I mean, there's "affordable" options for everything but honestly make-up lasts an eternity. If make-up is something you genuinely enjoy using instead of collecting the latest releases, then I don't see an issue.

For me personally, 2020 lockdowns and not needing to wear makeup everyday really stuck with me because prior to that I would wear makeup every single day and now, I only wear it for Zoom meetings and if I’m going somewhere. Definitely not buying it as much as I used to either.

We’re in a “less is more” era of makeup right now where as in the 2010’s, the more you had- the better. Lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, several shades of high coverage foundations, everything. You needed more than what you knew what to do with. Collecting makeup was a genuine thing everyone wanted and did. Which is great that we’re not wasting as much I feel lol but it was so fun and I do miss all of that. The excitement of the latest launches and how more creative brands were back in the day.

BTW if anyone wants to know- Pressed powders essentially never go bad. the 24mo expiration is because the companies don't do official tests after that because it's still good. I know some lose some pigment, but I found an unused blush from the 80's and it worked great!

Worked in perfume here! As long as fragrance is stored properly, yes it can last for a long long time!! Over 20+ years! Erin Parsons buys vintage fragrances with the original formulas. Some do smell better with age as the oils are sitting longer and it really makes it strong and lovely!!

Before the pandemic, I wore makeup every weekday. I loved putting it on every morning, reading about new releases and collections, and feeling so special when wearing something very new and avant garde. Pandemic arrived. I started working from home. Hanacure was still big, and Korean skin care became my hobby. For almost-two years, I wore no makeup. Slowly, life became more normal, although not yet how I lived pre-pandemic. Putting on full makeup felt heavy, and I seemed to look over-made-up when wearing the same type products I’d worn for years. I wear makeup again, but far less and far-less often. For me, once I got really comfortable with my natural face without makeup, I kinda love it. I now wear a little concealer, eyebrows, Miracle Balm (Bobbi Brown,) mascara and lipstick or lip gloss. I love this look on me, and I’ve seen so many others feeling confident and looking beautiful with a much-more natural look. Just my thoughts. Love ya, Bunny. ❤

Yep I stopped wearing makeup because I work in a hospital and wearing it under my mask felt so pointless to me when it would just transfer into my mask. Then I went on accutane and couldn't wear it anymore because my skin was so dry, and now I'm just 100% out of the habit!

For sure, but also masks were a blessing in a way 😅 I get acne from my PCOS, usually around the areas a mask would cover. I still wear a mask when I have acne and have to go out. This way I don't have to worry about making things worse by putting makeup on the acne just to cover it up. 🙃

I can't even make myself put makeup on anymore. It's just another step that takes up minutes that I could use elsewhere. Same for hair. Just slap that stuff in a ponytail and run. But do I buy makeup to add to the collection, yep as long as it's interesting. Maybe you should do another line of makeup?

I used to do eyeshadow for work every day and on the weekends i would do full on makeup even if all i was doing was running to the mall. Then of course we all got stuck in quarantine and I started working from home with no need to be on webcam. So why do anything when I'm indoors all the time? And even now, I don't really go out as much as i used to and i feel so bad I've got so much old foundation wasting away. Now it just liner and brows to run out and maybe eyeshadow if I'm feeling spicy

Memories indeed. A few companies still bring excitement. Color Pop, Two Faced, Sugarpill, Melt Cosmetics and ViseArt which is the silkiest shadow I’ve ever found. Been using for 60 years now. Started at 11. Hahaha. Agree MAC used to be a huge event. ❤ this video. Gave me lots of memories. 😊

I totally agree with you about perfume! I have had several that I received as gifts that I didn't like. Went back a few years later and loved the smell. I didn't know if it was the perfume aging or the effects of having had COVID 😂.

Lipstick. The too faced pop tarts palettes are at Ulta, at least online anyway. I was able to see all the swatches and I loved the first golden highlighter and the mac lipstick. 💚💚

Omg I feel this video so much! I haven’t been as excited about makeup in so long and I was actually contemplating this just the other day 😅 I think there will always been a space for makeup and beauty to be enjoyed but it’s not the same today as it was between 2010 and 2018-ish or at least that’s when I was super into it. It’s so pretty but I look at the price and just can’t justify it for how rarely I wear it now. I also just couldn’t be bothered. I love investing in decent, second hand clothing pieces though. At least they get the attention they deserve.

I feel like the make up industry has expanded and a lot of good products are really expensive. Also feel like it has to do with age (and what you think is important at that age) . I am 28 and I use make up almost every day, but I'm not that excited about it anymore :)

There are definitely still some brands that kill it with their packaging, like P. Louise. Their stuff is so cute, a lot of the palettes have full size mirrors and drawers and even lights! Their monthly budget box is really fun, even to get just once

Perfume definitely can go off, but if you store it in a cool, dry, dark place (I keep mine in a black, heavy duty storage tub!), it can keep for years and years. Heat and UV light are the enemies of perfume, but with care, yeah, you can keep it for decades (I have perfume that I bought in the Noughties that is still true to original form). The same is true with nail polish, by the way. Keep the lids tight, store in a dark, cool place, and you can keep and use nail polish for decades (my oldest bottle is from the Nineties).

Packaging is more environmentally produced and companies haven't figured out how to make that exciting yet. And people burned out on makeup. Maybe we got used to it getting screwed up by a mask or not wearing it at home and we just can't bother because we got used to having clean faces.

I love makeup. do I use it every day? No way! It's kinda uncomfortable! (I just have to wear lipstick, that thing I do love! Keeping lips hydrated and it stops me from biting my lips with colour as a plus!) I use it for concerts (bands I love and my own band) and some special events.

I agree with you Bunny. The makeup bubble exploded a while ago, thanks also the advent of antihauls. Us consumers got tired of being into a FOMO and started realizing we were buying the same thing over and over again. I had a dozen of perfumes and now I feel 4 is more than enough. I hoarded 130 lip products back in that day and a dozen of palettes until I realized I prefer single eyeshadows so I can pan one and get a replcement instead of purchasing an entire new palette. If I want a cute palette I personalize my magnetic empty palette with stickers and I'm good. I Personally I still have to be careful or I keep buying the same red lipstick in different packaging and different quality when I should just buy a backup of that single one of the brand I know works perfectly. Yet I still managed to have more than 66 lip products in my box because I lik variety in my lip colors. :) But I got tired also because the price of makeup keeps inflating and it was pretty high already back in 2016. It's colored dust come on!!!!

I started watching you before I had kiddos and now those kiddos are almost 7 and almost 5 and I am only recently getting back into every day makeup, because I miss it. I mostly have fun with different lip colors now because I have a handful of statement glasses and you can’t really see the eye looks. It’s a journey. I’m also getting pickier with things in general and pairing down. Both my husband and I are shocked my makeup fits in a single drawer, I used to need 6!

Alot of perfumes will stay fresh forever! My holy Grail is called tribe by Coty it was discontinued in the 90s it was my signature scent in middle school. I still have bottles of it and I have found bottles of it on eBay and I still wear it to this day it is very hard to find an expensive but it’s worth it!! certain perfumes Bring me instant nostalgia when I smell them I have an obsession with perfume I have well over 1000 bottles and I do wear a lot of them and a lot of them are very old!!

I used to be excited not just for collections, although there was that -- but to also just Do my makeup. I don't know... I feel like I don't have the time or maybe just the energy these days... So many "influencers" just put on so much makeup and pressure for perfection too, that it just burnt me out I think. I do miss being excited to Do my makeup, and feeling a whole other level of beautiful when I'm done. Like I feel nice without too, but With makeup... I feel like over time, I got so overwhelemed and saturated with the amount of palettes and everything. I stopped wearing makeup except for an eyebrow gel and blush. I will use a lipgloss, or a tinted lip balm, but that's pretty much it. I guess we all find out at some point what works for us and stick to it. And that is ok. I do miss TAGs, though!

honestly there's not much exhiting makeup around other than the multichrome shadows from indie brands. But unfortunately it's really hard to get your hands on them either because the shipping costs double the purchase and/or cost too much to spend on makeup for me.

I have never worn makeup on the daily, but I have always been entranced by lip products and eyeshadows. Since covid happened and I couldn't wear a lip product without it getting all over, I've stopped wearing any makeup, and when I try to put on lipstick now it's instantly like, "oh why does my face look like that!" It feels wrong 😂. Even still, I'm so tempted by the lip products and eye shadows!!!!

I threw a TON of 10-12 year old expensive perfumes away not long ago because most of them smelled "off", somehow dusty and tired. I had them stored perfectly in a dark place the entire time, but it didn't help. I could have sold them online but I really didn't want to cheat anyone. Fresh perfumes smell much, much better to me.

If you have clean hands and apply with clean brushes there really shouldn’t be bacteria. Most makeup has preservatives that keep bacteria and mold from growing too!

Maybe the green wet look is mermaid collection siren? I also don’t wear makeup like I did pre Covid. I’m getting older and my skin is different . The lines are more noticeable and the elasticity is less. I wear moisturizer every day twice a day for years. I hate too but need to find a foundation that doesn’t add to my lines. It’s costly to keep trying makeup that doesn’t preform as promised. I’ll never wear as much as I did, but would like a little to just look a little more nice. Anyone else need makeup that works for mature skin?

I've gone so many years without makeup that now I can't stand the feel of even the lightest ones. For special occasions I only use lipstain and some eyeshadow.
