely existing in that timeline. From what we see, because Terreko brought the champion’s descendants to help the champions against the calamity, they didn’t die. This allowed for battles to be won that weren’t won in the BOTW timeline. This means that Link and Zelda had plenty of energy and options, and when Link is backed into a corner by the revived blight calamities, Zelda reaches out in desperation to save her knight (whom she loves) and inadvertently unleashed her light power. Terreko couldn’t and didn’t do shit when she ran for him. Now, despite Link being smack in the middle of that explosion and survived, let’s say he was effected by Zelda’s magic during the BOTW timeline. I mean, if you replay missions involving Gerudo and Rito, you can use Zelda and beat the shit out of those guys despite them not being monsters or enemies from Ganon. Those aren’t exactly canon events, but let’s say they are. It’s still fairly stupid to say she didn’t give a big enough shit for Link to control her light powers. She just fired them, how could she control her firepower. It’s like you were given the strength and power of Goku, and in an act of desperation to save your closest person from a car crash or an attack, you’re power would be so grand it’d end up killing your person entirely. Now, as for Zelda controlling her power, that’s a fairly different story. Like I said, she tried her hardest and those small moments where she went off and played with Guardians and studying wildlife are a fraction of her schedule. Now, can she have spent a lot more time training? Absolutely. Does this affect how her love or plain care for Link in their final moments? Hell no. The story of Zelda in general is her stepping out of her comfort zone and facing her problems head on instead of only kinda trying for them. Don’t get me wrong she tried hard, but you’re right in the aspect of her could’ve training harder. But again, this doesn’t affect her view to Link. Those moments of Rhoam telling Zelda to work harder happen before she and Link began growing closer. It’s just horrible to assume Zelda had Link in the last place in her mind when she awakened her power. This is the last thing and shorter, but I also found out some neat things about the flowers. For the Silent Princesses themselves, I gave them way too much credit in terms of being symbols of love. They aren’t that big of a symbol, but, multiple NPCs state that if you confess your love to a blooming Silent Princess, it’ll be blessed with good fortune. This isn’t as a big piece of evidence that they’re a symbol of love, but it’s there even if it’s small. Now, it is stated by one of the people who built Link’s house that flowers blooming in the wind are a sign of love and something else but I forgot. What do you see at the not so secret Ending? Silent princess blooming and flowing in the wind. Again, not as big a piece of evidence, but it’s there nonetheless. That, topped with Zelda sharing her demons with Link as she wished, on top of Link getting to see Zelda smile again and removing her from the stress she’s endured, that, topped with Cass and his mentor (who was a musician of the royal family before the calamity) stating that it was the love for her knight that gave Zelda her powers, TOPPED with Zelda getting the silent mf Link to admit his origins when Mipha, Link’s closest friend and potential lover couldn’t. All of it (plus the evidence described in this video) shows that Zelda and Link have nothing but love and affection for each other. In conclusion: Zelda may have contributed to Link dying and the flowers aren’t that big of a symbol for love. But, Zelda absolutely cared for Link for both AoC and BOTW and the flowers are still a symbol of love despite its minor size. I’m still open for discussion.

Id say third, maybe fourth time, that this has been the case, since in skyward sword they were CLEARLY a couple, and in spirit tracks they're somewhat romantic i think. @@Hiddenone8926 well the link from wind waker is the zelda from wind waker’s husband, they had children, whom in turn had a daughter, the zelda from spirit track, hence the link from wind waker is the grandfather of the zelda from spirit track, the name zelda is transmitted from mother to daughter, hence every zelda is a descendant from a previous zelda, but for link it’s totally different, the different link are not related at all, they are chosen heroes fro their respective time, hence the link from wind waker and the link from spirit track aren’t related, only the spirit track zelda is related to the link from work waker , hope that helps

For example, Windwaker link takes place in a timeline where Ocarina of Time Link COULDNT have had children. In most cases, the new link is unrelated to the previous one
