A good positive for the s3 compared to the s4, s6, and even s5e is the fact that the screen falls under the size of 10.1 or smaller. The updated versions have a screen size of 10.5 so Microsoft's apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc) require an office 365 subscription whereas devices with a screen size of 10.1 or less can use the apps for free. More productivity power to you.

@@yoann_m491 You can look it up for yourself if you really need proof. It applies to not just android devices either. You can download the mobile version of office 365 apps (such as Word, PowerPoint, etc) on Window 10 devices from the Microsoft Store and if your screen is 10.1 inches or less, you can use the software without needing an Office 365 subscription. So take the Gen 1 Surface Go which only has a 10 inch screen. It is able to use the full mobile version of Office 365 applications without needing a paid subscription.

@@yoann_m491 I'm pretty sure this rule came from the netbook days, this was also the case for windows 7 starter edition. Microsoft wouldn't provide windows for free on devices larger than 10.1 so years ago there was a flood of tiny intel atom laptops

Here's a bit of advice, whatever you do PLEASE do not upgrade your tablet to android 9/one UI as the UI will lag so bad and where the battery life will be abysmal

Update: I did end up buying it and it's a massive improvement. Using the pen to draw on it feels completely smooth. I don't get lag hardly ever. Battery lasts for a lot longer than S3. Sounds really good.

I got mine soon after the s4 came out. It's slowing down a little bit but still not enough to justify switching. I do like that the newer tabs have less bezels and a similar navigation bar as the phones do now. But I think I'll stick with the S3 until it gets unresponsive to the point I have to switch.

Unfortunately you're right. First, reset tablet and then install only essential apps for you. (And you may use a good microsd card to install big data required app to there). Because main storage and ram is not sufficient up to date data / apps. Second solution is buying an s7 or s7+ :)

That's where custom ROMs come in handy. They're essentially unofficial android OSs by 3rd party developers. Usually these days there are really good guides to upgrade to such custom ROMs although you have to be careful. It gives new life to old devices.

Does the One UI update include gestures on this even though this has physical buttons? I was always curious how that works on devices that have One UI but have hardware buttons like the Note FE. Currently rocking the Tab S6. It's so thin, light, and nice.

I just upgraded from s3 to s6 and bought 4 samsung Tab S5E for my family. I dont see much difference in the display between the s3 s6 s5e. The only thing i noticed was that the S6 loads things half second faster than the S5e and 1 second faster than s3.

My tab select is still fine and as quick as my note 10 plus as long as I don't limit the cpu usage to ‰70 via the tab s2 power savings options. I'm loving the fact that the we has 2 Little pegs on the back of the tablet where the case literally snaps into, I don't know any of tablets that do this and have a case that feels so secure. I will be upgrading soon though, probably the tab s3 as I love using the spen.

I'd pick the iPad Pro. It's definitely more powerful and better catered for productivity. Plus, it'll still be updated years from now when support for the Tab S3 shouldn't be available anymore.

@@TechSummitTV so update, I got a tab s3 for a steal for $189 with smart case. I had the chance to test iPad pro with Apple pencile. I Did not like the pencil co pared to the spen. It felt unbalanced and clunky... maybe bc it was first gen. But what I decided in my head was I will use this until they come out with an iPad mini or 9.7 pro that supports 2nd gen Apple pencil. If I don't have a good time with the s3 then I will go to iPad. But as long as this s3 runs COD mobile without lag then I'm Good. Of course, it ran better on ipad though.. Just seemed smoother. Have you updated your tab we to android 9 yet? If you have, did you have battery drain issues? I'm holding off updating until I'm sure.

I own the Tab S4 and I don't consider DeX much important. I find myself using the tablet mode almost all the time. In tablet mode you still can have multiple floating windows, use mouse and keyboard... And I prefer the bigger icons and text of the tablet mode. In DeX everything looks too small on this 10.5 screen. I think DeX only shines when you connect to a external monitor for dual monitor setup. I was using a Tab A 2016 and my experience was overall similar, so I think the Tab S3 is a great device too.

It is a nice tablet that I have had since 2018 but since the OneNote has been lagging the s pen (making it hard to take notes in class) and the keyboard case has a really cheap pen holder. However, typing has been solid and so has the s pen for the most part. -July 2021

Bought my tab s3 in August 2017. Unfortunately it doesn't turn on, and doesn't charge anymore. I was just using it last night, watching a series, it restarted out of nowhere, kinda heated up a bit, and now it won't work anymore. I'm very disappointed about it, because I took really good care of it hoping it will last til my medschool. Had it looked up, and they said there seems to be a problem with its battery or software. I really loved this tablet, really powerful and beautiful, but it broke within barely 3 years of moderate usage. Yes moderate usage cause i have a phone(which I use more often) and a laptop. Any help or suggestions? P.s. this kinda made me wish I bought the ipad pro of 2017. I'm so jealous of my peer's ipads from waaaay back early 2010's and still works great.

My Tab S3 is rebooting and freezing all the time. I have deleted the cache and installed older firmware with odin with the stock firmware from samobile. Still having the freezing and rebooting problem! To add no third party apps are installed. I thought it might be the battery but the battery holds a good charge and doesn't appear to be degraded that much. Anybody else having this problem?

I have a Tab S4 and I don't need to upgrade because : - It have 256GB of storage - It runs everything fine (or even great) - It will get Android 10 - It have a headphone jack and a flash - It still have a fantastic display, also the same size and res as the S6 - It have a big battery and a great battery life, even with the 85% battery safety option enabled - It was expensive when I got it No need to upgrade. They stopped doing even security updates in mid-2019. If you're savvy, you can go on XDA and install lineageOS with Android 10. A few things don't work though, but it is faster than the stock OS. I did it because security updates are important. I really wish Samsung kept their stuff updated - the hardware is still amazing.

i have the tab s3 and like it, considering the s6. The 5 things that make me consider it; 1.screen size, 2.glass back vs metal back... im too scared to use my s3 without the case, and in it makes it bulky, 3. i got the original s3 with 32gb memory, its vital i use memory cards. tab s6 starts at 128gb. 4.hdmi output on the s6, vs no hdmi out on the s3. i want to get into editting videos on my tablets with apps, bigger screen is always welcome, and connecting to tv for editting is welcomed also. 5. tab s6 is faster.

Tech Summit, Thanks for this video. After watching it I think I'll hold on my Tab S3 (with LTE) for longer. I have all the little issues you mentioned on the video going on with my tablet. I use it eventually for some short tasks. Maybe I'm feeling a little bit more annoyed with the issues now because of the Corona virus pandemia, yes, I have been using my Tab S3 way much more often now than before. I want to get an 8 or 8.4 inches tablet as an option to consume entertainment, as watch a movie (Netflix, Amazon), KZbin, and eventually eReader. What would be your word about. Samsung Tab A 8.4" 2020? I don't do game at all. I had an iPad mini 4th generation. The only thing I liked about it was the size and the LTE, but I couldn't get used with Apple at all, even after having it for one full year. I gave my iPad mini to my brother. The Tab A 8.4" 2020 came to my mind because it has a reasonable price and has LTE. I need LTE because I travel abroad and can not always be counting in a good Wi-Fi. The form size of it makes way much easier to hold in just one hand, and of course is lighter too. I appreciate any input. Take care. Anybody else feel free to comment as well.

I was using the 2014 Tab S T800 and I upgraded to S4 becouse I find it at 50$ The tab s t800 was still very good for youtube and online movies only a little bit slower and you need to wait like 5-6 hours to charge it to 100%

I have that tablet and when I upgraded it to Android 9 the battery began to drain faster than normal. No matter what I did, even when the tablet was turned off, the battery was draining, so I went back to Android 8 and the problems are gone. Android 9 is not good for this tablet. Stick with 8.

I have been happy with my S3 for the last 3 years until today. Must be a fluke. Minecraft updated to 1.16.0 and it performs horribly. I tried messing with settings to reduce the load, but no luck. Minecraft isn't a great game to play on a Note with the screen so small. I wish it performed better.

I prefer the aspect ratio of the tab s3 but an tired of that lag for a very long time now. I have wiped cache, factory reset and disabled garbage apps but the lag always returns after a short period. Just orederd a Tab s6 and unless I notice some kind of issue with lag on that one, the tab s3 will be gone.

i find the performance on my tab s3 very lacking and multitasking is definitely its acheles heel especially when i compare it to my OP5T. The 3GB of ram along side that outdated chip SD820 isnt rly enough even in performing basic tasks like browsing the web.

try to uninstall as many apps as possible and do weekly restart. it will help your device to speed up a bit and never overheat your device by forcing it to runs high graphics game or heavy task. i currently using tab s3 for 2 years and still going fine

Tab S3. The only Tab A with S Pen with a screen bigger than the Tab S3 is the P585 (Galaxy Tab A with S Pen) which is a great device but inferior to the S3. The new Tab A models that have S Pen are all smaller. Now they recently launched the Tab S6 Lite, but I think the S3 would still be preferable specially at a lower price.

Are you not bothered that Samsung does not update/change Android Operating System year after year in their tablets and smartphones as Apple do in their Ipad Pros and iPhone? Did you receive Android 10 update in your tab S3? Are you happy with the coordination & bonding of hardware and software in your tab s3? Are you happy that it is not having 120 hz refresh rate like Ipad Pros while watching videos and reading newspapers?

The iPad Pro is a much more expensive product which also requires that you embark on the "ecossystem" to enjoy the most. Samsung and other Android devices manufacturers don't update more than 2 iterations of Android. This is something that everybody knows these days. At least, Samsung tablets since the Tab A 2016 and the Tab S3 are very competent devices and serves well the needs of the majority of people, even without the last android version.IPads just got a decent pen a few years ago, the same for multiple apps on the screen... A decent mouse support was just offered about two months ago. Samsung tablets have these features since 2015. Apple still leads in tablets, especially in app support, but Samsung has tighten the gap. So everything is a matter of perspective.

@@sumitghoshal1792 Samsung is trying to beat Apple devices by giving more for the buck. I agree that it would be awesome if they updated their devices for longer, but no one on the Android universe does that. So stopped to expect that. For Apple is easier to keep devices up to date on software but for Samsung is probably not profitable due to the huge amount of models they launch every year. Yet, having your device been updated for 5 to 7 years doesn't grant you the best resources. If you bought an iPad in 2015, you spent all these years without a simply mouse cursor support, because this only came this year for iPad devices. It's all a matter of choices, pros and cons. iPads has lots of qualities too like better app support for example.

The tab S5 exists. It's called the Tab S5e and it was released the same year as the tab s6.

In a sense, he is correct in stating "the Galaxy Tab S5 doesn't exist", well at least "truly". Yes, you certainly are correct about the Galaxy Tab S5e and it being released in the same year. However, in my professional opinion, the Galaxy Tab S5e is a great tablet in many ways but it's lacking certain features and functionality from the other Galaxy Tabs. For example, it doesn't come with a Stylus Pen, the Snapdragon 670 CPU is a bit of a downgrade from the Tab S4's Snapdragon 835, the storage is 64gb/128gb versus the Tab S4's 64gb/256gb, the Memory Ram is 4gb/6gb (which is good) and lastly the battery is 7040mah vs the Tab S4's 7300mah. Henceforth the "e" stands for Essentials, which to be fair was targeted for the midrange budget friendly consumer. So yeah the Tab S5 does exist but at the same time is doesn't because of the downgrades. But that's my professional opinion on the matter.
