Despite one of the biggest populations in the world, India have never reached a World Cup or been particularly competitive beyond fixtures in South Asia itself.
But recently, FIFA made the decision to ban India from football - causing 10 days of chaos in the process. This is the story behind why the AIFF was disbanded, and why such measures needed to take place.

You can critique FIFA. You can critique India. The main point is to create a fair rule for all those who are are a part of football. India had a problem. It didn’t address it in time. Now it pays a price. FIFA had problems. It was forced to solve it. Now they are fine. We need to understand that good governance is the ultimate goal. All this finger pointing is nonsense.

The whole report explains how the FIFA tries to overrule a huge country´s supreme court, and the only thing you understood was a person´s name that was involved? In Nigeria it is our belief that India was issued a hundred years ban for using black magic in their last match against Nigeria. It is believed that our goal keeper would see several lions approaching him anytime the Indian striker takes a shot at him. Nigerians also claim the scores were 99:0 in favor of India meaning the average of 1 goal per minute. Edit: The match actually ended 99:1 but the Nigerian player that dared to score against India died shortly after, from unknown complications.

It's better to mess up a club or sportsboard than a ministry. A lot of them are corrupt. But so are ex footballers. There was one who took football back decades. 3. A lifetime of playing does not prepare you for paper pushing administrative jobs. Ex players don't have skills in budget management, operations management, marketing and experience based skills. As I understand it, it's highly regional. Football is huge in West Bengal, but not quite so big elsewhere, and of course the sport that gets the kind of attention in India that football does in most of the rest of the world is cricket. That said, West Bengal alone already has a population greater than that of Germany and nearly twice that of Argentina, and neither of those countries have ever had population statistics be a problem in producing scores of quality players and achieving huge success with their national teams.
@Dev_712
@Dev_712 Жыл бұрын
@@rjfaber1991 it's indeed very true that football in India is extremely regional, but West Bengal isn't the only state which has a high potential. The problem lies elsewhere though. India lacks proper infrastructure and grassroot training programmes. The entire administrative structure is full of corrupt and inept people, with petty regional politics ruining the talented players and stunting their development. Although football is popular certain regions, it's not enough to ensure that the national leagues, clubs and the players get appropriate funds, which unfortunately is redirected towards cricket, and that in turn affects every other sport. It's very sad to see the current state of Indian football

Even if bengal has culture but most parents will not let them go into that career if they feel that isn't financially secure. @@charlasdefutbolscouting it doesn't make sense to compare countries having very different culture, geography and traditions. And as I had said, poor infrastructure is one of many problems. Secondly, for a lot of South American and African kids who play in Europe or elsewhere, football was the only way to live a decent life. If they could somehow make it to the top, they were guaranteed to live a better life. The same drive can be found in Indian kids as well, however the sport is different - it's cricket. Why? Because of the money that is invested in cricket is significantly more than that invested in all other sports combined. A professional football player doesn't even earn a tenth of the money earned by a cricketer. Add in the fact that there are differences in physical features as well. Just having a large fan base is never enough to produce quality players
