Thank U for your kind words.. I suspect U are also similarly a detailed person like me. My weakness is that I have a need to know how something is engineered to function because good product quality, performance & reliability requires solid engineering that uses the KISS principle. Hence, I really like the KATADYN POCKET because of the simplicity of engineering design, & robustness of material. When U get your POCKET, & have a chance to fiddle with it & use it.... I would love to hear your feedback.

@@DIYhabitat I do indeed have an eye or two for detail, which is partly why I enjoyed your presentation so much. I like that you showed how it works in such detail, and it appears to be simply brilliant in construction. I have actually wanted to get this filter for about 4 years, but have not for various reasons. I do indeed like my gear to be simple and rugged in its design without being less practical, and based on my research four years ago this seemed like the filter for me. I do, however, have the Katadyn Vario and some Sawyer Minis; tested but not used a lot. I can't promise when I'll get back to you since I am not the most frequent user, have other filters to use some more, and would like to thoroughly get to know my filter before I say too much, as well as some other reasons; but I will definitely try to get back to you with my thoughts once I have some more experience with it. I'll definitely come here if I have any questions. Thanks again for your amazing video. Easily the best video on this filter I've seen, and top notch of its kind of videos overall for sure. I particularly enjoyed your nuanced and open perspective on what the "best" filter would be, and that the parameters for deciding what "best" is indeed matter. Something I feel a lot of people miss. This objective and insightful perspective truly enhanced the rest of the video. A simple thing that really inspire confidence in the rest of your video and opinion/discussion. Not needed for the thoughtful, but it would have been missed if not stated. Take care!

There is another filtet by Katadyne called the Combi filter which incorporates an additional activated carbon filter to take care of chemicals & odours

yes. The Combi filter includes carbon filter for taste & chemicals.

Does it filter chemicals?

No. The products specs document explains what it is designed filter out.

One downside of the Pocket is that it will not remove chemicals & odour.

If that is your concern you can purchase the in line carbon filter. Its cheap, less than 10$
