I was so distracted by the absurd amount of saturation from the Ricoh, that I forgot to check out the differences in focal length. Standard mode on both would have been better in my opinion.

For me I prefer the contrasty & punchy GR III images but they are almost too contrasty. With post processing, I'm sure would be possible to get similar results out of the X100VI. The size of the GR III is also more appealing to me. I hope I will like the focal length of the GR IIIx, which I'm going for because I like the Pentax FA 43 Ltd on the K-1 (often on my camera) and the GR IIIx is only slightly wider than that.
@MattLovesCameras5 күн бұрын
Nice! I really like the GRIIIX but I gotta admit the focal length took some getting used to after the GRIII. Some images do look a little bit too contrasty, I think it depends on the subject matter too. Thanks for watching Jono! ☺️🙏
@kiwijonowilson7 күн бұрын
They almost look like abstract paintings LOL! I like the size and look of it though. Even if they had made the lens a wider angle it would have been better (the longer focal length acerbates the problems). I also like silly little cameras. A while back my daughter gave me one that was even smaller than yours (no VF, a single button and still shots only) but the image quality was lower resolution and even worse than yours! It was just a bit too bad for real use. We had some fun and laughs though.
@MattLovesCameras5 күн бұрын

Nice photos Matt! HDF is an interesting look but I can't say I'm willing to pay a premium for the HDF and don't like the idea of losing the ND filter as I'm expecting I will use that (moving water, shallow depth shots). I have ordered a GRIIIx Urban Edition for Christmas (hope it turns up in time!) and can't wait to get it. I started my photography hobby nearly 50 years ago with film (showing my age now!) and in more recent times using Pentax (K-1 & K-01). The K-01 has been quite good for travel (paired with DA Ltd lenses) but love the idea of a more compact, light & discrete camera! Do you ever miss the ND filter?
@MattLovesCameras7 күн бұрын
Thanks Jono! Yeah it's an interesting effect, I haven't used it that much, but I guess I haven't missed the ND filter much either as I tend to do more travel / street stuff with the GRIII and do anything with slower shutted speeds with my OM-1 when travelling (digital OM-1 I hasten to add! It has inbuilt ND filters). I've been at the photography thing for 30 years ha ha, lots of fun, and always good to have something you're passionate about in life. Thanks for watching!

I wanted to love the Ricoh but the results of your Fuji have a magic in every shot that would make it my preferred choice regardless of the Ricoh’s superior pocketablity and discrete profile.

The white spot is known as a "Fern" per Polaroid themselves. And it does tend to come from a pressure point on the film (can even be the result of how the film was shipped), it can come from even a slight bend as you think you're pulling it out perfectly flat. You don't have to literally put your thumb on it and press. I had an entire pack have this issue and spoke to Polaroid who explained it in detail, and even replaced the pack of film for me. They're wonderful about helping with things like this 🙂

So, you discovered champ camera. Nice 👍🏻 I do not always buy film there, because it’s regularly quite expensive, but they do have bargains from time to time. This weekend Kodak Color Plus 200 for ¥1.280 for example. That’s a steal. 😉 Another recommendation would be Kitamura in Shinjuku. Great source for used lenses. They do have literally thousands of them. Two weeks ago, I got a beautiful 28-105mm EOS lens for ¥3.000 there and a nifty fifty ( 50mm/1.8 ) for ¥8.000. They do have really everything imaginable on several floors. Definitely a paradise for every film camera lover.

Little late maybe, but how does did exactly work with pushing film? I do understand you develop it with pushing it 2 stops. But is the lighting normal, as you normally would lighten the photo? Because most of the photos do not look overexposed.
@MattLovesCameras2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! So with my cameras I fool them into thinking the film is iso 1600, either through a dx code sticker or via the iso control in-camera. It then shoots the roll as if it was 1600 speed. Doing this means the film is underexposed, but pushing it 2 stops compensates. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions ☺️🙏

Please. Something like a Contax T3, as well as the other Contax T-series cameras, are like ticking time bombs. At _any_ moment they can die. And since there are no more electronic parts available any longer they can only occasionally be 'repaired' by replacing parts from a donor camera. Extremely high-risk to buy something like a T2 or T3 at those crazy high prices, unless you're a billionaire like Kendall Jenner. ha Besides, pretty much any inexpensive film SLR with a OEM lens can take the same or more often than not _better_ photos at a much lower price. 35mm film and gear just isn't all that high resolution compared to modern digital so it's much more forgiving. No need to spend thousands on 35mm film equipment to get good/great results.
