This. The difference in atmosphere between Twitch and KZbin streams feels so jarring to me. A bunch of little things about Twitch such as the way emotes are implemented, the userbase slang, or the VODs expiring bother me enough to find it unappealing. The only thing I like about the Twitch culture are the raids.

You have to manually, in your twitch settings, click the button to allow your streams to become vods. It isn't set to save them by default. However, even if you do that, the vods will be removed overtime - I think it's within two weeks or so. So to forever have them for new viewers to see, you need to download the hefty VOD file and upload them to your youtube. So they are not lost to the unknown void of twitch. I do think it's weird that twitch has this sort of deadline/time frame and will not forever store them. And, uploading them to youtube can be a pain. I gave up doing that since it often told me a 3hr long VOD was too large to upload.

Thats why i stopped watching twitch. It doesnt save the vod and i have a job and a normal life. I cant drop everything to watch a streamer. Add in streamers getting kicked in the teeth while having no algorithm to promote then and it is a wonder why people use it. I only watch streams in youtube of vods uploaded to youtube.

Twitch isn’t painful. If you are interested. Try just watching as a viewer. The twitch talk is different. Vods do save on your channel but there is a limit of vods, how long they stay up depend on your status on twitch. So that’s why ppl reupload the vod on their YT channel. Prime sub is given to you if you have Amazon prime. You get to use it on any channel for ad-free. Chat offer better moderation. Your mods can do more to help out in chat. Channel points is for you to earn on a steamer to redeem for whatever rewards the streamer have. So you can highlight, send a message in sub mode if channel is in sub only chat, customize an emote. Don’t be discouraged with twitch because most comments saying don’t go over. Do what’s best for you. Do research. What you hear/told about something might not be true as they didn’t fully research the info. People complain about the recent ad changes but don’t realize that some platforms already have that in their TOS. It’s just twitch decided to do what other platforms were already doing. There always pros/cons of different platforms. With YT only thing that is a pro is you can rewind live streams. Cons: streams lags way to much. Which can either cause the stream to pause and you will be behind more than 15 mins+ of the live stream. Then when you move the bar back to live it can either stay or restart the stream back to the beginning. You have to deal with this a few times before it actually stays at the live section. Chat ui isn’t good. Mods have less control over chat. Can’t listen to the stream in the background unless you want to deal it with constantly stopping every few minutes to hit play. Or pay for premium monthly. Add a channel membership it’s more. With twitch you can have it in the background and it won’t stop playing unless you have an app that pause the stream so the new audio will play. Everyone views twitch differently. I view it as a place to watch streamers. I don’t pay attention to the new stuff added on either platform. Unless it’s something the mods need to know for twitch. Only reason I would know what’s going on is when two YT channels I follow end up talking about it. People will always complain about anything that involves changes. Some might be good changes but you will still have a group that will complain. About anything. You can’t please everyone. As I said. Do what’s best for you. Do research.

Twitch doesn’t save vods. It only stores them at max 60 days for affiliates and partners. Otherwise, you’d have to manually save them as highlights if you want them on your twitch page. You also forgot to mention the barrage of ads you are met with before and even during stream. Don’t get me wrong- Twitch use to be the premier streaming platform , but it’s slowly becoming painful for both the viewers and streamers.

Twitch is Twitch. You can rewatch streams. Bits are donations, which translates from 1 bit to 1 cent. Ads are... yeah. Channel points are for viewers that watch live streams (You usually get 10 points per 5 minutes of watch time. A chest for 50 points every 30 minutes of watch time. There is also points for top donator and for following). Channel points are for the viewer to interact with the stream. I've seen redeems set up for soundbits, for making the streamer take a break and drink some water, and more. If you need to know more, then just ask your viewers (like on youtube).

I know how to explain ‘points’ on Twitch. Channel points, or more commonly known as points, are a currency used on little pointless things that the streamer puts in the stream and you can earn them from existing in a stream. These pointless things can range from having a cool coloured name to unlocking an emote to making your statement sound look like a donation all the way to the famous ‘HYRDATION TIME!’. These, of course, do *NOT* pay the streamer and is only a reward for people who have either subscribed and waited or just waited.

Twitch bits are basically like twitch’s virtual currency that you can cash out, or donate at any time, one bit is one cent and channel points are like little rewards you get for donating, subscribing or gifting, a sub or just watching a stream, which allows you to interact with the streamer more by doing things, such as making them drink, water or redeeming, a sound alert when you don’t have any bits, another one that streamers like to add, is allowing you to gain a random sub, only emotes or one of your choice if you pay more channel points if you pay in amount in between those channel points usually they have this as an option so that viewers don’t feel left out when it’s emotes the inbetween channel points reward basically allows you to pick an emote but in turn you have to choose in a fact, such as black and white, sunglasses, thinking, and reverse image
