The price would increase maybe by a thousand or two but to the current owner of the bag she's secure enough to know that she can recoup the $5,800 if she decides to sell it later. Even if she sells it for a little less due to wear and tear, it would still be a good sale for her.

Most do both. The bags are assets that may not generate as much as real estate would but fairly easy to liquidate, transport and are also fun.

@@marisamorais3150 I called them assets-which they are. Assets and investments mean different things. A few handbags are investments in that they appreciate for way higher than what you paid for it, but the opportunity for growth isn’t there like it is with traditional stocks. Most people who are spending well over $2k, $3k, $5k+ for a handbag are well aware of this and have pretty well rounded investment portfolios. Whatever value they have in handbags, a lot of them have at least 10x that in traditional investments. They are also ready to sell and recoup most of not all the cost that they paid if they are ever in a pinch, easily setting on $20k+ that can be liquidated quickly without touching the traditional investments. Edited to add: you can actually use a bag and it still sell for more than what you paid. It all just depends on what the bag is

Luxury market rise and fall with the general economy. Higher prices in luxury products might is not necessarily correlated with true price appreciation. Rather, Federal Reserve monetary policies, such as printing money, has caused price distortion in the Luxury handbag market just as it has in other asset classes. It will be interesting to see how Channel Bag prices will hold up during the next recession, or will there be an increase supply of these bags at your local pawn shops or secondary online marketplace.
