GR III is just the best camera for travelling and if you don't want to carry around large bodys with big lenses. I am using a GR IIIx now and will get a GR III as well for my next city trips. It is just perfect for this!

Yes for sure! I’m travelling in China at the moment with both the X100VI and the GR3. Both have their pros and cons. Would never sell the GR3 though! Thanks for watching! 😊🙏

I've gotten into the GR with the GRII. When the GRIIIx came out, I immediately bought one. Later I added a regular GRIII. I just love what Ricoh has done with these!

I was so tempted to buy the griiix but ended up getting an OM-1 digital instead. Had to sell a few lenses to afford it though! Would love to try the griiix one day.
@thedarkslide

@@MattLovesCameras The OM-1 is soooo overpriced for what it is. I've been using Olympus since the E-520, through the E-5, the E-M5, the E-M1 and still the E-M1III. I am still owning and using the E-M1III and a TON of lenses and other Olympus MFT bodies. But the OM-1 never attracted me with its value proposition and price - and now that the MUCH better G9II is out with a MUCH cheaper price, I have no clue how OM System is going to sell the OM-1 anymore. They need to drop the price by at least USD500 to regain competitiveness with that camera. The GRIII and GRIIIx are pretty great. The only real issue I have with both is overheating on hot, sunny days. A GRIII cannot be your only camera to bring during summer unfortunately.

Although I've been an Olympus/Lumix m43 nut for over 10 years, a couple of years I got hold of a GRD4 just really because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So impressed I have been with this tiny camera that I then purchased a GR3 and now I can't put the thing down. Addictive, isn't it?!

Yes, sure is, such fun little cameras. I recently bought on OM-1 digital so look out for videos about that soon! 12 months ago I couldn't see myself buying either Ricoh or OM!

I have neither a GRIII nor an X100V. If Ricoh made a version with a built in viewfinder, I would be all over it though. With plenty of cameras with no viewfinder in my collection, I don't know why that matters for me, when it comes to the GRIII, but it does. But, I have found a match for myself in the MFT camera environment, so realistically, I'm gonna stick with the options I have found there and build on that. I couldn't imagine living in a place where the leaves didn't change colors during Autumn - in fact with the first cold nights finally here, the colors have started to change outside, and my cameras will get a nice workout in the coming weeks documenting the Autumn colors.

The special limited edition kit with the finger strap / canvas case / custom hot shoe cover was limited to 2000 units worldwide. They were so popular they now have released it but without those inclusions 😊

Had 2 of GR series, GREAT cameras, but each time had issues with sensor dust after about 3 months of regular use, so it's a no-go for me until they find a way to seal that lens.

Thanks for the nice very informative overview. Right, images look great but as others noted for a travel camera why no GPS, no excuse for that price. Or use the route Olympus took by using GPS from the smartphone and merge later with the pics taken (maybe i should mention that i often forget to turn the app on). And no viewfinder is a bummer for me. Loved the earlier Olympus pen with adding. EVF. For $1000 I think one could have added this for many photographers crucial features. and yes i also will take out my older oly e-pl3 - very pocketable too :) - i just took it out and realize one can feel the weight. i think for a pocket camera each gram matters. bu ti also have an older RDC7 or the ricoh Caplio R6 oh and not to forget the Nikon coolpix 300 with GPS :). bottom line is i guess nothing easily beats a fixed lens camera.

Thanks so much for watching and for the detailed comment 😊 I must admit I’ve never used it or thought much about GPS before, but it’s a great point and illustrates how we all use our cameras differently. I sometimes wonder where I took a photo so it would be helpful! The camera is 4.5 years now so hopefully Ricoh make the next version even better.

it is even more amazing when i look at my old coolpix aw100. it has the GPS, a magnetic compass which also shows you the direction the picture was taken and it has a built-in world map that even guided my during a business trip in japan. sadly this map does not get updates like google maps but it is still fantastic. this things should be default features for any camera today

Uh oh. I think my wallet is already bracing itself for the release of any new Ricoh film cameras. As a kid, my mum bought me a nice Ricoh compact camera (AF-9 ?) in the early 1980’s, so Ricoh as a brand has alot of sentimental value for me. I think I stupidly tossed this camera after the film door light-sealing foam crumbled with age. I currently own an older digital Ricoh GR from 2013, which I love for it’s pocket-ability and sharp 28mm-equivalent lens.

Colours are better. Fuji X100V has a weird brown thing going on. I'd get a GRiii except it doesn't have a viewfinder, and it's APS-C.

Yes for sure! Portability + good image quality. Why do you like GPS? So you can catalogue where your images were taken?
@Kaufeetimevideo
@Kaufeetimevideo 10 ай бұрын
Yes, it's part of cataloging. Often, I take a pic. of an object/building not knowing the name. Maybe I forgot the name of the town... on my computer, i can find the location on google Maps. To clear the confusion, for several years, I traveled extensively 2-4 towns a week. Rarely the same town twice.

I can't help but shake my head at those folks who keep hopping from one brand to another. The X100 is an extraordinary camera with a 35mm field of view, complete with built-in ND filter and leave shutter. It's compact yet versatile enough to serve as a go-to camera even for professionals.

Sergey mate what are you on about. You can make genuine criticisms about comsumerist KZbinrs, but the gr iii literally HAS a built in nd, the possibility for a 40mm lens with the gri iii x AND a leaf shutter
@sergeyusik9934
@sergeyusik9934 9 ай бұрын
@@oversharingturtle4462 I don't wish to be impolite or affront anyone, but personally, the size of the X100, which, quite literally, doesn't snugly fit into a standard pocket, doesn't quite warrant or rationalize trading it in with all its accessories and dishing out another £1,000 for a more compact Ricoh GR. While certain factors, such as lens performance, the 35mm field of view not being your cup of tea, or somewhat leisurely autofocus, could potentially substantiate such a switch, the size itself? Quite out of the question.
@sergeyusik9934
@sergeyusik9934 9 ай бұрын
@@oversharingturtle4462 I've observed numerous photographers in the past who purchased the X100 primarily for its size and distinct retro aesthetic. Strangely enough, these are the very individuals who are now transitioning to the Ricoh GR, driven by its more compact dimensions. Quite intriguing, isn't it?
@MattLovesCameras
@MattLovesCameras 9 ай бұрын
Just for some background info, I sold the X100 years ago as I felt the autofocus wasn't great for taking photos of my kids who were very young at the time. The X100T I bought cheap brand new then flipped, which funded a brand new F. It's a long story why I sold the F and bought the V. I wish I'd kept the original X100, though for some of what I do, including stock photography, 12mp isn't ideal. Great colours though from that sensor. Thankfully the GR III is more in the 800 GBP price bracket here in Australia :) @@sergeyusik9934
