The U-40 is what I used, but, I'm going to switch to Min-Wax urethane matt finish - or - the semi-gloss. Friends have used it and get very nice results. It DOES make the cork pop, though.

Makes a difference. We cant get U 40 products Down Under any more, i do not know why. Can't even import it 😒😒 ? What did you do in the split grip, looks great

That is Red Paua microflex abalone, I will be sharing better pictures of it once my customer gets the rods
