Why I Switched From Polaris to Skidoo...

I want to talk more in-depth about the reasoning behind switching from Polaris Snowmobiles to Skidoo Snowmobiles this season. It is going to be quite an adjustment going from riding a 2019 Pro Rmk 850 155" to a 2022 Summit 850 154". I'm excited to take this new journey riding a Skidoo this season. Can't wait to share my experience through the channel.

The linq system is awsome. Suspension is awsome. Each sled has good and bad points . I ride a skidoo 900 t with a 205 tune. Love it.

After the stop sales and stop rides I’ve experienced over the last few years, I’m about to sell all my Polaris stuff and go BRP. Got another stop ride recall on my new RZR last night, nothing like having a n expensive paperweight in the barn.

I'll be curious to hear your reactions. I dunno why everyone is so fascinated with wheelies on a mountain sled though. I'd rather keep my skis down and keep climbing but that's just me..

It must be a flat lander thing. No hills to climb or good snow to ride so all that’s left to do is wheelies 😂 I just want the sled to go where I point it and not surprise me when I’m trying to get through a gap with a ton of momentum.

Asking for a friend, even if you ordered a 2023 skidoo spring order last year aren’t those not going to be delivered on time either? Supply chain issues aren’t only affecting Polaris from delivering on time. Seadoo couldn’t deliver jet skis to the customers on time this year. They came in at the end of the summer for anyone that ordered a 22 seadoo this year. So it’s not a Polaris problem. It’s all brands!!! Plus all of BRP so skidoo and seadoo etc had a huge cyber attack in august. Website, ordering, parts, service diagnostics everything was frozen for a month!!!

Sucks to own a ski doo now! Nothing but trouble in Alaska, plus all the xtra BS to go with it, been waiting on parts since last season, my buddy’s 9r, he gets parts within a week from Polaris! Can’t forget the warranty issues with ski doo, atleast Polaris owns up to warranty! And they get there warranty fixed within 2-4 weeks, couple Buddy’s went from ski doo to Polaris because of the all season wait!

I ordered a boost. Ship date is currently Dec 23 to Jan 6. Disappointing to hear but I haven’t sold my ‘18 summit yet so I guess I’m lucky, and my dealer said if it is delivered after December they will give me the option of having my snowcheck deposit back and I will be able to drop the sled. Personally I’m a life long skidoo guy and after my dealers service went to hell and my ‘18 goes through a belt every 2 rides I figured I would give Polaris a chance, but looks like they blew it already for me. But then where else do I go? Arctic cat isn’t a real competitor anymore and skidoo is late too so I might end up taking it anyway if it gets here in January. Just a crappy situation all around.

That’s funny you think cat isn’t a real competitor, sorry I rode a 19-20 summit and I’m sorry but the summit felt like a absolute boat, still has problems with the steering freezing up if not able to park in a heated space, the small cluster is a absolute joke and ya the new ones look cool but have fun trying to keep the flat dashed cluster clear of snow and same clutches and rails as a rev chassis! Even my buddy rode my 22 alpha 146 and flat out said if he hadn’t just bought his 154 summit he would’ve bought a 146 alpha!! And the new adapt clutch works awesome! And who ever says cats are wide sorry the doo’s even the new ones still feels like your sitting on a boat

@@codyarnold5672 it’s funny you think an 800 is a competitor to a turbo 850. Between my buddies and I we have over 10k miles on our 850’s none of them see heat and they have no issues other than mine eats belts. If you have the full skid plate I’ve seen older ones gather ice so that might be your issue, mine doesn’t do that with the smaller skid plate though. The primary clutch was all new for 2017 so not sure what your on about there, and being an arctic cat guy I’m not surprised your stuck on rail designs. Every cat guy I’ve ridden with or talked to wants the double rails back. As for boaty handling… wait until you grow up a little, I used to think everything was boaty when I was 12 too 😂

Unfortunate situation for sure. Luckily your dealer seems to be doing there best to help you out. I think you’ll love a Polaris if you try it. Personally if I were you I would still take the boost and see what you think. Best of luck let me know how things end up going for you!

You're going to like skidoo but only thing I didn't don't like about Ski-Doo is the wider tunnel I am a Polaris dude I always like Polaris somehow I'm a Polaris madman. but power on skidoo motors is insane sometimes reason I never likes Ski-Doo is they're wider tunnel it was always rubbing on my ankles when you stand on it but doesn't mean all snowmobiles are not bad just different writing style of riding I a fan I love riding snowmobile just have fun this year man name my Ezra Eidenschink

You will absolutely love it. You lean back punch that throttle and you will dab near flip it over backwards. You’re gonna have problems keeping snow flaps on that thing. I’m a cat guy personally but I’ve had four different summits from 2011 up and all of them were the same. Willie for days. And the fuel mileage is absolutely amazing. For example my wife drives a Polaris rush 600.. And my summit was better on fuel and I drove it way harder. And hardly any oil gets used. If you don’t like it I think you need to go see a doctor lol. 😂 jk

That's interesting you mentioned fuel mileage because Muskoka Freerider's Boost and Freeride Turbo were almost identical in fuel and oil consumption all year. Ski Doo went through belts quicker though that's for sure.

It’s just luck of the draw for ski doo and Polaris. I picked up my 23 khaos 2 months ago and I’ve seen people complaining about their ski doo snowcheck already being pushed to the end of January 2023. Seems random.

That’s awesome that your sleds seem to be on time! I think the recall with Polaris has a lot to do with the later delivery dates this year unfortunately

I do agree with the recall being the issue, even when the new sleds show up, their techs will be so over booked all season fixing all the sleds that got the recall.

Polaris is to Busy with all the Decal kits, Configuration options.. They Need to Stream line the Production line. Also Bring the Price down. Inflation is killing our industry. Asking the top 10% of the middle class to support the industry with over paying is going to kill the sled industry like it did in the 1970's. n 80's. A Sled is not worth more then 14 000 esp a two stroke that gets 9 to 10 mpg. Hell My buddies with 3500 GMC's and Ford Diesel's are selling them. People are cutting back Especially with the life altering inflation rate But if the price of a sled was reduced. More people would be buying new again and that would = More profits.

The last decent polaris snowmobile was the indy 440 had 3 of them 88 90 and 91 polaris is a lot like chrysler vehicles they sell on price not quality after a couple years start having break downs and need parts that months to receive... have a ski doo safari 368 from 1989 I bet that sled has over 20000 miles on it never been rebuilt and still runs mint and many other older ski doo models that are far superior to anything polaris makes or has in the last 20 or so years

Yup. It’s just the Chevy vs ford thing really… both are great machines. Both will break , both will suit certain riders better. I’m a true blue Polaris guy. I love that fact that other brands are what keep each brand evolving though. I will hand it to ski doo for always pushing the envolpe. In my opinion ski doo keeps Polaris on their toes. To bad manufacturers aren’t as loyal to their customers and their Costomers are to their manufacturers

Trust me... you will be looking forward to getting back in polaris after you try ski doo. ... every year my family's company would buy each brand (either one or two of each) and then put up to 10 thousand dollars of aftermarket parts on each... half of them leave OEM basically. Maybe some new skis or a can. So I can tell you, Polaris right now is the best. However this year's ski doo is now doing some things that made polaris great.... so the 2023's I imagine will be interesting. And the shot start is nice, but whatever. You'll find the ski doo just wants to lift... and not wheelie lift like the Khaos Boost ... but it lifts like a boat in the water when you're taking off before it gets on plane, or level after you move faster. ... it just sucks, when you're the one getting stuck easier or having to just ride differently and not able to do as much as rest of group of polaris sleds. Also ski doo doesn't hold side hill.... also they're heavier. Also the steering is not a straight post... it's ok when you're used to it, but it's going to be very different for u, and may hate it as some doo when switching brands. I don't mind it, but it's not a nice as polaris, unless you're sitting down and more of an intermediate rider, but when u get into steep, you're steering is just in your hip and body more, cause if angle, more than polaris.
