I also started completely fresh a couple days ago. No heirlooms, no gold from my main, nothing. Currently level 45. Maxing professions, exploring, finishing every single quest and essentially doing everything I can. I'm having a blast.

That is exactly they way I have played this game since vanilla and all the way untill now, I never really care about endgame, raiding and that, I love leveling, I even do quests that are green color if the zone is still fun, i loooove world pvp its my main thing in the game followed by battlegrounds, doing lower level pvp is a blast. I also enjoy just derping around in the world, I get very social with other players leveling in the zone, I dont like to ignore them and if they interact back its great.

Yes dooood. Leveled my warrior up Arms and had such a blast. Still have many of those great iconic quest weapons and dungeon weapons in my bank @80 because of the memories blasting with them. Currently working on spriest and it's so much fun when I get sform

I did that too leveled a fury/prot warrior and then went to a disc/shadow priest which is currently at level 72 bc i refuse to level outside of dungeons with it. Yes it would be so much faster to run theu quests as shadow at this point but using my healer was my reasoning for even making the character and I dont really have a hard time finding a dungeon to go into.

I totally agree that just playing the game and having fun doing whatever is 100% the way to enjoy games in general. Honestly I tend to understand the base game better if I play without guides first. If I feel I'm lacking somewhere Ill pull up a guide but definitely a fan of just playing and enjoying. I used to just automatically pull up guides in the past and wonder why I put games down after a few hours. I ruin the experience/mystery to a game before even playing it

I'm sort of doing this. Returned as 60 about 3 weeks ago, and taking the time to clear the zones of quests and do the TBC and Wrath dungeons. 75 now and I could easily have been 80 a week ago and grinding for raid gear, but I'm in no rush. Having a blast so far.

Not having a group of friends/guildies on the server at max I didn't feel like there was a milestone to get to so I could get to the meta

Hey that's what i did in phase 2, and i did an arms warrior too! It's quite fun as you say, and still "overpowered" as you solo dungeons up to Outlands. I dream of a Classic WoW with the talents/gameplay of wrath, but mobs or our own stats scaled to make it "harder" or more vanilla-tuned in that way. The WoW Classic Ultimate.

I have leveled 3 new characters since Christmas and have had the most fun. My fav was fury warrior/ pve.. prot for pvp and now im raiding on it. So glad I did bc its def a fresh character to raid on as ive only played casters in the past. I have been spamming AV during AV week and 61 is the sweet spot for sure. After getting owned while grinding from 51 up I relished that moment that when turning 60 with bis gear almost made me not want to level anymore lol!! Thanks for making this bideo bc I was having so much more fun especially during that long tedious stretch in Uld 😂

Wrath made so many gameplay improvements from the very start to the end. Such as that boar killing quest in the Dwarf starting zone requiring only eight boars instead of twelve and that gnome offering his quest way out to that camp immediately. And even giving smarter starting weapons such as two-handers and letting rogues dual wield early instead of slogging through ten levels with a toothpick. And the Barber.

I've been doing something similar making twinked out alts and then xp off at certain levels to just solo dungeons with, its kinda amusing how op the scaling and wrath talents make low levels.

This can be applied to all videogames. If you ever feel like you don't enjoy games anymore or they aren't fun. Stop min-maxing, no guides. Just do it. Once you start doing this, you'll understand a lot of life is the same.

leveling is so fun in this game. I like meeting the people, trying new quests, seeing all the cool items. I rarely play beyond max level!

Whilst it is enjoyable the first couple of times, my humble reaction to calling WoW levelling "so fun" is to /roflmao... And after playing many other games, to compare it is just a shameful L to WoW. It's so bad only a casual who hasn't seen how much better other games are could possibly call it good... fair enough, it's great in the lense of being 20 year old content. And no offense to casual players. But to play through the levelling process a third, fourth, fifth or plus time during 2023 is honestly shear madness. I finally get where the retailers are coming from with their bash on classic players about nostalgia... It was good when it was fresh. But it's not any more, and with it the quality of life for the game has died. Meeting new fellow players is always cool, but 99/100 of them you encounter these days may as well be bots on their exp grind or loot chase. That's the harsh reality, there will always be a brighter side, but it's just not the majority.

@@Czermet666 I dont play a lot of other games, I have other hobbies and and full time job Im passionate about. I am exactly the word Casual when it comes to WoW. I find the grind, the small rewards, the little easter eggs and random challenge spikes fun! I dont need or like modern games take on fast paced gameplay, make you feel like a god by level two. I dont like the focus on being the best and microtransactions. The "Git Gud noob" mentality of "hardcore gamers" is killing the industry. it took me 20 years to finally beat Ocarina of Time and I loved every second of it. and when I finally got I felt immense pride. Saying "no offense" just comes off as offensive and prickish, you feel that your opinion is more important because you decide to devote more time to one thing than others might. I personally and putting y passions into surfing and winemaking. I dont get mad at people who buy boxed wine, I dont yell at those who rent 9ft foamies and sit in front of breaking waves. Were not all the same and we are all at different parts of lives. Dont /rofl at those who enjoy some simplicity in our increasingly complex lives. Get out of you little gaming chair and live a little outside, you might just learn to enjoy the game a bit more. or just fucking quit and not watch videos about things you clearly dislike

This is exactly what I did in during Wrath of the Lich King back in 2010... I had three level 80 characters, allowing me to tank, heal & DPS, for a varied end-game experience. I had a couple of characters XP locked at 70, running battlegrounds & HC dungeons ((The TBC community was still surprising active at the time)). I had several characters XP locked at level 60, again for dungeons & twinking in battlegrounds ((Prot Paladin in healer/spell power gear & avengers shield glyph'd was actually hilarious in PvP)). And I was always messing around with low level alts too. Over the years the game has grown massively in size & yet most players choose to neglect a large portion of entire game to focus on very small portions of the currently expansion... Rinse & repeat every 2 years.

I really want them to start over again - I started on a potato with Wrath Original, couldn't load Cataclysm so that was it for me. I didn't hear about them starting over until New Wrath. I hope they'll do another run so I can play the whole game from start to finish.

I did something similar. I got tired of the whole "Interview process" for getting into Raids (and towards the end even some Heroic stuff). The Min-maxing BS has become disgusting. I'm not a sweaty master or anything, but I've done all the raids before. I know what I'm doing. My Gear wasn't the best, but it was enough to handle my own in the raids. But they wanted my gear score to be well over the minimum and wouldn't even give me a chance. So I was stuck with no way to improve my gear score without getting into a raid, but couldn't get into a raid because of my gear score. Not to mention I started out on Grobbulus when Wrath dropped, so I did the free transfer of 2 of my toons but didn't realize it was an East Coast realm so by the time I was on, most of the evening Raids were already in progress. I would try out a few different guilds but they all had their raid teams set, and none of them wanted to run them over and over for the most part. So I was stuck on this server, with no one to really join up with. I was debating briefly with transfering one or both of them back but I didn't want to give Blizzard any more of my money than I had to. So I went back to Grobbulus and rolled a Paladin. Found a guild first day and actaully am having fun and am able to get groups for things and actually talk to people. It's like a different game. Hopefully I don't hit another wall at endgame, but until then I'm enjoying myself.

Part of the problem is that Northrend, Outland, and most other expansions create chunks of territory separate from mainland Azeroth that siphons a good chunk of the playerbase, emptying the world. And then split further between them with each addition after the initial rush settles.

Its pretty easy to have fun in WotLK Classic. The leveling system is still good (no terrible dynamic levels), the RPG aspect is still good, the story still makes sense. Having a lot of fun also rolling a fresh toon on Classic

Good luck! I started completely fresh about 3-4 weeks ago. Leveling was fun still lots of people out there leveling and doing dungeons to play with. But once I hit 80 I hit a brick wall. The PUG scene sucks for fresh 80s right now. Barely anyone looks for or tries to do normal heroics, everyone moved onto heroic ++ aka titan rune beta because the gear/currency is so good. Sounds great in theory but be prepared to get rejected a ton until you get to 4.5k gs for heals/tanks & about 4.8k for dps. Because high gs is so valued people just grind for PvP gear to pump their number up and their performance is shit. You could form your own groups sure but there can be a lot of joining and leaving of members as they sniff around what the avg gs of the group is and will leave it isn't high enough. Same problem with raids, high gs is king even with GDKPs unless you're a massive swiper/baller with 100k+ gold to flash some of these guys. The alternative of course is to try to climb the guild ladder and see where that takes you. Personally, I got very annoyed, very quickly of the whole dog and pony show and quit for the time being to go main Era and play some Retail on the side. Wrath is in a really weird place right now. So much hassle to raid fucking ToGC.

On warmane I remember all I did was lvl new characters (much more fun with rdf) semi twink them out put exp at 0.5 and spam dungeon and bgs. then hit 80 max professions and sell them on the warmane site so I could funnel gear to my main 80 arms/prot warrior pvp. At the time was not into raiding so it’s how I got the pve items I needed and it was literally the most fun I’ve had in a game. In wotlk classic I focus more on raiding as I didn’t really get to do much of it on warmane especially progression raids like Naxx and Uld but overall I felt like the experience on warmane was much better than it is now.

I think the optimum MMORPG design is to make a fine-tuned single-player experience, balance each class to that, and make it difficult enough that teaming up is notably better than going it alone and that instances need a group to clear. And make a totally separate balance system for PvP because, let’s face it, if you’re not a PvP enthusiast you aren’t going to do more than get your feet wet in it anyway and you can’t have your cake and eat it as PvP and PvE balance clash a lot.

Imo gdkps, the gold token, and not combatting bots has lead to people never needing to farm and only needing to be on for raid times. Raid logging is a symptom, not the issue! I’m on pagle alliance and it’s pretty hard to find groups for anything that isn’t the daily unless it’s 6-7pm…

player numbers shows the majority are stuck in this rut of caring too much about following the crowd but not necessarily even enjoying it and are figuring this exact thing out- just do what you want. Take HC for example and see the drop off of players who have since went to Whitemane (NA) and other populated softcore realms. I think people overall are slowly coming to this realization. Retail,Classic,HC,WOTLK are all pretty populated. Great time to play WoW.

Number one tip to making a new character No matter what name you choose you will be called by the first syllable of your name. Remember math and reduce your name to the simplest term and be ok with that being what players type in chat.

That's the way the game should be played! Imagine Blizzard focused on making the existing game better instead of resetting the game with expansions. Old players may slowly die out but there won't be a shortage of new players so the playerbase will remain healthy. Blizzard has been too greedy in maintaining current players and forgot what mmo was about... a virtual world that people come and go but have fun!

"if your time has no value you play hardcore classic" I already played orginal classic and 2nd classic max level raided all raids geared out etc. its just not fun. even the end game is bad 40 man raids are awful 2-3 pieces of loot per boss? thats already awful non hardcore. Hardcore is fun. but its way to easy and i dont feel like dying after 100 hours because of a bug

I dont know why people care what people do in these games, I've always played these games doing what I want and what I find fun. Even if thats, for example, running to level 30 and starting over and enjoying the journey on another character. Worrying about meta, caring about others opinions is just a waste of time. Enjoy however you can. With this and LOTRO, and Star Wars Galaxies I have always done this.

I've considered it too, as the goal for Classic for me was always to experience Ulduar & ICC as current content... but I've since bought FFXIV and have enjoyed my time there much more as a solo than I ever could have in WoW. If I was to ever return to WoW l, I'd definitely avoid the mega-servers and just play on a medium pop realm like I did when I enjoyed that game the most. Mainly to avoid the broken economy and the toxic atmosphere of how a server revolves around gdkps, common meta-play & lootwh**ing. But that comes with it's own downside of pug sparsity. So I feel like I'm finally done with WoW now for good. I may play Retail again one day, if a future expansion is revealed to be a genuine turn-around and not another false hope. I'm still 2 full expansions away from the endgame & max lvl in FF14, but the story-driven levelling has been far more captivating than the pure exp grind of levelling in WoW for the sole purpose of reaching raid tier, with battlegrounds being the only fun exception along the way.

We've got a few good "remake" expansions to go before retail WoW will be something we'll want to play again. Blizzard has a lot of work ahead for them, and that's if they don't screw up at all.

I came from ffxiv to wotlk. I preferred ffxiv leveling as well. Way more alt friendly as there is no risk to take on a new class. The dungeon roulette is also way better than wotlk group finder.

You can also level other classes on the same character in ffxiv which I like. No twinkling in PvP either since gear and levels/abilities are all equalized making PvP a lot more enjoyable. I leveled my main job doing story then alt job doing frontlines since the roulette xp for it is so good.
