I just picked up a boost blue 2021 Type R and love it lol had a 2015 wrx then 2015 bmw 2 series M sport and now the type R. I still have the bmw but the Type R handles way better and fun to drive!

If you like the look of the HKS legamax, it sounds super good catless. It reminds me of the catless q300 that you had on your wrx. Not too loud when cruising, but it opens up when you get on it. Affordable too. Just don't go tomei, I learned my lesson LOL

Go to an exhaust shop and have a custom one made. It'll be exactly tailored to what you want/need and a lot cheaper as a bonus.

go for invidia g5 full titanium exhaust - noticeable increased hp. It weighs less than 50% of stock. Or you can go for js racing full titanium. All other stainless steel exhausts on the market are not as good.

Awe released a new exhaust, i have their previous touring exhaust and it sounds great but a little to loud. The new one is made for catless dp so it should be better!

I done PRL front pipe only but I didn’t realize that the OEM front pipe is designed for OEM cat flow , I was told using bigger frontpipe with stock exhaust is bad for the turbo as the exhaust needs to be less restrictive than the front pipe, Meaning if your go 3inch front pipe you must maintain the 3” throughput the exhaust . I ended up going back fully stock and car is quieter but feels quicker,

I think the revised FK8 must have a slightly redesigned heat shield as i didn't have to loosen or remove anything when i changed my front pipe. pulled it back, twisted it 90 degrees and it came out.

3" straight pipe literally sounds the best. Idk what it is with this platform but all the aftermarket exhausts (maybe excluding the AWE Tuning Track Edition) doesn't make it sound too good.

I noticed a notable change over stock with just the downpipe on a custom tune, aftermarket exhausts do not flow better than stock therefor no power gains to be had just noise

Dude. I agree with both points!!!!!! I honestly do not want mines to be loud. Guess my age shows... Already had loud cars for many years. It did get bit louder with my catless downpipe... As far as power goes .. la romana (R from PR) is doing like 550whp on stock exhaust, so I'm not really worried at all for my goals.
