not to throw shade but this cat gets it. he made nothing today in a profit but what he actually made is worth way more then a few bucks. relationships are worth everything in any business.

"No profit" is a stretch. The dealership still makes Hold Back, Floor Plan and Advertising assistance. They also mark up the interest rate and never give you the buy rate. They also make profit on whatever is purchased in the finance office. Plus any other incentives the manufacturer gives. So "0 profit" is not being completely truthful. On a lease I wont pay more than $250 over dealer invoice.

Even if you didn't make profit initially, it's a unit count and think of future revenue (service, parts, etc) plus possibly a repeat buyer in the future! Plus dealers usually hit the jackpot just on fees.

dealers sell cars all the time at "no profit"... I mean no profit to the sales guy all the time, but the dealership is still making money even at under invoice

They make money. The car was probably sold end of month June, letting Russ and his dealership hit volume quota and avoid another month of lot fees. Plus holdback and a whole host of other incentives that don’t show on the invoice. Invoice is pretend, just like MSRP now that most of the free money from PPP loans is drying up and the economy normalizes.
