I'm having a blast with it. I'm sympathetic for the many people that I feel are getting scammed, but I'm still burnt on what professional grading market has done to influence prices. This is coming from a pure reader who has only traded/sold books for books. I'm hoping prices continue to drop.

tbh ive sent my books into cgc several times 1st time was my books from when i was a kid at the beginning of the boom, got multiple 9.8s no press no clean. Then continued to send in books i bought raw or pulled out of collection. Never really had any issues. I feel the keys are worth doing if they worth it for you or the grade is nice. But I wouldn't fault ya on waiting, I just sent cgc books this week. and sending more when they come back from the presser. but most likely after this ill just purchase already graded books. so i know what im getting. Personal preference I suppose. But I do like my slabs have about 50

I just got 8 books back in the last couple of months. 4 has banana gate. When I first received them they were perfect so I think there is some shrinking of the inner capsule or some crazy thing like that. Contacted CGC and heard nothing back yet. Messaged on instagram and they told me to contact customer service 😅 thinking to myself is this guy not customer service. If they don’t fix it or properly compensate me. I won’t use them again. Either raw life or PSA in a couple of years time. Not a happy man

How many books are you submitting at a time? Also you doing any re-holder? As for me they have fked up my books multiple times via re-holder. Hence, I don't recommend anyone doing a re-holder unless your slab is cracked. In addition, I heard now they are possibly re-grading reholder due to slab scam that occurred from late last year. Hence you may get hit with grade dip going further.

There’s no way I’d be sending in my comics to them. There have been way too many issues to come about in recent history. To me, some of my comics have way more sentimental value that goes beyond what their $$ value might be. I’d rather not take the risk of any of them getting lost or damaged! Besides, there are lots of options available to protect and preserve comics other than getting them graded. Several of the options even have UV protection. 🧐

What they should do is give him the full replacement value of the 9.0 book they damaged. That's the bare minimum. Add on top of that some additional credits or whatever. But, yeah, offering 10% of the difference in value is just insulting.

Last week I received an issue of Amazing Spider-Man #255 Newsstand with a double cover back from CGC in a 9.6. However, they did not acknowledge the double covers on the issue. I sent it back per their instructions as a "mechanical" error. I hope it comes back in the same 9.6 grade, but again it's a crapshoot.

I recently inherited about 600 books and I was initially in the mood to press and grade them. After doing my do diligence I am now hesitant to send my books off to even get pressed and cleaned. The market is wonky, cgc appears to be wonky as heck to boot. I currently have only invested in bcw pre-made bags and boxs for my bronze age books. With where the market is at right now and all this grading nonsense I am not confident to send off my books off. I can wait. Stay Blessed!

Just like tags you find in clothing, they need an ‘inspected by’ indicator. Somewhere on the back so as not to mess up the front’s display of more vital information about the book itself, it could eventually weed out graders who botch their grades. Maybe corresponding numbers that indicate the string of individuals who were involved in your book’s handling, all the way through from receiving to shipping it out the door again, would be helpful in finding out where their internal problems lie.

A similar incident happened to me. I had a ASM 300 9.6 signed by Stan Lee, Romita, and Mcfarlane. They damaged it and regraded it at 7.5 and claimed I damaged it.

When will comic collectors learn NOT to send their books into CGC (for now). Starting with "Black Flag Gate" I have not sent any comics into them. It has only gotten worse since then. Currently, CGC is NOT a good bet for slabbing your comics.

I have no interest in buying cgc as I'm not a graded book collector but I have bought them when found them at a great price and cracked them out. Now I can't even do that because the condition of the book matching the grade on the label is suspect as hell. There's plenty of raw books available still and if I were a serious collector I'd be buying up as many raw nice condition keys as possible because eventually they won't be available raw anymore the way people have this grading fix.

The thing is CGC are people. The police are people. Doctors are people. We are a society of human people. We take care of each other. There is a human element. We don't have to kiss each others butts. We do it because we care. Why should CGC even do what they do? They don't have to. They can do other things. CGC are doing things for the comic community. When cgc ripped the cover off a 9.0 Whiz comic, they offered the guy Pennies and I did so much investigating and received the documentation and proof of it.
