Omg so glad you got the caramel bag back, she’s stunning. And I agree with you if not always liking the worn out vintage look. I took bought a classic flap that had a lot of wear and tear and send it to the spa but after I feel like I didn’t like the feel and look of the leather anymore so I sold it , no regrets

I totally get it. As far as vintage, especially Louis Vuitton I'm over the slouching, smells, and repairs. I finally got my hands on a Cerises Pouchette for only $395 and still feel like I'm settling cause the cherries are so worn. I don't feel "proud" carrying it. The preloved market can be challenging.

I have made the shift away from vintage bags too. Now that I’ve learned how to take care of my bags, I find that many vintage bags have not been treated well. Like you mentioned, the misshapen issues are common. It also hard to clean them unless they are leather lined.

Hi Jess! I love vintage bags and I enjoy restoring them. I definitely understand the appeal of a newer bag though. I have vintage and newer classic flaps and I go back and forth on which I prefer. I wish I had known u were selling that brown vintage classic flap 🥺

I don’t have any Chanel but a couple years ago I bought a vintage small single flap bag, which was soo small and more worn than I imagined. It was very soft leather but it was still OLD and it was $2200. I sent it back and I think I’ve learned my lesson.

You might not notice the chipping on the hardware of the newer bags because they're newer, it's to be expected that it'll be more noticeable on older bags.

i knooooow it really depends! Some styles you can only buy preloved (like a caviar mini for example) but even if it is preloved for me it needs to be very very good condition

It’s so hard to make the choice to have a bag spa’d and the. To buy a bag that’s been to the spa.. in my experience I’d have to be keeping the bag to get it spa’d in the future - I’ve had the same experience as you!

@@Jessiestyle yes same, I got my Speedy repainted and same thing about the leather texture… it’s something a lot of resellers don’t disclose either about a bag having been restored… unless you specifically ask.

Unfortunately for picky me, I don't enjoy vintage anything. I only buy pre owned when the condition is excellent or as new. I wish I wasn't this way because it would be cheaper but I don't fight the feeling bc it just causes regret and resale. Loved your video Jess.

Hmm I only wish Chanel was more transparent about their restoration policy. I bought my white classic flap and black reissue from the boutique, and they told me the 5 year warranty applies to all classic/reissue bags regardless of color. They said they would restore/clean the leather of the my white bag and replace the hardware if needed. I know in writing it only mentions black bags, and I find that so odd... so it means we never have a guarantee...

Vintage is not for me either. I prefer buying new from the boutique, although I’ve scored a few preloved new/excellent condition Chanel bags recently. My collection has changed so much in the last year as well. 😉
