I had become so convinced that I wouldn’t have to address this issue again on KZbin. I had hoped that with time it would stop, especially after such a prolonged period of time at a distance from the platform but unfortunately the subject has reared its ugly head again and I’d rather squash it permanently now. I’m sure you’ll be familiar with the concept of someone having a “victim complex”? The idea that someone permanently identifies themselves as ‘the victim’. This can pertain to many situations, often close to every situation in their life. And also, this IS NOT the same as someone being a genuine victim of some form or wrong or tragedy etc. It’s something that’s been openly discussed and explored. But something that is still not as widely discussed is when other people persist in trying to place the label of ‘the victim’ on someone else. An obvious example of this being reported (to help clarify if anyone doesn’t understand) would be where a child grows up with an illness only to be continuously treated like that same ill child well into their adulthood regardless of them being recovered or thriving. Found motivations for this vary in reports, some say that this is a power dynamic issue, others say it’s a personal comfort issue to be a caretaker of sorts. Needless to say this behaviour is just as dangerous as that of maintaining a personal victim complex. It can come across as manipulative, dehumanising and also cause someone to question their sense of self. Thinking “am I actually this helpless victim they’re making me out to be?” etc. Now that we all have some, admittedly very simplified and summarised, knowledge on the issue I’ll get to the point. One of the few things in my ‘cons’ column for deciding to create content here again was this issue of people persisting in trying to make me a victim in one way or another. To patronise and mollycoddle me like a poor delicate flower. A china doll that may shatter at any moment…and all for absolutely no reason at all! In the past it has reached points where I couldn’t even rant like a regular human being about being tired one day without getting the “oh you poor thing. Please do take care of yourself you’ve been through so much” and I’m over here like ‘Biiiiitch, it was warm last night so of course I didn’t sleep great like everyone else…what’s the issue’. Now I find myself in a position where something that was a HUGE positive in my life, breaking away from KZbin to begin and grow my own business to this level of success (which I never anticipated in just a year, I’m truly proud), is being warped into me “going through something” or that something must have happened to make me stop uploading for the year that I did… Despite posting multiple updates across all active social medias over the year about my business, despite posting when I decided to leave KZbin that it was to start focusing on my own business, despite discussing my own business when I first started it in previous KZbin videos, and despite stating in no uncertain terms that the reason I took a break was for work purposes. Literally the first question I answered. But all of that is brushed aside to focus on the fact I mention still having a stuffy nose and a sore throat which somehow grows arms and legs to mean that I’ve been battling some mystery illness in secret for the last year. Which honestly is offensive to those who are actually battling illnesses on a daily basis. It puts me in a position where I feel like I have to forfeit my right to have basic human experiences and have rants or make jokes like everyone else. I should be able to make jokes about my dry ass throat and clogged nose without it being made into something it’s not! So let me say now. And this is the final time I will address this on KZbin. I am in no way a victim. I am the only person who can identify myself in that way and I choose not to. I do not see myself as a victim in any way. I love reading a good greek tragedy, but please stop trying to turn my, quite frankly happy, life into one. ✌🏼

@@terenzo50 I appreciate the apology man, but please be careful when, even unintentionally, trying to place a ‘victim’ label on someone when there is no reason. It can be extremely damaging and nobody really has any right to identify another person in that way. I have a very happy life, I feel very fortunate to say that, and I won’t have something that was a hugely positive experience for me over the last year transformed into a negative.

1.) First Of All: On Friday of last week, I awoke to the sound of my Cell Phone receiving a Text Message from my friends, a Text Message that read: “Remember Kirstie Bryce? She’s Back To It, The KZbin!” My friends & I all watched this Video together, CC/Subtitles on (so my deaf friends, who have no idea whatsoever what your voice sounds like, nor will they ever have an opportunity to hear the sound of your voice could figure out what you’re saying)…My friends mentioned they weren’t sure what you meant when you said you were “Nowhere Michelle” as you were talking about being ill, so it was probably a “Captioning Inaccuracy” and you actually said something else, not “Nowhere Michelle”…My friends said, through their (Sign Language) Interpreter, that they’re proud of you being Self-Employed and say being in charge of one’s own Business/Company is a very commendable trait for anyone to possess and they also remind you to please “Support Deaf-Owned Businesses”…My friends also said that “Crisp Audio Usually Means Better Auto-Generated Captions” and also, with a chuckle and whilst inserting some “Deaf Humor,” said that any funny sounds or annoying noises in either of your Videos aren’t gonna bother them at all (because they’re deaf and, thus, wouldn’t be able to hear those noises anyways)…My friends also kidded/joked (via “Deaf Humor”) that they wouldn’t even notice whether your Voice sounds any different than normal, as they don’t even know what your Voice sounds like, as they’ve never had any opportunity to listen to the sound of your Voice, as they’re deaf…My friends also say that if you didn’t do LiveStream Videos anymore, they’d remain respectful of your decision, even though they do definitely miss “Reading”/Watching your LiveStream Videos (albeit, 2 or 3 days afterwards, as they always wait for the Auto-Captions to form), as I meanwhile just watch them all Live because I’m “Hearing” and am one of those people who can Watch or Listen to anything and usually understand perfectly without the use of any Subtitles (granted that it’s in English)…Whenever my friends & I watch KZbin Videos together, they always turn on the CC/Subtitles whilst I meanwhile ignore all that Scrolling Text along the bottom of the Screen but, instead, adjust the Volume to desirable levels via a Remote Controller my friends hand to me (realizing that I’m “Hearing” and am too lazy to read all that Scrolling Text when I can just listen & hear what the people in the Videos are saying)…It’s always interesting witnessing my friends give off appearances of reading from a screen (because, well, they are) or reacting to things people are saying in their Videos but using Sign Language (instead of Spoken English)…Anytime my friends wish to discuss sensitive, private/personal matters amongst one another whilst I’m in the room, they just communicate via ASL amongst one another and I’d never be able to figure out whatever they’re saying, even if I tried…My friends would also like to recommend you consider doing a Podcast but, whilst doing so, Upload every Podcast Episode into a Playlist within your KZbin Channel so, thereby making them accessible to the d/Deaf & Hard-Of-Community, as deaf people could “Access” the Spoken Information through KZbin’s Auto-Generated CC/Subtitles and consume the Podcasts by “Reading” the Auto-Generated Transcript (provided by KZbin)…By-The-Way: My friends & I “Read”/Watched some of your Instagram “Stories” where you used the Pop-Up Captions (via the new Auto-Captioning “Sticker”); specifically, it was your 2-Part talking Instagram “Story” featuring the peculiarly-shaped strawberries… :-) . 2.) “CODA” (2021 US Film): There’s something my friends have been wanting to ask/tell you for a very long time, but have been unable to, due to your absence…Aware that you love doing film reviews on your KZbin Channel but while also acknowledging that the 2021 US film they’ve been wanting to mention to you is not of the Horror genre, my friends are very proud of how the 2021 US film, “CODA” has won so many awards and is, overall, receiving so much recognition in the media these days…The word, “CODA” is actually an acronym that’s short for “Child Of Deaf Adults” and the reason why the d/Deaf & Hard-Of-Hearing Community is so proud of the 2021 US film, “CODA” receiving so much recognition is that the program features a high number of deaf actors/actresses in it who, like my friends, use Sign Language to communicate and, that said, the 2021 US film addresses the “Communication Barrier” between the “Hearing” world and the “Deaf” world…I confess to not knowing a single word in Sign Language, nor can my friends Lip-Read at all, so we often end up relying on Back-And-Forth E-Mailing & Texting to communicate with one another…In their Text Messages to me a few months ago, my friends mentioned that they’re curious whether you’ve ever heard of the 2021 US film, “CODA” and, if so, if you’ve ever considered watching it or whether you realize the historical relevance of “CODA” winning so many awards…With that, my friends have been meaning to tell you about the movie, “CODA” because my friends & I all know you’re quite the “Movie Buff” and although “CODA” is not Horror, Kirstie might find that the 2021 US film, “CODA” to be interesting…The significance of “CODA” winning so many awards is that it gains the Deaf Community some recognition in “Hollywood,” as a significant amount of the cast for “CODA” are deaf and use ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreters whilst communicating with the “Hearing” population…As you already know, most of my friends are deaf and can’t Hear, Speak, or Lipread (and they use ASL/American Sign Language to communicate) but I meanwhile don’t know a single word of Sign Language…My friends mentioned to me that the show, “CODA” solves the long-standing issue of “Hearing” people getting cast as deaf characters, as the deaf characters of the 2021 US film, “CODA” are cast by people who are actually deaf, which basically means that an issue that many deaf “Movie Buffs” have been aware of for a very long time was solved in the casting of “CODA”… . To Be Continued (Via A Reply To My Own Comment)…
@marksmithisonyoutub9362 жыл бұрын
Part 2 Of My Comment (Continued From Part 1)… . 3.) And As For Future Video Ideas: My friends & I are all mutually-agreed to the suggestion/recommendation of you filming more Movie/TV Series Reviews and/or, perhaps, Horror Movie Reviews…My deaf friends can relate to your Movie Review Videos & TV Series Review Videos more easily than to your Accent Videos, because they can read your CC/Subtitles like as though they’re reading literature and the ability to hear is not a requirement to enjoy good Movie/TV Reviews, whereas Videos about Accents are more of a “Hearing World” thing, as deaf people typically don’t notice Accents unless informed of them by “Hearing” people (who are, thus, able to actually hear the Accents)…For Instance: Because my friends are deaf and it’s been so many long years (decades, even) since those of my friends who weren’t born deaf last had a chance to hear the Scottish Accent, before having gone completely deaf (thereby making those friends’ memories of the Scottish Accent somewhat hazy), and those of my friends who were born deaf don’t even know what Voices & Voice Pitches sound like (let alone Accents), my friends can’t really relate with Accent Videos as well as I can (I’m “Hearing”); although, my friends always appreciate it greatly whenever people filming Accent Videos try and describe what a their Accent basically sounds like and explain how people who speak with their Accent pronounce certain words so, that way, even people who are deaf can still imagine what the Accent likely sounds like…And, just to Update you somewhat on Auto-Generated Closed-Captioning: Auto-Generated CC/Subtitles have been getting so Accurate these days that it tends to mask/hide Accents quite a bit now, and most deaf viewers would likely go on having no clue which of the people they watch might, in fact, possibly have an Accent, unless the people in the Videos explicitly mention their Accents and then their deaf Viewers read their Captions transcribing them mentioning their Accent…A person in a Video could have a very Strong/Thick Accent but never ever mention his/her Accent and then his/her deaf audience would likely have no idea that he/she even has an Accent at all…One day, I think my friends’ ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter said to me that one of them said, in response to a KZbinr mentioning their Accent, “Oh, I see, but I don’t even know what Speech & Voices sound like anyways, so if they have an Accent they have an Accent, but whether or not they have an Accent, it makes no difference to me, as Accents are Accents but I can’t hear them anyways”…So True…I chuckled at that remark made by one of my friends…After all, even if a deaf person had been made aware of someone’s Accent, they still wouldn’t be able to actually hear the Accent…I believe I recall you having mentioned to me in a Reply Comment a year or two ago that you somewhat appreciate how deafness conceals your Accent from the Deaf Population, as the 100% deafness completely diverts the focus/attention away from your Scottish Accent…And being the only “Hearing” person amongst my friends causes me to be the only person in my group of friends who notices your Accent…I have one friend who’s severely Hard-Of-Hearing and who wears very High-Powered Hearing-Aids (in both ears) and who speaks with a Very, Very Thick Lisp & “Deaf & Hard-Of-Hearing Accent”…Whenever one talks to her, she often makes concentration faces and is visibly listening very, very carefully and the speaker often needs to speak very distinctly and clearly and at a somewhat higher-than-normal Volume Level and be looking directly at her as they’re speaking to her…If the speaker has any Accent, understanding what the person is saying is painstakingly-difficult for her…She understands mild Accents perfectly fine but often struggles quite a bit with thicker Accents…For Instance: She’d likely understand a mild Irish Accent without difficulty but struggle significantly to understand a very thick, distinct Irish/Scottish Accent and give off a lot of puzzled faces & glances at the speaker and huge looks of concentration…which is one example of the several various reasons why my very Hard-Of-Hearing friend still benefits greatly from Closed-Captioning/Subtitles, even though she has some limited hearing with her very strong Hearing-Aids/both ears…

Welcome back!!! Of course I missed you and wondered why you had stopped and I was completely wrong. 100%! I watched the last video you did on Caroline Flack and thought you seemed distracted and unhappy. Especially when you stroked the lava lamp and looked uncertain about what to say next. Never seen you lost for words before. So. Completely sympathise about the huge effort need to start your own business. I went through it all myself and as soon as I was making really decent money the government changed the rules on the tax I was paying and made all the effort I had gone through completely worthless. Never liked Tories and they have given me all the more reason to hate them now. Back in permie land I am starting a side hustle and my niece said I should put my stuff on depop. I think she was surprised I even knew what depop was, but I ignored her just the same. I have just had a keek at your shop so why not if it costs me nowt?

Cheers mate! I was pretty transparent from the get going about why I’d stopped uploading so I’m a bit unsure where the confusion was for people and why some created their own reasons. I mean in that video I said the subject matter was very near and dear to myself and with that subject naturally there’s a level of care that needs to be taken in the words you choose so that’s why I may have appeared more deep in thought throughout, but I was most definitely not unhappy. That’s quite a bold statement to make. Awk the world of work has so many challenges no matter how it’s structured these days so we’re all just doing our best and doing our bit 👌🏼
