One minute you sign up for this and then the next minute you're committed to a bunch of events or quotas or whatever it may be, and also the fact that you don't really know what's going to happen to your account on the back end. I have to admit that I like your stance at not taking the "influencer" moniker for any of these sites. On a personal level, I am not a fan of Whatnot in the slightest. I think it is because I really dislike auction-only sales. I'm sure there's more to it, but my initial impression of the site really turned me off. I'd rather purchase from places like Spider-Dude, or a couple others I frequent. At least I know I have a chance when it comes to those purchases. I' dunno. Maybe I am being too.....strict?

When I first found What Not I spent $1,000 a week there for months and months. 5% of the time the books were straight out lies and another 5% were damaged during shipping. It should be called Not Worth It. I’ll only buy from sellers that I trust like you from now on.

Overall my WhatNot experience has been good but I have ran into sellers that sell/ship absolute trash. I have gotten just gross comics shipped to me before so I try and stick to the major sellers.

I used to love whatnot now I absolutely positively fucking hate whatnot. All the big sellers non stop build up shit books to pray on noobs. If you say anything about how overpriced a book went for you get blocked. On the other hand I feels guilty of buying from newer sellers cause they’re stuff goes way under value. And the live signings are a freaking rip off everything goes for 4 times what it’s worth. So I’ve just stopped buying all together on whatnot.

I don't get what these whiners that are constantly complaining about Whatnot actually have an issue with. It's an auction platform for selling items like comics and other collectibles. Guess what, have you heard of eBay live? There is always going to be different platforms for the selling or auctioning of comics and other collectibles. The more relevant issue is the individual sellers and are you receiving the item that you purchased and in the condition that was advertised. If you don't like an individual platform then don't use it, but I am tired of all these whiners spreading their hate at anyone that chooses to either sell or purchase on Whatnot or any other platform that they have an issue with.

I agree. Every platform will have pros and cons, and every marketplace will have good sellers and questionable sellers. Consumers have to hold some accountability for themselves and their decision making.

I had to make some notes for this one. First off the original email seemed almost pushy. It didn't seem like an invitation, but more like a you want money come here. If it said something like we're reaching out to invite you to this new idea it wouldn't seem as bad, but to just say hey we're starting this send us your info or setup and we'll pay you, just doesn't sit well with me. Second, all this may be in the information that you may have gotten, but they are setting this up for you to create content. Just content like you have now or primarily on their site to promote and if you don't are there penalties. Will they start sniping the people using your links and sending them links to bigger sellers who bow down to them. You mentioned that they may offer exclusives or limited variants. Right now the way people are skeptical i don't know if i would want to be associated with that. If you happen to sell a book that has a 500 print run and turns out people find out there are 1000. People will be pointing fingers at the sellers and the platform can sit back and wash theor hands of it. I like your content now, middle ground and transparent. I may not agree with everything you say but i respect your opinion. I think you're better off without them. Keep it up man. Sorry about the novel i wrote.

Honestly WhatNot using their own marketplace platform to promote Massive titles through some of their key influencers isn't, in my opinion, a conflict of interest. You took the groceries as an example. Well some grocers association are so big that they can afford to produce some food products of their own (in-house brands), which they sell on their own marketplace. In the end, it's the customer that makes the pick. Same thing here, even if it's mixed with the second-hand market.

Great points. And again, I'm not saying it is a conflict, I'm just saying that it opens the doors for questions based on optics. The grocery store analogy wasn't an apples to apples example.
