Why I will never buy another EGO tool again, Weed Eater, Chain Saw or any other tool of theirs for that matter at least until I see them make some changes, oh and by the way it would be nice if they, EGO that is, could contact me and provide me with some up to date tools. And if they stand the test of time i will/might change my mind. Because not only did the one tool die but two tools died plus a battery. So so far as I see things, at least with me they don't really have a good repour.

I’ve had the same issues with Ryobi battery ope not lasting. I’ve gone through two mowers in 4 years. The problem is once you have a bunch of decent batteries you’re stuck with that line up. We need universal batteries, can you imagine if your car could only get gas from the dealerships.

Well they do have universal adapters that fit different batteries for different tools

My trigger did the same thing after I left it in the rain. I took it apart and sprayed some cleaner in the switch and it's been fine since (2 years later)

I just got into an EGO snowblower, single stage. I'm pleased so far. The batteries have a 3-year warranty. Check that in that battery that is kaput. Do you have multiple chargers? Perhaps that is an issue. Universal battery: there is one in the market and you add the appropriate adapter for your equipment. There are inexpensive battery adapters for other brands. For example, I'm into DeWalt 20V and Craftsman V20. I have adapters to use each brand battery on the other's tools. Both ways. It depends what I throw in my battery bag when I go outside to do work.

I've got a 20V dewalt saw, 20V masterforce trimmer, 20v masterforce trimmer, 56V Ego 24" two stage blower, zero problems here! Keep all my batteries inside a heated garage and cycle/charge as needed. In 10-12 years I've had one masterforce battery failure, zero dewalt, and zero ego. The bad masterforce battery was taken apart and good cells used for rechargeable headlamps...still using the cells today!

I have several Ego products and batteries. I just use them around my house. I keep the batteries inside a climate controlled house. I store the batteries at 40-60% state of charge. And I rarely drain them past the red battery indicator. All that said, when I first got my mower I could mow 90% of my yard on one 5ah battery. One year later, it takes one 5ah and nearly an entire 4ah to complete the job. It's pretty ridiculous how much the battery degrades, especially considering the massive price they demand for batteries. 4ah Dewalt $40-50, 4ah Ego $130-150. That's on top of them being just too big and too heavy for what they are. Batteries aside, I love my Ego tools.

Ego batteries are big and expensive due to the higher voltage. It simply needs 3 times as many cells to provide 56v as it does for 20v batteries. Plus they have a cooling system that smaller batteries don't provide. .

I have about 10 EGO products, but I don't think any of the electric brands can withstand daily professional use. A few things I learned, always get the battery with the product (way cheaper) and don't buy the first gen products. EGO is notorious for making improvements that you would think should have been caught. I seen a hack to fix that battery, I think it was you hold down the button when it blinks RED for 30 to 60 seconds and it resets. I saw it a while ago, I hope that helps!

I use the Milwaukee system for both a chainsaw and weedeater. I find both of them are super convenient for short jobs. For larger jobs I find that my echo weed eater and husky chainsaw are just so much more powerful and versatile that I wouldn't want to go full electric. Also, my gas tools are easy to repair and adjust if I needed to. With the electric tools, if they stop working you are pretty much throwing them away and buying another.

most brands make a home back yard line of products that are affordable, but then are made in one factory where the factory just does not have the quality production experience on all the parts, some brands make a "commercial grade" that is assembled from parts that are made all over the world, as the brand is sourcing from what each factory produces well. but then one is going to pay perhaps double the price for a brand name with a commercial grade product. even tho I payed way over a thousand dollars for my electric battery arborist chain saw, plus more for a extra battery, it payed for itself many times, while electric chainsaws are only in there early stage of being only about the third model, I had a few issues that the 3 year warranty had handled quickly at my local authorized dealer, but I would not have been able to prune 40 thousand huge cherry trees and stay in health without the exhaust in my face, nor got the huge job done on time if I did not have such a commercial grade saw that was electric with local warranty service. also never let anyone borrow your chainsaw, as they will often not care for it well, and there are too many hidden parts that some people play with , or break and then fix it wrong without telling you.

@ I mean the tools come with a standard with a 5 year warranty with ego and the batteries come with a 3 year warranty, all you have to do is register ur tool with ego after purchase; no additional warranty needed. If it’s more than a year it’s likely too late, but it’s worth trying to register the tools and batteries to see if you can still warranty them.

$300 for a battery? 😢😢 I purchased a gently used Stihl MS261 pro saw for $400 this summer. Runs great cuts great. Pro gas equipment that is maintained properly retains it's value. Who would ever buy used Ego equipment?

Wow...I've never met anyone who works with chainsaws , like seriously/professiinaly , who would recconend an electric (battery powered one). Some people I know use them for cutting branches or some trimming work (4by4 , or such) up on the roof , though they mostly use (as far as I know) Chinesium stuff and ghey are perfectly happy with it (for money the've payed - usually around 150-180 euros with two 6 AH batteries and a charger). Extra battery costs lik $15 a piece. Of corse , after two yesrs they are gone (depending on a use) , but who cares. As for wheed wacker , for that kind of money - you're better off with obtaining a goat and a peace of rope , to tie it on the spot that you want trimmed .Well , it worked for my friend , on pretty neglected orchard. We have Gardena brand here (expensive , of course) and it is good , but only for tiny front/back yards in urban areas (very low noise) if one likes new toys and doesn't want to mess with exstention cords. Otherwise , always bet on Stihl , or Husquarna. (ear plugs are really cheap). Btw , nice to se the shop ...

@veggitarianredneck the fit and finish on the greenworks stuff isnt as nice, i find their chainsaws, mowers n blowers are much better... We had an ego chainsaw and returned it, the e stop barely had enough room for my hand and if i wore a winter glove it would set it off. We still run some ego trimmers, although we wont be buying any more after they die.

Electric will always out perform gas. The only thing that holds it back is battery technically. But electric has more power, more torque, in a smaller package. It also has almost no maintenance compared to gasoline.
