I got really shocked hearing those numbers about the taxes you paid in CA, especially the exit tax which was beyond ridiculous. Anyways, now living in Dubai, time to make some more money! 💸💸💸

Hi Tim, I am an Emirati from Dubai, and I used to literally **study** your Python and AI videos when I was a high school student during lockdown, I even remember your pygame series being used by one of my teachers to teach game development. So I just wanted to say thank you and a warm welcome to the UAE! In regard to your video, the three reasons that you’ve mentioned do not come as a surprise to me. Dubai (and the UAE) has always strived to be a welcoming place for all walks of life. This includes the heavy promotion of cultural and religious tolerance and co-existence in the country (look at the Abrahamic House in Abu Dhabi for example), and in contrast to certain racist stereotypes, gender equality is also promoted as 50% of our national parliament consist of women and we’re also planning to send a female astronaut to space, and she quite recently became the first Arab woman to graduate from NASA’s astronaut program. (Not to forget that our space program is currently being run by Sarah Al Amiri, who’s done such an exceptional job so far) It’s also quite easy to setup a startup in the UAE, taxes, registration, recruiting from abroad is a very concise process, and I wasn’t aware of the whole political neutralness thing until I saw Tucker Carlson’s interview with Pavel Durov (Telegram founder, actually headquartered here) who brought up interesting things regarding that domain. You haven’t mentioned this (or maybe I’ve missed it) but there are also programs that aim to keep talented expats who have contributed immensely here through the golden visa or even obtaining citizenship. That being said, with Dubai being such a cosmopolitan city, people often overlook the local culture when they’re here. And being an Emirati, it’s really annoying when people come here on vacation and leave before complaining that Dubai is soulless or whatever when they’ve only visited Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina. So please don’t be that person! Really sorry for the essay I just wrote, but once again, welcome to Dubai!

The current thumbnail, with the white area around your head, doesn't seem to represent you as well as your videos do. It might affect how viewers recognize you on their feeds. Perhaps a new photo that aligns more closely with your on-camera look could attract more viewers for the right reasons. Just a thought!

If money is what you're looking for and you don't plan on setting down - then sure, that's why their ruling is more lenient - you wouldn't want to live in the neighbouring stricter Muslim countries. Anyway, be careful, as long as you're on good terms with the authorities it's all fine, but their punishments are no joke, and it's possible that you'd be abandoned by your home country in case something goes wrong (zero tolerance towards drugs, no affection towards the other sex in public, absolutely no showing of affection towards the same sex etc.. the opposite side of the same coin that gives you peace when you sleep at night with the door unlocked).
@Life-With-Tim5 ай бұрын
Hmmm, have you been here? I’m aware of the punishments but I can tell you I’ve seen all those things happening daily (minus drug use) and no one seems to bat an eye here.

@@Life-With-Tim I'm from the ME and got family members who have vacationed in the UAE, which isn't quite the same as relocating, but the repercussions for not following the local laws would be similar. Again, this country is more "forgiving" than the surrounding countries, so they wouldn't chop off your hand for stealing like in the neighbouring countries (that strictly follow the Islamic rules), but carrying drugs would get you jailed for a really long time, and carrying too much of it will get you straight up executed. They want foreign businesses to settle in and invest, just don't get too comfortable and feel like you're as free as in a western country such as US. If you ever feel unhappy for example - you move and then criticize, instead of criticizing while still living there.

I think it’s going to be an unpopular opinion but I am actually in favor of high taxes as long as those taxes are being put to good use like social services, infrastructure, public transportation, etc… I truly believe and am supported by research that after a certain amount, more money doesn’t make people any more happy. So why not put that money towards things that will improve peoples quality of life.
