Lack of production and huge population are two major reasons of this. At present India don't have that much capability to produce things in that amount which is enough to export. We need to boost our infrastructure on a high scale to produce enough for the Population and surplus to export.

Democracy has its own pros and cons But, Absence of Capitalistic ideology pushed us decades back in the current era in the view of making India socialist with the kind of economic policies and ideology our politicians posses is doomed to fail everytime. Two major drawbacks of our nation is undoubtedly The Humongous Population and The Scarcity Of Manufacturing industries. As of now we need major reforms in order to boost our manufacturing and hopefully suppress our population bomb which is moving way higher than atomic reactions. No country listen to your deals and trade agreements if you can't provide them good business, soft policies and most importantly mobility to reach the mass. We need to reciprocate our shortcomings day by day in order to attain our expectations. It is a gradual process. Neither China became $15 Trillion economy in a Day nor India can become, we should learn from our failures and rebound for the best.

Hmm.. well maybe in 2-3 years many companies will come to India... 1.PLI scheme has been very successful(as mobile manufacturers have vowed to invest over 3 Billion dollars and aim 100 Billion exports by 2025) 2. Expressways and DFC will be completed by 2023-24. 3. Labour reforms are done(today LS passed Industrial relations code.) 4. Land banks are also being launched so that there isn't a drama over land . 5. Gov. Also proposing single window approval for companies. So..Maybe next 2- 3 years will b a game changer for the Indian economy or maybe not.
