Just a note from some of you who are reading too far into this video (or those didn't watch the whole thing). I'm not saying I dislike, am stopping, or taking back any of the benefits I've outlined on this channel about sliding bench training. I'm simply discussing a topic which many of you already experience, that when you start accumulating other useful tools for your goals (especially in a small space), a Total Gym can get used less. I also will not be stopping my TG content, just that some weeks may have more or less. Odds are you probably won't notice a difference and the amount of content will still surpass even Total Gym's channel (absolutely no offense to them). But I do have a never ending list of TG content I've yet to even tap. I know I got a wide variety of subscribers and content you all wish to see, so it's hard to please everyone. I do appreciate all of you and always grateful for your support on the channel.

Where it shines is a full body fast paced workout. It's a real swiss army knife. If I had as many great things as you it would get used less. The money exercises on TG are pull up, dip, vertical press, chest fly, pull over, leg press, and hamstring curls. Those are my main use cases. I like using the cyclo trainer stick a pillow behind my head and relax with some video games or youtube video after work. If you have the room to not put it away you will use it more that may not be an option for most. Just human nature the easier something is to get to the more likely we are to use it

I think we can all agree the variety is good in the long run because over YEARS you would get bored and probably not as challenged, using the same machine and doing the same routine. From your reviews I've purchased both the X3 and Bullworker items and like you I am finding myself using the TG less. Still love it, though and can't see myself getting rid of it. Thanks as always andrew. I wouldn’t really question anything, just a matter of finding what works for you and keeping things interesting. Appreciate your honest opinion. What's best for a person is dependent on his/her needs and circumstances. I bought one of the first Total Gyms in the early 1980's. Sturdy but clunky beast. I ended up selling it after a year or so because I thought I needed something that offered more resistance. In the years since I have aged and not always gracefully. Heavy lifting and free weights are out as they cause inflammation in my joints. I bought a Weider Ultimate Body Works a couple of years ago and finds it to be more than adequate for my resistance training needs at this point. It offers a sufficient variety and resistance levels for muscle toning for the whole body. This is my go-to resistance exercise regime now. If I need more stimulus I could go to the gym in the condo and use the cable machines and dumbbells, but I find it more convenient to just use the sliding bench I have at home.

What do you think about doing partials with resistance bands? For example you are stressing out your muscle with full reps on an excercise and then try to hit as many partials. Or you start with partials with an heavy resistance and then complete it with a lighter resistance do be able to do full range. And to really stress out to muscle even more, you do a drop set after. I will test these types out and courious of what you think about it.

I personally have not had that. There's a lot of variables for treatment / causes for those conditions, but for me with just general overuse injuries, what works best is to stop doing the activity that's aggravating it. @hybridresistance Жыл бұрын
It was really the bar that made the difference especially that it had hooks on the end. In the past when I would use bands I always have to anchor them to some thing and just found that somewhat cumbersome. I also have used bars in the past but there’s something about the dimensions with this and the fact you can attach the loop bands on with ease. I also never used a platform like bands either.
@vinnylivoti9567
@vinnylivoti9567 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike: The X3 and bands in general do not have an even resistance curve like free weights, Total Gym or any of the suspension trainers. I myself have never been a fan of bands for this reason. They do have their place in fitness and rehab though.. If space is an issue. With the big price increases of all the Total Gyms ( I had 2 Total Gyms over the years and they worked great I live in a small house and they still take up a good amount of space if you don’t fold them up). I would buy the poor man’s Total Gym the NOSSK CYCLONE Pulley Bodyweight Trainer. Better than a TRX and a 3rd of the price $40.00. With the pulley you can do most of what you would could do on the Total Gym. The rest can be supplemented with cladistics and maybe one or more of the Bullworker products. Takes no room up and the cost would be very low. Just my 2 cents.
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Vinny for adding your comments and experience. I do think that even with minimal equipment with that nossk suspension trainer you can get great results if you stick with it and use it properly. A big thing for me personally is how a given device or exercise feels. The force curve is for sure unique on an x3 but the stimulus and results I saw while using it were what really hooked me. But certainly I will choose exercises just because of convienence or how I feel that day.

If I had a big space to do my home workouts, I would definitely have a lot more equipment than I do now. In my current situation, the TG plus a few extras suits my needs just fine. My wife and I plan on moving in a few years after our daughter graduates high school. One requirement I have for our next house is a dedicated workout area. As much as I love the TG, it is time consuming constantly adjusting the machine and adding/remove weights or attachments. So, while it works for me now, I'm sure my home gym will look a lot different in my next house. Even just being able to leave multiple TGs out all the time would speed up my workouts a lot.

It just goes to show that you need variety when exercising. There are many limitations using a sliding bench trainer like a Total Gym, GR8FLEX or a Weider or ProForm Ultimate Bodyworks and after watching a number of your videos I came to the conclusion that buying a more expensive sliding bench trainer isn’t necessary if you are going to perform movements that can be replicated with weights, bands or plate loaded machines. As long as you have something that adds variety to a workout is all one needs to accomplish their weight training goal. With that said I’m sure will find a number of your supporters shocked at what you said but it’s the truth, that one machine or product will NEVER be the only product you need to do your workouts exclusively on. It was through your channel I decided to buy the ProForm Ultimate Bodyworks and I’m glad I did. Since then I know what the machine is capable of and with a few hacks I can add weight plates for added resistance as well as short resistance bands (13inches) that I loop around the lower catch bracket of the sliding bench for additional resistance. Continue featuring more gym products on your platform as this will inform your subscribers of what’s out there to consider acquiring.

@@hybridresistanceThis is my 2nd favorite quote of his; "It's the camel's nose in the tent. Look at Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Idi Amin - every one of these monsters, on seizing power, their first act was to confiscate all firearms in private hands."

*Thank you!!! For your incredible videos on the Total Gym* I purchased one and workout because of you and your incredible motivated video so thank you so much! You're so honest and informative and motivating that you are an incredible teacher on all levels the only thing I disagree with you with is your Christian cross around your neck and I grew up Christian what was top Christian until I was forty-five years old and finally read all the verses in the Bible and is able to see there was over 1,000 contradictions and the book is full of bigotry and hate speech and promote slavery and Stony gay people and not one versus with my woman many more horrible things to put remotes and I do not believe that comes from God but rather the devil and evil in misled men that were following the dark Twisted Spirit and the devil divides and so does religion and especially Christianity with over 35,000 different Christian denominations worldwide so long that can't even agree upon you the Bible because they're so on most of them and it's just a sad sad religion

Thank you for the positive comments and candidly expressing your views. I have certainly heard similar criticisms, but I would respectfully disagree. Obviously religion can be a divisive discussion, but I’d certainly be open to talking to you via email if you like. I do think we can agree that God in essence is love and we are called love others as we would ourselves. With love and respect my friend.

I think its a great decision to get rid of your TG. You would be much happier if you used your GR8FLEX instead. LOL. You're the reason i bought my GR8FLEX and now your moving on. Are you going to change the name of your channel to " the x3 guy " perhaps???

Let's not get crazy brother, never could be without a TG or GF for that matter. Funny you mention GR8FLEX because I was talking to those guys and plan on having some future videos on them in the future. X3 or Band, Boards, and Bands are awesome though.

Love my TG ! After watching your videos I was able to pick two XLs for less than $250 on Facebook.They were practically brand new. I’ll switch from TG to mace and steel clubs and free weights or a combination. I won’t give up my TG which to me is the best functional trainer out there. Keep up the great videos and much success in your endeavors.
