Why I stopped buying new product from Iron Crown.

I have roleplayed for over 30 years, most of that time playing Rolemaster by ICE. I once bought ICE product without worrying about what I was buying. Then they started to sell revamped material as new, and I lost interest in new content.

Sad to hear, especially since ICE was a really good company back in the day. I remember I bought a copy of Character Law for myself (already had the others having started with MERP) and a RM boxed set for a friend and they called me at home a few days later to let me know Character Law was included in the box and would remove it if I made a mistake, refunding that portion of the charge. I got everything within 10 days of sending in my form and money order and this was back in the days of mail order so that was blinding speed back in those days. I haven't played RM in many years myself but this is the nature of the industry these days.

I was wondering about the different printings of the rules.

There is essentially 5 different editions each with subtle differences. If you know what you are looking for you can use most of the products together. But like combat the original charts went up to 150, the new charts go up to 175. SO it is harder to combine.

The new Core Law and Spell Law that just came out within the past year are quite good! I was a RM2/RMC guy and nothing was going to change that! But I played RMU and it’s just better than anything from the old ICE

I understand your frustration, but that was all your fault. The company put out Companions over the years, but the quality of those declined. Telling people to stop supporting the companies that make the games they love is a poor idea. You have out of print games that you can use...true, but new players need their own books. Some of us dislike pdfs. Rolemaster needs good writers with good story arcs.

Haha, that is 26 years ago! What a thing to complain about. RMSS/FRP was a huge step up in many ways and problematic in others like every new edition is. The company is now a hobby project by like 5 people, to be so sour is just laughable. Pete Fenlon and Coleman Charlton tried everything to save in the late 90‘s. Splitting Spell Law was great for players at the table (OSE does the same btw). ICE went down because they lost the ME license. Dumbest most childish take imaginable.😂😂👍

WOTC is a company, ICE is a hobby project of some dedicated fans. Portraying ICE as this evil corp is just idiotic. „Take the power back from those five unpaid dudes, who run Rolemaster in their spare time. Remember, you have the power“ 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
