3D is awesome, it's truly one of the greatest physical media formats and I prefer it to uhd to be honest lol, I also have a 3DTV but plan to eventually get a projector or laser tv to keep 3d alive. It's great too since they can be played on the Quest vr headset with the 4xvr software, so even without a 3DTV there is a future for them. Just need a pc with a bluray drive to get the files off haha. As you mentioned some discs in 3D contain imax or other special footage (for example Dune which looks quite different on the 3D version with different shot framing and clearer image). What you can do is grab the files and then play them back in 2D (even stripping the 3D mvc track and leave it only in 2D) then you can have 2D IMAX versions of e.g. marvel movies which are otherwise stuck on disney plus. You are correct that they are becoming rare - almost all are out of print so now is the time to collect before they get scarce.. some discs are beginning to get crazy in terms of pricing, and producers are going out of business like Random Space Media. I've done a lot of work testing different versions to identify issues/differences, syncing subs and audio tracks so that english viewers can watch foreign 3d releases etc, the blu-ray forum is great for that kind of community so definitely dive into the subforum for 3d there! I had 7 3d blu rays from when my family got a 3D Samsung OLED tv in the early 2010s. I just bought a 4k projector that does 3D movies and a 120 inch screen as an early birthday gift to myself for turning 30 haha. I also got 7 great 3D movies to go with it. Thanks for your video!

Building up a 3D collection -start with film from the 1950’s such as ‘The Mad Magician’, ‘Inferno’ . ‘Kiss Me Kate’ or ‘Dial M for Murder’ which are filmed with a 3D camera - NOT converted in Post Production as in most modern 3D films, so that you can tell the difference. There are something like 500 films to buy so plenty to search for.

I definitely do, bought several last month, haven't watched it yet, ordererd 1 today! The good stuf I keep in my collection, if the movie itself is good or at least entertaining + kinda good 3D, the bad stuff get's thrown out, don't keep them, and then there are, in the middle, not realy part of my collection, kinda bad movies, but with kinda good 3D, stuff I wouldn't watch because of the movie itself, or version. Was hoping 3D get's revived again, because of "Avatar 2", but that seems to be the case only in theater & in Asia on physical...

I have over 698 movies and 159 of them are in 3d , i have a 4k projector with a 120 inch screen with a 5.2.4 dolby atmos dedicated room .

2D image= mono image, 3D image= STEREO image!!! .....It is like the mono or STEREO sound!

I have had 3d blu rays for years but only a handfull of them. But recently i have really upped my game and spent a small fortune on them. I have been scouring second hand (thrift) stores and Amazon/ebay. I just purchaced a 3D laser projector that hasn't been delivered yet. I am so excited to get it and try it out.

I'm still hoping that VR 3D movie watching is going to reignite the 3D movie market. The experience actually rivals what you get in an actual 3D IMAX theater.

I love 3D Movies, I can't say enough about them. I've bought just about every 3D movie ever made that I wanted except for a few that might be some animation for younger kids etc. My latest 3D movie I just bought recently was: "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" on 3D Blu-Ray. I don't think this movie was ever shown in 3D here in the US but I did find some 3D Blu-Rays in Asia and I can honestly say it is the best and most stunning 3D movie I've ever seen or witnessed. If you liked this movie in the theatre which was shown in 2D, I can honesty say, if you haven't seen it in 3D, you really haven't seen this movie! Especially the way it was designed and meant to be experienced in 3D. This whole movie is visually all about the 3D, I can't imagine it being experienced or seen in any other format! When I bought Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow" on 3D Blu-Ray, I actually had to order it from China, the whole menu on the disc was even in Chinese. China was the only county at that time, that released a 3D Blu-Ray version of this movie. They still make 3D Blu-Rays today, just not so much in the United States. I get a lot of my 3D Blu-Rays from the UK, Japan, France, Australia and China etc. Anyways, great channel, keep it going man!

I was crushed that the second spider-verse didn't receive a conversion. I learned from a friend who worked on the movie that he thought there would be a 3D version however it sounds like the production was a mess and they were tweaking it the night before release, so there was no time at all to do stereo.

@@kelownatechkid You're wrong on this one, I have a 3D Blu-ray of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and it's flawless. The whole menu is in Chinese, but that's what google translate is for. I use it also when ordering from a different country like China! The one I got is 100% genuine, not some hacked post conversion, it's just like the first one but better in the 3D effects, colors and sound! Keep looking.

If a director requests his old movie gets post converted to 3D works with say Studio D (or one of the other Post conversion studios that render these things) is it meant to be seen in 3D or not? Especially if it’s done well like Jurassic Park, Terminator 2 and Titanic. Even Wizard of Oz has a solid conversion though I would never make the meant to be seen argument for that one. I love many of the Marvel movies post 3D work especially Dr. Strange. Animated both CG and a few classic Disney Animations look real good in 3D. Man I wish Elemental made it to disc that was meant to be seen that way. Great movie regardless. I don’t care if it’s done in post or native if the movie and the 3D effects are good I’ll probably prefer that version.

In T2 the atom bomb dream scene looks more real and less like a bunch of models when I watch it in 3D. If this wasn’t just the theatrical cut I would easily make the meant to be seen argument especially over the 4K people seem to hate.

3d blu-ray for some reason did not work on my 1080p moniter as a tv for some reason i was trying watch transformers 5 3d and it gave me a blue screen that said it can not read it played the disc on my lg blu-ray player but it just was a blue screen that said can not play.
