I'm a full time mechanic. I work on new Fords on a daily basis. The quality and problems that I've encountered on near new, low mileage Ford vehicles would blow your mind. In 20 years working on cars, I've never seen anything like this. America is in for some very dark days ahead.

Josh, the saddest part of this story is it isn't just Ford. It's many industries. I do HVAC work and so many furnace and ac parts are obsolete it is so disheartening having to tell one of my customers, we can't get parts to fix your equipment anymore you need a new one. Even though it's only 10 years old. Makes me wish we could bring factories back here to manufacture our own parts.

@@fredwilliams7893I agree you can find parts but as another HVACR Tech I’m not going to stand behind that part with my 90 day warranty if my distributors won’t either. My labor costs a lot and I still need to pay bills. Some parts can take a day to install would you like to do it for free and eat the price of that part. Then if I were to give them the option and it continues to break because the part sucks that customer could have saved the extra $1500 and just put it towards the new unit. It’s a circle of terror and big manufacturers are to blame.

@z71btruck I don't know! But I do know my my condenser started having problems and turns out it was the fan motor then the relay switch. Total cost 200 bucks and that was 3 years ago. New condensers cost 5 ton10 grand! So in my case I saved thousands buying cheap parts instead of a whole new unit !

My wife and I bought a used Toyota Highlander years ago at a Toyota dealership. After a few years and having it regular serviced for oil changes and such, a few days before my wife had to make a long trip in the dead of summer, the air conditioner had a problem. We called the dealer and he said it was probably just a sensor and to drop it off around lunch time the next day, get something to eat and it will be ready. He said it would probably cost around $275 to fix it. Great, we did just that, got some lunch, came back, and the guy gave us the keys and said, "well, no charge". I asked why and he said that when they pull the part, Toyota said that sensor should have lasted at least to 180k miles, you only have 130k. So parts and labor are free. That sold me for life! There is a Toyota and a Lexus in my garage and it will always stay that way. Do you think Ford, GM, BMW or any other car maker would even think of doing something like that??? NEVER!

You will never regret it, I had a 2005 4Runner that I sold for $5,000 at 300,000 miles and it was still running strong. I just sold my 2005 Toyota Corolla for $3,800 at 213,000 miles running strong, only oil changes on both vehicles and a new head gasket on the corolla at 180,000 miles!! The sales amount at that high of mileage tells you the high regard these vehicles have. You can't go wrong with a Toyota. They are over engineered.@@StoneyRidgeFarmer

I was going to say that it vastly depends on the dealer itself since they are basically privately owned. My experience was with Honda though. The one closest to me is absolute garbage. Talking now about service and parts department. So I drive 50 miles one way and honestly couldn't ask for better service. But then again, entirely different brand.

Nothing's changed at Ford in 40 years. 1982 I bought a new car from their dealer. Water leaked thru all the windows when it rained. I mean the trunk filled with water. The floor pans where you feet rested front and back seats filled with water till it reached the sills and poured out the bottom of the doors. After many failed attempts to correct this the car became moldy and stinky and mildewy. The engine never ran smooth, lots of banging and surging. The vehicle spent 5 months of it's first year at the dealership, and was vandalized while in their possession. I was forced to hire a lawyer, sue them in court, and successfully got my lawyer fees and vehicle cost back to me. So not surprised at your runaround, I haven't the time to go into other issues with the car, the dealership, Ford motors.. Customer satisfaction not their concern. Them going out out of business, not my concern.

I had a brother in law (R.I.P.) that sold cars for a living at various dealerships and to him, the worst one to sell for was Ford. He literally had to leave there because the owner was forcing him to lie to the customers about the quality and the resale value, bla bla bla. He couldn't do it.

It's not just Ford. Most new models no matter what brand are having supply problems. And your uncle seems to have sold you, his problem. But you're right about one thing. Older models without all the whistles, and bells were a lot more reliable.

Or take Ural motorcycles - they're two tires and a spring on a 70 year old air-cooled engine design, you couldn't build a simpler motorcycle if you tried. Those Urals break *constantly* - like... it's a running joke at this point. Are we certain that maybe attention to detail and consistent application of quality assurance standards isn't a better idea?

I have a 94' F150 long bed XLT, I drive it every day and routinely get compliments on it. Cheap and easy to work on, everything works as designed and just like these fancy 85k trucks it runs, drives and hauls cargo.

EX master certified Ford mechanic here, turned wrenches for Ford for 16 years, and left the industry 6 years ago because of poor engineering and even worst technical support for these ridiculously OVERengineered vehicles. Sometime around 2012-2013 is when quality went bad for Ford, and has never gotten better. There are too many examples to list, but for me the never ending recalls that started coming around in 2012’ish finally did me in, and the final straw, was when Ford issued the THIRD door latch recall on the 2015 and newer F150. After having removed the door panels, off the same vehicles, for the third or more time, I knew things weren’t going to get better for Ford, and I took my $30,000 worth of tools, my education, and certifications, and left the business entirely. I’m now working for Honeywell in the Aerospace industry. Oh, and as I continued watching you video and you were showing the “TSB” repair on your vista roof panel mechanism, and immediately started having PTSD flashbacks of performing hundreds of those repairs, because Ford, in their infinite wisdom, decided to install plastic parts that are constantly exposed to sunlight, on their vista and sun roofs. Where are my meds? 🤪🤪

Hasn't it been known for many, many years that sunlight destroys many or most plastics? I just broke an old lawn chair that had been in the Texas sun for 20 years - and it was my fault because I was pushing it with my riding mower and let a leg get in a bind between the mower and the ground, forcing it to break. So if a lawn chair in full sun can last 20 years of intermittent use but full sun exposure, why can't those Ford sunroof parts do as good or better?? Many official brand auto dealers today practice some form of Stealership, in which they cut corners or just fail to do the work the customer paid for. It becomes up to the customer to find an honest auto repair shop that will actually diagnose and fix problems, often in the process discovering that the Stealership simply defrauded their customer to make a few extra unearned dollars. I live 90 miles from the nearest Chrysler Dodge dealer other than the one in my town. But that one has messed up repairs three out of four actual visits, and lied about things, then got mad at me for pointing out where they charged me for work not done. We had three Chryslers, now down to two, soon to be only one. I have mainly been unhappy with their paint which has not held up to the Texas sun anywhere near as well as other brands' paint have held up. At 50k miles and above I got bubbling clear coat on all my Chrysler products. The one I am selling is a great little car, I call it my little Bimmer because it drives and handles so well. But it is supremely ugly due to their paint failing. I'll never sell it for what it is worth as a comfortable, drivable car with 105k miles getting 24mpg and few problems, but since I seldom drive it it is not worth paying insurance on it anymore.

All of the big three domestic full size trucks are garbage. It starts with the active fuel management systems (cylinder deactivation) that can cause engine failures right off the lot. Longevity is a thing of the past. Garbage parts and shoddy assembly. Quality is a mess. Toyota or Honda is about all that's left standing and they don't necessarily have a vehicle that fits the needs of all customers. Thankfully, my Dodge Challengers were built in Brampton, Canada which closed in December. My daily drivers are Honda or Toyota.

I'm 31 with an engineering education & experience, and it is extremely obvious to me that the quality of just about everything we interact with in our lives is on a downward trajectory. Corporate greed & lack of caring for the customers is eroding people's trust & directly/indirectly harming our collective quality of life. The problem isn't that they cannot make quality vehicles while saving money, that is a good thing. The problem now is they are making very complex vehicles with lots of expensive electronics doing way more than is needed. Expensive finicky parts tend to fail. Stick with the more basic vehicles and your reliability will go up. K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid.

I get it. I bought 2020 Ford Ranger used with just 24,000 miles on it. Wt 28, 000 miles I took it to the local Ford dealer in Las Vegas for a shifting problem on the 10 speed TCM transmission. Turns out the mechanic recommended a full trans rebuild! So, one month later, I got my Ranger back, but noticed it was still shifting hard. I was told not to worry as the TCM trans was re-memorizing my driving habits. So again, the trans got real bad at 32,000 miles with hard downshifting. Having said that, the dealer did give me a loaner Ford F-150 for that month, and experienced the same shifting issues with the loaner!! It was then I decided to make that problem go away. I traded it in and replaced my Ford with a 2020 Ram which had 61,000 miles on it. I've had my Ram for one year now with NO PROBLEMS whatsoever! Ford, you've lost my business forever....

You got burned. I have a 2019 Ford Ranger with 200k on it and no problems with the 10 speed. Yea it has shifted weird 2-3 x when i change my driving style. Nothing major! I run synthetic oil in it and change when the oil change light comes on. I also has the transmission serviced at 175k miles.

I've had a few GM vehicles and all were garbage, I will never buy a GM again. My buddy has a 2002 Chevy truck with 300K on it and it does well. I have all Ford trucks and zero problems. It just depends on the particular vehicle in my opinion.

Rule 1: Never buy any vehicle that has cylinder deactivation. Even if made well, the temperature differential from the unused cylinders causes head gaskets to leak and ruin your engine. Rule 2: Never buy an undersized turbo charged engine, always opt for the larger non-turbo engine if available. Just saved you tens of thousands of dollars.

Or tune out the deactivation for $200 (Range device or tune). Not 100% effective at lifter failure prevention, but might just save your engine.

Yes going with a 6cyl Tacoma or 4Runner in the 2023. My 2019 Ford Ranger with Turbo boost has had the transmission go out of it at 69000 miles and they have had it for 6weeks now and don’t plan on getting to it till mid January 2024 at earliest.

I just sold my 2018 Raptor after four replacements of the Cam Phasers as well as the front vacuum lock system for the 4WD which went out 3 times. I traded it up for a 2024 Tundra, and I was super impressed and pleased! I feel you, friend.

On that TCM issue, you can pull the relay for it out of the fuse box, wait a few minutes, and then put it back in, and that will reset it without going to the dealership. That will last for months at a time.

The last bad experience I had at a dealership was for my wife’s Subaru. I took it up because it had an emissions fault and was supposed to be under warranty. Turns out it wasn’t under warranty due to rodent damage. They wanted like $1500 to put a whole new wiring harness in. I said show me the damage. A rat had chewed two wires in two. Purchase my dream truck 2021 F250 lariat, pinion seal 11,000 miles a total of six trips back for them to replace the seal as per Ford. The seventh trip they replaced opinion gear at 36,000 miles. It finally stopped leaking sold it at 43,000 miles. Will never buy a Ford again. That was the least of my problems.

Josh, man, I feel your pain. This is becoming so common from the Big Three, and particularly Ford. One way consumers can determine whether or not they are getting a good product, is to listen in on the quarterly investment calls with stock analyst. This is where publicly traded companies like Ford have to detail their performance and basically “pull back the curtains” on any anomalies on the balance sheet. For the last several years, CEO Jim Farley has had his team set aside 100’s of millions of dollars for “warranty and quality” expenditures. I believe in the October quarterly that number was over $1B. So to its shareholders, Ford is admitting they can no longer build a trouble free product. The fact that this number has been building every quarter for years is the best indicator that the consumer has of a systemic quality problem within. All companies set aside expenditures for warranty, that’s normal. Stuff sometimes goes wrong. The “tell” is whether or not that number builds over time. Marketing is all BS. It’s the analyst calls where they must come clean or they violate SEC regulations and can end up in serious hot water. Best of luck resolving the issue.

That’s what happens when bean counters run a company. I’m sure a bunch of engineers cry foul whenever a bad part is discovered, but Ford ships it anyways. They did exactly this with the PowerShift transmission, which never worked right and the company knew it all along.

I learned this lesson many years ago. I’ve always found that it cost me less to do my own work to repair things and takes less time if I don’t have to deal with anyone else if I just do it myself. Since age 15 I’ve pretty much done enough work on all of my vehicles and can call myself the best mechanic I know. I have amassed enough tools to tackle almost any job, and when I’m on the road I generally know the issue just by the sound. those are just a few of the benefits of learning to work on your own vehicles. I am now over 50 years old and have my own car lift, and will never own a home without one. Being a mechanic (an engineer actually) and having looked under the hood of Ford pick up trucks, I would never buy one. I have a 2003 Dodge Cummins 1 ton pick up, and that engine has been so easy to work on. You can actually see the engine unlike a Ford! I just changed my water pump and it took less than one hour. Do that in a Ford! I have never bought a warranty on anything in my life. Financially, I am so far ahead it isn’t even funny. I feel you brother, I went through that headache recently with my brand new, zero miles f150 with 3.5 V6. I had it for about six months before it broke down on me and was at a Ford dealer for repairs for over a month with no loaner vehicle offered to me until 3 weeks into the problem and not before I called corporate. I thankfully was able to return the vehicle to Ford and recieved most of my money back because I thankfully heard of the Lemon Law. Good luck, and I won't go back to Ford either.

One of the reasons I left a Ford dealership was because one of my customers had a similar experience, His F150, actually his company"s, had an issue with I believe the timing chain that took a couple of weeks to resolve. I argued with the manager to at least give the guy one of the used trucks on the lot for a loaner. They refused. They lost a customer that potentially could have led to much more business.

As a mechanic for over 48 years and a truck junkie for 60. I saw the writing in the wall when Ford introduced this 3.5 twin turbo as a truck engine. It was a quick fix to meet regulations. Small underpowered displacement, so you put twin turbos on it as cheap power adder. Knowing there's already cam phaser and oiling issues. The Raptor should have only had the 5.0 coyote option. Sorry about your issues, but like the comments mention it's industry wide.

Nothing is wrong with turbos. Americans in general just make low quality, disposable sht that's built with planned obsolescence in mind. They can't even make a reliable NA engine, let alone FI. Europeans and Japanese vehicles have no issues with using forced air.

The 3.5 isn't what it's cracked up to be, but it's no less reliable than a V8. The 2.7 "nano" on the other hand, is probably Ford's best engine, most reliable too. In my opinion, if an F-150 w/ a 2.7 isn't powerful enough to haul or tow whatever you need, you should be looking for an F-250 w/ a diesel. I'm just say'n.....

Similar issue happened with a friend's dodge 2500 bought brand new in 18. The rear transfer case wasn't getting lubricant to the top of the gears and would basically make obnoxious sounds and then freeze up. The engineers determined that replacing the fluid every 3k miles was determined to be the best option. He had the rear end rebuilt 5 times in two years with his truck being out of service for months. He finally after warranty expired replaced the whole rear axel and hasn't had issue since. But nonetheless a 80k dollar truck that is going to be in the shop all the time is not worth it.

At least mopar rebuilt the rear end. I had a 2015 Chevy 3500 that was pissing oil out of the axle where it mated with the differential. I monitored it and before the warrenty ran out I took it in to get fixed, the service guy said we wiped it down with a rag, if it leaks again bring it back. You think I hadn’t been doing that. I had another issue that another Chevy dealer in Pa said they rewired the entire rear end of my truck. They even charged a dealer down in Texas for it. Turns out they didn’t touch a damn thing on it. I still had mud from Texas on all the wiring they claimed to have just replaced brand new. Bunch of con-artists running these dealerships nowadays.

Now North America wants to phase out gas engine to only have more pollution mining minerals for EV auto batteries and to power all of this. My last F150 had the simple 302 v-8 1995. I put 508,000 miles on it. Never ever even had the valve covers off. Original water pump. Ran great. The new over complicated trucks today, forget it! Money pits, hell my first house was only $73,000 dollars.

I get 600,000 plus miles out of the small block Chevy vans. They stopped making the SB about 2002. I still try to find pre 2003 vans. The 302 and 351w was good Ford engines. Some of their engines were completely garbage though, like the 351c.

Bro, your patience is way beyond what I would have been able to muster. I had a similar issue with dodge where the truck went in for service and came back with a significant fuel leak. They played the same games until I took it to Google reviews and yelp. After I did that, they were reaching out to me at the corporate level to make it right. They take those reviews really seriously because it can cost them a future sale or future service appointment. If you haven’t done that yet, I would take that route as well. I was surprised how quick the shit attitude I was getting from customer service turned into, “how can we make this right” in exchange for you taking that review down?

I own a 2023 F150 Platinum, which is a great-looking truck with an interior I really like. However, I've encountered numerous problems while driving around the country writing for a cattle ranching magazine. The transmission broke, leaving me without the truck for over 100 days. The sunroof glass exploded on the freeway due to thermal change, showering me with glass while driving. Ford denied the claim, saying, "We don't cover glass," so I had to use my auto insurance, which raised my rates. A Ford-approved collision center took over three weeks to fix it and had to redo the repairs, leaving me with a tiny loaner car for another two weeks. The constant hybrid transition issues caused another transmission failure, adding to the over 100 days without my truck. On top of that, the moving vents in front of the radiator broke, and they wanted $1100 for repairs, which I refused. They say something hit them but there's no damage seen, other than they simply fell out of their mounts due to a few potholes I'm sure. I'm still without the truck, waiting for a new transmission. I've started the buyback process because I'm over it. I love the Azul Grey look, and I added bigger tires and leveled it, but it’s useless if it's always breaking down. I own a ranching magazine called American Beef Producer, so I'm visiting ranches around the country most of the year and can’t afford to be stuck with a constantly unreliable truck. 😔

The 3.0 diesel’s are 💯 pure crap! Back in August 2023 I bought a new GMC SIERRA AT4 truck $80k with the 3.0 diesel, and after 10 days of ownership the DEF system went out and I was stranded on the side of the highway for two hours waiting on AAA to show up. GM told me that I would have to wait 3 months for the parts to fix the truck, and I told them I wasn’t waiting and that I would call an investigative news reporter and report the issue. Then all of the sudden the GM dealership where I bought it had claimed to have fixed the problem and I got my truck back. Three weeks later I was hauling my 22 Ft Carolina skiff boat with this vehicle and the diesel engine caught on fire while on the highway. The cause of the problem was a bad DEF sensor that wasn’t sending DEF fluid to the engine. At least this is what I was told by the service manager. I called GM, called an attorney etc. 7 days later GM refunded me the full purchase price of that vehicle. There have been many issues with the 3.0 diesel trucks from GM and yet GM still refuses to issue a formal recall. I also own a 2023 C8 Corvette, and have no issues. I currently have a 23 Tahoe, so far no real issues. But however, I’m hearing from other Tahoe owners that they are having issues with their vehicles. I feel that all American vehicles now are taking a serious nose dive in overall quality.

Josh, I purchased the 2020 F-350 Tremor Diesel. At 29,000 km the air intake system plugged up with snow and ice, the result was damage to the turbo and engine. Truck went into local dealer for assessment, 30 days later finally got word back that it would not be covered on warranty because it was a result of “road conditions”. Up here in Canada we have a road condition called winter, when it snows the blowing snow actually forces its way into the air box which is located right behind the grill. Final after 4 months, I paid to get the turbo fixed myself, within a week I traded the truck in on a brand new Duramax… I will never buy a cord product again. Ford Canada was absolutely useless in backing up any warranty claim.

In 2007 I bought a used F-250 from a dealership in Texas which had a 100 point inspection. I was pulling a light load to Alaska and needed a truck. I drove it about 1000 miles and was hearing a squeal.Took it to another dealership in New Mexico and they said the carrier bearing and ball joints were shot. I called the dealership in Texas and they told me there is nothing they could do. I contacted Ford Motor Company and they stated they have no control over the dealerships. I had to fix the issues my self in a relatives driveway before I could continue to Alaska.

Not Toyota or Lexus! I have had nothing but these manufacturers products for 25 years. The 2019 Mustang Bullitt was a good vehicle when new. But I’ve had more problems with the Mustang than all the Toyota products combined over 25 years. And on the rare occasion I need work done the Toyota dealer is prompt, friendly and quick. After my Mustang gets repaired AGAIN, I am selling it and getting a Toyota Supra. I also have a 2022 Ram Power Wagon. I’ve only had it about 8 months, but it has only required oil changes, which my Ram dealer handles promptly and appropriately. It isFord that is the problem, with Bradley Ford in Lake Havasu City, AZ being an additional problem for an unreliable vehicle. Last time it was in the shop they kept it for two months while refusing me a loaner car. No more Fords, and no more service at Bradley until I get rid of the POS they sold me!

Your story drives home the simple truth that the American work force is failing across the board. Every industry in America is having similar issues. We major on packing our products full of high tech gizmos and forget all about quality build and durability. I have thought for a few years about buying a new truck, but every time I start shopping for one I get scared off by these very issues. So, I will keep driving my 2004 Ram 1500 work truck. I might do some upgrades to it. But it is mechanically simple and very dependable. I've never had a problem with it beyond normal wear and tear issues. Of course, parts availability might be an issue at some point. But so far it hasn't been. I hope you find a resolution for your Ford Raptor issues.

The issue is that Ford, GM, and Stellantis are more worried about share holders and stock prices than anything else and the more stuff they can jam onto a truck, the higher it will cost, and the more profit they get per vehicle. The "big 3" look to make their money NOT on the original purchase, but on all of the repair work and parts you will need to buy over and over and over to keep it running. Remember, many companies now build cars and trucks "for life", but that "for life" is only the length of the warranty and NOT 10 or 15 years, its now 3 years/36000 and after that they don't care. It is sad, Ford used to be so good.

I would definitely recommend buying a 2010-2021 Toyota Tundra, I know of many people who have Tundra’s and all are happy with them. I have a 2019 Ford F150 Supercrew. I purchased it used with 41K miles. It currently has 71K miles. It has been dealer-maintained, by the book, for the life of the vehicle. A few months ago the check engine light came on and threw some timing codes. I took it to the dealership, and they said the cam phasers needed to be replaced. $4200. We did the repair. I got the truck back and a few weeks later the shifting started to be erratic. I called the dealership. They said if it wasn't throwing any codes to keep driving it and the same stuff "TCM, blah blah blah, learns your driving habits, factory reset". Finally the check engine came on after some very rough idling and hard shifting. I took it back to the dealership. It took over 2 weeks to get a diagnosis. They told me it was "high oil pressure" and I needed to REPLACE THE ENGINE. I have a very comprehensive third party warranty I purchased and now they have been fighting over it. I have been without my truck for 30 days, no end in sight. The warranty company says they won't cover an engine and we have to find the "cause of failure". And the dealership says they can't help me unless I want to do a complete engine tear-down to find the cause. But the dealership says they do not have the ability to put it back together after they tear it down. So we would just waste 20 hours of diagnosis just to be back at an engine replacement. This Ford F-150 is garbage. I cannot believe what I have done.

I had a similar issue earlier this year with car repairs and I determined that the cars are so complicated that this is the new normal. I spent my whole life driving used vehicles and paying for repairs. This worked well for a very long time but I found out the hard way that the cost of repairs and finding a reputable mechanic is few and far between. My recommendation is to buy new and when the warranty expires it’s time to sell. If you want to keep it longer make sure you purchase the extended warranty at the time of purchase. I would also only consider Toyota if I needed a 1/2 ton truck.

I'm an ASE tech in TX for a large company who buys dozens of these (and many other vehicles) every week and the sheer amount of Ford products (and also Chrysler) that come in at 90k miles with slipping or failed transmissions, rattling timing chains, BCM failures, bad heads, blown motor mounts, leaking oil etc absolutely blows my mind. Its mostly the domestic vehicles that are junkers, we get a good amount of Toyotas in at 150k with little to no issues at all. And these aren't heavily abused either, just driven like you would a car but they're not holding up

Ford is not the same company of yesteryear they’ve become a company of screwing customers for pure profit,now things are turning on them big time and thank God people are waking up to it and many other things.I had a beautiful 2019 King Ranch crew cab F-150 and had the same issues and all before 30,000 miles I actually drove loaner trucks more than I did mine,stuck exhaust valve before first oil change,cam phasers replacement before 2nd oil change and the whole time transmission was rough shifting and then again cam phasers replacement before the 3rd oil change finally Fraud Motor Company decided to put in a Re-manufactured motor and offered me 10k and another 100k warranty or try the New Re-manufactured motor and if I wasn’t satisfied with it they will buy it back so finally I though I was gonna start loving my truck so I drove for about 2 weeks and low and behold the famous rattle at start up was starting on my re-manufactured motor.we called Fraud back and started the buy back procedure and received All of our money back and they lost not just my business forever but my friends and families business,so needless to say Fraud motor company deserves to suffer a little until they can absolutely prove that they can make a product that can last and at a better value.P.S. This year 2023 I went and bought a Nice Ram Crew Cab Laramie with the Hemi and am I am absolutely loving it.Dont waste time with Ford unless you like stress and a life of aggravation.All this said with sadness because I’ve been a Ford customer and fan for over 40 years.

So sorry for your experience. Our very first diesel truck is a 2017 f350 powerstroke that we purchased new back in late '17 for full-time rv travels. We had it for 6 years without any problems except front end minor death wobble and rear differential leak. I traded it in for a new 2023 Ram 3500 diesel for I wanted more simplicity of the inline 6 Cummins diesel with the Aisin transmission combo. I went with this route as I planned on keeping this one as my final diesel truck. I really hope you will find the best truck for you and your family.

I lived near a Ford dealership and would wonder through their lot on weekends just looking at it's inventory. Two observations that got my attention were sun roofs not fitting properly and dust with poor paint coverage on the bottom of vehicle doors. Basically their careless manufacture process. I bought Fords for many years with no problems but I had growing concerns and switched to Toyota about 25 years ago. The issues Ford is currently having and my experience with owning Toyota vehicles has been a wise decision and money in the bank.

I grew up in a GM family and been a Toyota fan since 1985 when I bought first 4WD half ton PU. This was before the Tundra and Tacoma, and I would still be driving it except my daughter came along and there was no room for a baby car seat, and I purchased a 1986 4 Runner. I haven't looked back and drove several vehicles over 250k each. This is horrible customer service by Ford.

Sorry to hear all the problems. I have a 2017 ford raptor super cab and have had zero issues. It runs great. I have 75 k miles. I hope it remains that way! Fingers crossed !

I had one same year cam phaser started to go bad about the same miles as what you had. Then the transmission went out…… was told it would take 7 months to fix because of lack of parts so I was forced to trade it in and get hosed! Good luck ! Sell it now

I found your videos while looking for honest reviews on used trucks. I watched the video of when you first got the truck and it was very informative and honest. After the video ended, this video popped up and it provided me with the review I've been looking for. Although reviews are often informative, they do not provide what you just gave us, a review of the customer experience with the manufacturer. Remember this if theres water in the radiator its a no go and also look up what colour coolant is supposed to be in whatever car you are thinking of buying if it doesn't match once again don't buy it those are just 2 clues the owner didn't care for the vehicle and it will have issues later

Every Ford product I've had over the last 20+ years has been problematic. From engines that just went at 120k miles (meticulous maintenance) to transmission failures at 10k. Never again.

My dad always told me, buy the simplest tuck you can stand. Modern American trucks are no longer trucks (durable work vehicles), but glorified luxury vehicles and the amount of issues they have reflects that. The irony is that Toyota seems to be the brand that best understands the expectations of truck owners from a service and reliability stand point. Owners want a reliable capable truck, and straight forward honest customer service when things go wrong. I think American truck companies are about a generation away from being in really really bad shape, and we're already starting to see the cracks.

Even more ironically, Nissan seems even more in tune, offering only N/A v8 power in the Titan and not all these complex twin turbo stressed engines, and generally great Japanese durability. Now they are gonna stop making it because of misplaced big 3 brand loyalty.

@@jesseflores9087 👍 My Nissan Hardbody is very basic. Only a carburetor truck would be more simple. I like it more each year as I see these guys paying 80k for a rig that lives in the repair shop. One payment of $2500, 29 years ago. It's shocking that Nissan can't sell the Titan with their good truck reputation. I guess the big pickup boys want to pay to share misery stories about their favorite American brands.

A Custom Cab Ford meant a metal interior with a heater, AM radio, and sun visors on BOTH sides! That was deluxe. Now a Toyota Tacoma needs a POWER tailgate? Really wish my father would have saved that old 1964 F 100 for me, instead of selling it to someone who destroyed it.

Sorry about your situation. I don’t think this problem is limited to Ford. My buddy works at a Chevy dealer and has seen several quality control issues as well, including brand new engines crappin’ out do to lifter failures. Between supply chain issues and nobody wanting to work these days, I think it’s gonna get worse before it gets better. Good luck.

They have the company over a barrel because if the company fires someone, it takes months to train the next person. And there’s no guarantee that person is just as worthless as the person they fired. The market determines what you’re worth. If you’re worth more, nobody is forcing you to stay. If you can’t leave and make more elsewhere, then you’re probably at the market rate for your talent.

You don't generally see them taking these jobs, where their ideas aren't listened to or respected, and the upward mobility is either based on nepotism, luck or obliterating their integrity and creativity. Your story is nearly identical to mine. I bought a 2023 Ram with a cummins diesel in April of 2023. At 4k miles the engine went out of it. Due to time I can't tell you all that went on. Dealership was just as bad. They had my truck for 3months and wouldn't give me a loaner. When they said it was done I went and picked it up and it shook so bad and I could not keep it in the road. I took it to the Ford lot and bought a F250 with a powerstroke. So far it is amazing.

Back in 2019 I was between a TRD Pro and Raptor. Raptor was more expensive, towed and hauled less, but was a more purpose built off-road truck and for sure had a higher “cool” factor. Ultimately chose the TRD Pro for exactly the reasons you detail in your video. The Tundra has never left me stranded and has never been in the shop outside of routine maintenence. I used to be a “Ford Guy” (Mustang, Explorer and Expedition,” but I am in the Toyota camp with my third vehicle and yet to have any issues.

im toyota all the way, but they have zero cool factor these days, everything is so pointy. i've had several toyotas. i'm a mechanic and a truck driver. nothing beats toyota. there are failure points on older ones like the copper radiators but were talking 90's and older. i've put a radiator in every toyota i've owned lol. but mostly, no issues. head gasket once, door handle. minor stuff. when you consider head gaskets on american cars at the time was multiple times the cars life. not one at 200k.

I had a 6.2L Ford Raptor and this was my experience with it. Multiple electrical issues and check engine lights, but the dealership technicians took the cake. 1st time I took it to the dealer, they said it was ready and fixed. The technicians had eaten lunch in my truck. Bags and straw wrappers left inside my truck. Check engine light back on before I even made it home. 2nd time I took it to the dealer, they had it 8 weeks, and curbed my $3000 rims. Took a chunk the size of a quarter out of the brand new front wheel. Had yellow curb paint on it, same curb paint right behind the dealership. I took back my 90k Raptor unfixed, and traded it in. Never again will I own a Ford anything, or let them ever touch a vehicle of mine.

I'm not sure if you listen to Dave Ramsey....but you should my friend. I'm also not sure if you're buying on credit....but I'll tell ya....Car debt and credit card debt is the first thing we all need to eliminate from our financial burdens in order to become successful, have a good retirement and crawl out of this lower middle class hump! I will not buy another vehicle on credit......having a $800 car payment is completely foolish...buy something good, reliable and practice some sacrificial self control. I encourage everyone to listen to Dave Ramsey...you will think about money differently and start building wealth v/s going into debt for a consumer item like a car. Never again I say to the car payments! I encourage you to do the same my friend....not letting our wants exceed our needs. Take a moment as you drive through your neighborhood/community on a Saturday afternoon...with everyone's garage doors open. They're boats, jet skis, motorcycles, new mustangs and everything in between....sitting out there in front of their $400k house all being sucked dry by the banks paying interest on every depreciating thing in the yard/garage. Think about that nice new Tahoe the neighbor just bought.....$85k of consumer debt .....a $1200 car payment that could be dropped into a savings account and make them a multi millionaire by retirement. It takes sacrifice my friend...drive that old truck, be proud that it's paid for. I drive a honda element most days.....I went for a mountain bike ride with a doctor buddy of mine and he asked me "so, Josh...why in the heck are you driving this old honda when you make a good living".....he drives a brand new Porsche and a Tesla...lives in a 1.2 million dollar house in the suburbs and is in debt for everything! I simply told him "because I want to retire wealthy, not give my money to the bankers" .....he's got $2400 worth of car payments a month! That's tossing $700 in interest at the bank.....a forever middle class doctor that earns $500k per year!!! Discipline wins out every time!

I get it! I was buying my third used vehicle (20 Escape) from my same dealership (all three because of wrecks where other people ran into my vehicles).. I had taken a pic of the odometer. I had told the salesman to have a tire checked out because it looked low to me. When I went to pick it up, the tire still looked low so I made them go check it .. there was a nail in it and they were going to plug it .. I told them I didnt want a plugged tire after i had already gone around with this slimy salesman and had asked for it to be checked (was that too much??). I had to sit and wait after a long day and the things I had asked to be taken care of not! Not only that but when I went to pull away, the odometer read over 150 miles more than the pic .. when I called, the store manager kept giving me reasons for it being different than the paperwork had read (like Im a stupid female) .. I said something about the slimy salesman or someone else having used my vehicle and that I had a frickin pic of the odometer and knew what the hell I was talking about .. I was furious! I made them put another new tire on the rear of my vehicle so they would wear the same .. they never came through with the warranty they were supposed to have on those. If I hadnt been rear-ended and in dire straights, i would have cancelled and went elsewhere for a vehicle. Really great customer care for a returning customer!! Then .. there was a recall on this vehicle that said it should be checked as soon as possible because fuel could accumulate and there be a possibility of fire .. so every time I called to see when they would be able to get to it, they kept telling me they could only get so many parts and I ended-up waiting for several months before it could finally be taken care of. This vehicle has already had THREE recalls! And the 2018 I had before that had three as well by the time it was totalled in 2021. No, No more fords for me either!!

Based on my experience down here in New Zealand, the corporate cost-cutting really started to show in Ford products way back in the early 2000s. On the 2002 BA Falcon, a car once regarded as the definition of rugged Australian engineering, the four-pinion diff used for decades and capable of well over a million km, was swapped out for a two-pinion design. That was the canary in the coal mine, because quality fell off a cliff from that point onwards. The "Powershi*t" six and ten speed automatics fitted to most Fords from 2010 onwards are reliable only in the sense that they fail reliably at 100,000km. Basic cars like the Mondeo are routinely scrapped at low mileage due to these dodgy transmissions, while owners of the bestselling PX (2012-2021) Rangers have to fork out $15k+ on transmission repairs, whether automatic or manual. Across all models the explosion of electrical complexity comes with exponentially higher costs for obscure (but essential) replacement parts. Bits of plastic and interior trim that are still good on 90s Fords start failing at five years old on more recent models, betraying the planned obsolescence inherent in their design. It is very sad how the big US carmakers have squeezed their customers for every cent they can and rewarded loyalty with total arrogance and contempt. Henry Ford is rolling in his grave.

I can agree that ford went downhill but not in the ba era it was when they went to rangers and it's got worse from then on and when I heard they were merging with vw I thought that's going to be one major shitbox and it seems I was correct cause there is so many branndew cars with major failures in less then 50k. I've had fords upto 800k on the clock and my ba has 380k on original motor never been opened and rarely serviced and it still keeps going.

And me getting to 330k in a VW seemed great until the emissions from my car started trying to kill people. Running and running well are two very distinct things. People get so proud of higher mileage. The Japanese know the way. They have laws that say to get higher miles cars OFF THE ROAD ...PERIOD.

Your video is spot on. Come December 11th our 2018 Ford F-150 will be in the Ford dealer service shop for 4 months. We are having the same issues. First 2 months, they can't figure out what's wrong. A month later, "Oh we think the problems are from a lightning strike, you need to file a claim with your insurance company." At first all parts and repairs were being approved through the extended warranty. Well, the problem overall has been waiting for parts, which take a minimum of one week to arrive. The PCM finally came in and was replaced but now it's a fuel pump and accelerator issue. We are so irritated by this whole thing. We will never purchase another Ford vehicle, ever. So , I feel for you.

I can relate to your issues. Bought my 2018 F150 w/ 3.5 V6 new, have had cam phasers replaced, entire transmission replaced and continue getting poor mileage! Dealer was no better than the one you talked about, in their defense Ford has the dealer by the balls. Hope you can finally get some sort of resolution with Ford. Reminds me why in the 60's why those of us who had muscle cars stayed away from FORD: Fix Or Repair Daily.

I agree 100% and this is not a new problem. In 1991 I bought a new F250 and it was a POS from day 1. Constant breakdowns and terrible dealer experience and service even under warranty. Finally in late 1997 I traded it in for a new 12 valve Cummins Ram the last year of that engine. I take care of my gear, and 26 Alaska winters later it’s still my daily driver. I’ll never own another Ford product.

I have 2019 ford ranger. The truck has been great. Not one thing has gone wrong since I bought it new. It still runs and drives like new. Really sorry for your experience. I am glad mine has been much different.

While traveling through Southern Illinois with my family, we saw a car sitting on the street (across from a used car dealer). It had lemons stuck all over it, and the guy held a sign saying 'Come see my lemon'. We ate lunch and when we came back out to continue our trip, the car was in the car dealer's lot with the hood open. It doesn't take the internet every time!

Nothing beats advertising. Many years back I had a friend that bought a brand new Chrysler New Yorker. It spent most of the first year in the shop, He kept returning it for the same things over and over. At 18 months old, it was still f**ked up, and the dealer wouldn't do anythng. He still had his old car because of the unreliability of the new one. Where he lived, there was legal parallel parking in front of the dealer available 24/7. He parked the New Yorker there and painted lemons all over it. They called the cops, but the cops told them it was legally parked and there was nothing they could do. It sat there for over 2 months. The dealer finally gave in and gave him a brand new one just to get him to move it.

More than 20 yrs ago , Our mercury villager was in & out of Ford shop . They fix , we drive , we return , They fix , After the 5th, A young apprentice was risking his job, Come out afterward , And told me, There's no need to return for service, We just spray , clean wipe, the exygen sensor , and you're paying too much for a 10 min clean job. He suggested , buy a used sensor, it could last better than the faulty sensor we got there. We did , drive 3 more yrs, and retire her as spare for occasional use. Lesson learned , Dealership service shop are CASH COW, and FORD motor didn't even response to my complaint of this practice . Both Ford & dealership 23:05 lost my business forever

​@@enzoh7763this is likely true I don't use them for anything I do my own work and own research when something is wrong I'm an enthusiast who mods cars to go faster. Relying on the dealer to fix stuff for you isn't smart and this is proof of what I already believed. I think this happens far more than some wanna admit. Using dealers for maintenence and to fix things isn't a good idea imo and could be the majority of people's issues. I have a 2016 fiesta st 1.6 ecoboost since new it's dead reliable at 120k I've always maintained it though and I do my own work never rely on dealers for anything. Mine is modified making 60% more hp than stock has been since 40k and tuned since 2800 miles. Now see l beat it alot but don't beat it cold and always maintain it properly. Having a basic understanding of how vehicles works helps alot actually. Too many are clueless and have to rely on terrible modern dealers it's no wonder people have issues. Many don't have basic understanding of how they work and skip out on maintenence.

Thanks for relating your experience, as I had been looking at Ford to replace my 1998 Chevy K1500 Work Truck (which has been a money pit since day one). Current Chevy problem is ABS sensors that my local independent shop wants $400 to $800 to fix depending if the wheel hubs need replacement. Simple solution, pull the ABS fuse and ignore the ABS and brake warning lights on the dash. Brakes still work fine, just like on every car I've ever owned before ABS became popular. Not sure when, or if, I'll buy a new truck, but one thing is certain, it will not be American made.

I'm with you brother! I've had five Ford super duties and after 2009 I will never buy another one....... I use my truck to plow snow and can't be without it but it seems that's all I ever did, was be without it .. the exhaust manifolds rotted right off it in 36000 miles, the catalytic converter had to be changed at 42000 miles, just to name a few of the many things that went wrong with this truck... I swear I will never buy another one... I went out and bought a Toyota and I have never looked back... It was painful to watch your video, my guts tightened right up when I heard your story because I was reliving my nightmare all over again........ I will never own another Ford product.......

I have Model A Fords which are over 90 years old and I can get about any part in a few days, I think the key is to have a vehicle that is old enough to be outside of the Ford dealer system and still simple enough to repair. I'm not saying get a model A as it won't do what you need, but it is amazing that a vehicle that old has suppliers and parts after so long, it comes down to people who care verses those who don't.

I feel your pain brother. Having worked in the industry i can tell you that ALL manufacturers are under the same pressure. Supply chains bring in the parts and the end products are Assembled in the USA. The fancier the vehicle, the more challenging the procurement. I wish there was a better path way. Solution? Make trucks, trucks again. Get rid of this useless over engineered garbage. Put a plain 6 speed mechanical transmission with ZERO electronics in it. Same with suspension and many other functions. Hand crank windows, cable parking brakes , etc.

Bought a new Tacoma in 2015. Aside from regular oil changes and routine maintenance (and little of that is required) I’ve had absolutely NO issues. Ultra reliable, I could take it across the country today with utmost confidence.

Think about it for a sec... who is a car manufacturer's customers? It's really easy to assume that it's the car-buying public but it's not. The manufacturer's customers are the dealerships. And when they purchase new vehicles to turn to sell to the public, do you think they would want something that makes them 15-20% profit once every 10-15 years with maybe $300-400 per year in ongoing maintenance? Or do you think they would want something that could draw in $1500-2500 per year in repairs and have to be replaced in 6-8 years? The fact that the dealerships then get to point fingers at the manufacturers for shoddy design and build quality rather than as a complicit partner in pushing the industry into a dumpster and setting it on fire, just isn't right. There needs to be systemic reform.

I am sorry about your ordeal with Ford and I pray for you and your family. I have had similar experience along with a short tempered customer service representative. The latest issue was with my Ford Mustang GT year 2005. This is a gem. I suspected on might have an issue so I made an appointment and dropped it off. It sat there for 2 1/2 weeks before they got to it. then he discovered it was a matter of some glue loosening up and that held a small plastic part. I went to pick up the car after calling almost daily, and dealing with the irate customer service representative. Now my car is a classic there has been all tricked out, his less than 30,000 miles on it, and a spotless. When I picked up the car, it was obvious they had been kept outside. It was covered with mud. You can see where they use the windshield washer to clear the windshield so they could see out when they bought the car upfront. There also was mud in the carpet from their boots. I was pretty upset, but said nothing when I got home, I called the service manager who said to me “yeah, that sometimes happens.“ he did offer for me to bring it back and let him hand clean it. I responded that they would never touch that car again. It is the worst service I have ever had and not the first time at that dealership.

I am reminded of the movie "Office Space" - "I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. (frustrated) Can't you understand that? (yelling) What the hell is wrong with you people?!?!?!" Similar experience, my wife had a 1990s Chevy Cavalier - had a recall for a defective hazard light switch, which if you turned on the hazard lights would make the whole rear-end go dark (no brake lights, no turn signals, no hazards - nothing). Brought it in to the local Chevy dealer as directed by the recall LETTER FROM GM - parts supervisor said there was no recall for the vehicle in his system (first bad sign). Figuring I'd just have the switch replaced out of pocket and then go after GM for the cost directly - I put it in with the specific instructions "replace defective hazard light switch as per recall", and signed the quote. Four days later (should have been a one day job), got a call from a tech saying "the rear bulb sockets were bad and that's why the rear hazards weren't working". Well I've worked on cars my whole life and had just finished an Electrical Engineering degree - and the brake lights use the same filament and contacts in the sockets as the hazards, and THEY WORK when the hazard light switch is off. Explained this to the tech and he swore up and down that he would need to replace the whole rear wire harness ($2,700!!!!!!!!!) and it would take a week. I told him "no, close it up I'll be there to pick up the vehicle in 20 minutes, stop all work". When I got there I had to deal with an angry service writer, who REALLY wanted to have that wire harness put in. They said they couldn't give me back the car in its condition - to which I demanded they show me "what the hell they did to our car?!?". When they walked me out, all they had done is pull the tail light housing off the car and stick multimeter probes in the sockets while the hazard light switch was on - that was the total extent of their "diagnosis". The single simple instruction on the work order would have told a compentent tech everything they needed to know, but they went fishing in a poo lagoon and were ready to eat what they caught until i told them it was sh_t. I told the service writer the tech had five minutes to put the car back together because it would take me 2 minutes, and I was taking the car. He said he had to charge me $200 for the diagnosis and the labor - to which I said, "no - since you didn't do the work requested and went off on your own to do this other work it was not in the agreed quote, that and the diagnosis was not worth anything because it was facially WRONG". I plugged one of the bulbs the tech had on the trunk into the dangling socket and had my wife push the brake pedal and the bulb lit. Staring both the Service Writer and Service Tech "The same bulb, socket, wiring harness is used for both the brake lights and turn signals AND the hazard lights - the only place there is a change-over is internal to the hazard function switch, which I did ask you to change and you have't - you have 4 and a half minutes to finish putting the car back together or I'm calling the Sheriff and a tow company to come seize the vehicle off your lot, and then we'll figure this out in court". They had it done in 6 minutes... probably just to give me the finger. I took the car and a replacement switch I sourced to an independent mechanic I've used now for 25 years, and he had the part changed in an hour - and he had to pull the steering wheel, with an airbag. He makes his money by doing a lot of cars and not having them come back for mistakes - and his "advertising" is existing customer word-of mouth. Here's the most f'd up part of the story though - my parents were very good friends with the family/owners of the dealership - they sat together in church every week. Until that happened (no w they don't even go to the same church) - and then about 10 years ago GM restructured their dealerships during bankrupcy and that one lost its franchise. It's true what they say - in life you need a good Doctor, Lawyer, Mechanic, Banker, and Locksmith.

This appears to be happening with all truck companies. I dreamed of owning a mustang growing up. But now that I'm a homeowner and mid 30s living in Chicago, I now want a pickup truck. Way more convenient given our weather and the extra cargo space comes in handy. Seeing truck prices cost the same as a house down payment while the quality and reliability are going down the drain, it's depressing. I don't see myself buying anything new in the near future.

Unless you really need a truck--look at a Honda ridgeline or santa cruz from hyundai.I have had 4 fords in my lifetime and all were in the shop at some point and 3 leaked oil and never solved.I had a honda crosstour for a decade and only tires oil filters and air filters were all it needed--at 30k the brake pads were still at 60%.I have had a stinger and now a Kona N and the Kona was in for a dct software update and other then that 30 minute fix none of the hyunda --kia products were ever in the shop.But ford and dodge are known to use very cheap parts in critical areas and they usually fail rt out of warranty or they simply fail and the dealers tell you its out of warranty and fight you.

My lone experience with Ford other than a 1996 stick shift explorer for 18 years which did really well actually I put that thing through the absolute the ringer and stuck with me through 245,000 miles. I have a 2018 Ford Mustang, GT with a 10 speed auto; it is always shifted rough from park to first gear and at 42,000 miles my valve body in my transmission gave out. Other than that the cars performed flawlessly; ford does need to work out the kinks in the 10 speed.

To be fair, vehicles in the 80s needed a transmission at 80,000 miles. The vehicles (all Fords: 92 Explorer, 95 F-250 [gasoline], 93 F-150, 94 Expedition, 2001 F-350 [7.3 Powerstroke], 2004 Escape, 2007 F-150, 2008 F-150, 2011 Edge, 2012 Escape, 2014 Flex) my family of five has owned for the past 20 years have all gone well past 300,000 miles with very little unscheduled maintenance. Due to high spatial tolerances with better metals and lubricants, cars are arguably better now than at any time in history. But Ford SERVICE? Well, let's just say that I'm glad I know how to provide my OWN service rather than depending on these ass-clowns.

I hate to piss on a company across the board but every Ford I ever had (all 7 of them) all had issues in short order and they were all new vehicles. The last one I bought was a Ranger. A base truck in 2004 that was being built in that format for years. Such a simple design. My gas filter fell off riding down the highway. I dropped a tank of premium fuel and sputtered to a stop. The odometer was at 4k miles. My next vehicle was a used Tacoma. Had not bought a used car in decades up to then. Been with Toyota ever since. I believe here in America we have the knowledge and ability to build the very best. We lack the desire and the right leadership. The CEO's of American car companies are making millions.

I bought a used Ford 150 XLT Super Crew a few years back. It looked like new inside and out. I loved that truck.. Shortly after I bought the truck, I started experiencing transmission problems. I took it the local Ford dealership and they said they found nothing wrong, it worked just fine. I then looked on the internet an found a service bulletin about the problem I was having. I took the truck back to Ford and told them about this bulletin, even gave them the bulletin number. I went to pick up my truck and they told me there was nothing wrong with my truck. I live in Kentucky..... I took my truck on an extended trip to Arizona. I had multiple problems with the transmission, some even required that I pull off of the highway, shut the vehicle off and restart it in order to get it to move again. This was three days of pure hell on the road. I got to Arizona and took the truck to a dealer there and described my problems. They said " Oh yes, there's a service bulletin on that, we'll order the part from our Memphis warehouse and fix it for you".They did. The truck worked fine after that, and to this day I've no more transmission problems with this truck. The Dealer you take your truck to is of paramount importance. Some dealers are not justified in taking up the real estate space their dealership sits on. I too will never again buy another Ford product,..... unless I'm living in Arizona at the time.

As a former employee of one of the largest auto manufacturing companies out there Nissan. I can say that most if not all companies operate the same way ford does as far as who makes the components that go into their vehicle. Nissan currently only makes their own frames and metal body panels. And SOME of their own engines. Literally everything thing else is made by another company makes parts for Nissan as well as other manufacturers. For example I currently work for a company that produces steering columns for Nissan Toyota Lexus Subaru and rivian.

The second gen and third gen Tundra's are rock solid, my only advice if you're looking at getting one it to get one with the max tow package. The max tow package comes with 4.30 gears in the axles and pulls just about anything I have put behind mine (2010 4x4 5.7l Double Cab SR5 with 4.30's axles with 300k on the clock). If you aren't in a hurry and can drive 60mph with out going insane it can make over 20mph with those axle ratios.

My brothers own a garage and they absolutely love it because they are in business because of them. In past years I owned 3 Expeditions and an Escape and was always spending a lot of money to keep them running. My brothers recommended a Toyota. I bought 5 years ago a used 2010 Toyota Sequoia with 160,000 miles for $25,000. The truck now has 212,000 miles and does not burn any oil. The crazy thing is 5 years later, 14 years later, I can still get what I paid for. All this to say that I am done with Ford.

I feel your pain, I'm going through much of the same with my $74,000 F-150 Tremor, nothing but problems with this truck. It's been into the dealer twice and told it was fixed just to find out it wasn't. It's going in for a third time and if every issue is not fixed I will be calling ford and possibly filing for the lemon law. It's a 2022 with 47,000 miles now but baught it new with 3 miles on it. I've had 4 F-150 trucks and Ford's all of my life, I'm 58. This will be the last Ford product I buy. As for the loaner vehicle, the first time they did rent me a car (not a truck) the second time they loaned me a truck with about 100 miles on it and it had a seriously bad vibration but I drove it anyway. I have been told when I take it in again there will be no loaner vehicle so I'm expected to walk, borrow a vehicle, ride one of my motorcycles or rent. Completely lost my future buisiness and trust. Oh they did say they would give me a ride home if I live within 20 miles, guess what, I live 25 miles away, guess they will stop at the 20 mile mark and just drop me at the side of the road.

That's terrible. My experience with Ford has been the exact opposite. I've owned a number of them over the years and had almost no issues and really excellent service when we needed it. We also have a fleet of them at work and they are super reliable. South Dakota is really hard on vehicles and the F-150's especially have been phenomenal.

Yeah, the vast majority of Fords and Chevy's will run right into the ground as long as you maintain them properly. 500K plus miles with no problems other than Oil changes, brakes, fluids, etc. These stories about his Raptor though, sadly are becoming more common on all sorts of makes and models. With all the tech we have today, one would think this would be a thing that'd get better and better over time.

I had a Ranger, just out of warranty it needed a wiring harness. The dealer told me it was installed under instead of on top of the motor but Ford refused to warranty it. I even called Ford who offered to sell me a service contract AFTER I paid for the repair since they wouldn't cover it i told her there will never be another Ford at out house. I had it fixed, immediately traded it in. There are 3 new Chevys in my garage now.

I have a 2016 5.0 with 150k mikes. Owned since new and have literally done nothing but oil and brakes and a coolant y connection (small leak). I drive hard, tow way too much for a 1/2 ton and hunt. Maybe it’s a 2018+ issue but honestly I couldn’t ask for it to be more reliable. I’m leary about getting a 2018 or newer.

You have the last of not only the good f150s, but I would say the last of any of the good domestic trucks. Hemis have never been good I think we can all admit that, Silverado’s went down after AFM and 6 speed trannys, and Ford in only the way Ford can do..ruined a great engine being the 5.0. It’s pretty much the Tundra at this point…the most American made truck is actually Japanese and that right there shows why our country is in free fall.

Pre-2019, it was the eco-boost. Post-2019, its everything. I also have a 2016 with a 5. Although I've only had it for 2 years, I don't think the truck itself has had any issues. Ford has had hit and miss problems with the eco boost since almost day 1. Only the 2.7 has been somewhat trouble free, and that isn't absolute. The bottom line: DO NOT buy a domestic truck. I wanted a Tundra but couldn't find one and lucked out on mine. I have a warranty that covers me through at least 5 years of ownership. If I have any issues after that, I'm dumping it.
