I've also been terrified for my parents. Specifically my mum as she has a lung condition so I was super worried for her. She had a letter saying her vaccination would probably be mid February but last week she had a phone call and two days later she had it. Massive relief for all of us! Feel like I can finally relax now haha

I totally get what you mean about being "lucky" about not having grandparents during this time.... I only have my grandma on my mums side left, and luckily she's already had the vaccine! but I know my granny on my dad's side would not cope well and would be anxious and lonely.

So glad you're feeling better. I had my Covid Vaccine on Tuesday and I'm feeling so much happier. I have severe breathing problems and have had to completely shield since last March, I'm really struggling and missing my friends a lot, but it feels like freedom is slowly coming.

Just as a quick fact check, thalidomide was a drug, not a vaccine, and prompted a huge overall of drug development and approval in medicine- the covid vaccine has had huge amounts of testing! :)

I thought this as well! Was it not for morning sickness in women and that’s what caused a lot of children to be born with deformities? Anyway completely agree, the whole world has been working on this vaccine so it doesn’t surprise me that it was quicker than most!

@@therandombananas98 yep it was, it was a really awful mistake but the scientific community has learned a lot from it. Alongside the huge amount of work scientists have put in over the last year, there is also decades of research that has already been done on vaccines which allowed them to make it so quickly 😁

I totally relate with you with your parents being the biggest worry for you. I too have one parent that is more valuable than the other and I’ll be so glad when she gets the vaccine. I’m kinda glad in a way too that all my grandparents didn’t have to live through this, would have been a lot of extra worry. 💗💗 x

I felt like you with the grandparents/ parents situation. No grand parents left alive and knew how much they’d of hated it all. my dad has heart problems similar to how you mention your own dad so I know the worry about laying at night about it all. I’ve been a key worker in a supermarket this whole time also so I’ve felt added pressure incase I spread it to him. so having his first vaccine takes a little stress away from me. take care xxx

I’m totally the same! My mum is diabetic and my dad has had previous heart issues. I’ve been worried to the pit of my stomach since March about them both, and my mum got the vaccine two weeks ago which was just a huuuuge weight of my chest! Just waiting for my dad now 🤞🏼

Absolutely no criticism for what you said about your grandparents. Me and my Mum have agreed that our Nan would have suffered hugely if she was still here during this time. The person I think about and worry about the most has to be my Gran, the only grandparent I still have. Fortunately, a lot of us have taken the time to visit her front door during this time (from a distance of course) and one of the highlights of my birthday in November was finally being able to chat with her after months apart.

get lysine supplements. I got mine on Amazon. I take one every few days and whenever I get a coldsore (which is very rare since taking them), its nowhere near as bad and does not last days and days - it is gone in pretty much a day or 2! Never thought it would work but it really did for me x

I've lost 3/4 grandparents and I feel the same way Han, obviously I miss them, but I'm glad they didn't have to go through all this. I lost my grandpa in Dec of 2019, and I'm grateful that things weren't locked down then so we could go to the hospital and say our goodbyes. It's been such a crazy year.

Hey Han Im the same I was scared of parents getting it so here in Ireland they are vaccinating care homes first and hospital staff my boyfriend has gotten the two doses so I am relieved. What you are talking about was tyliminide was the anti sickness tablets from back in the 60s that it causes birth defects with babies limbs
