A genteel yet not particularly perceptive interviewer. When asked about judging films in this festival, I believe Ingmar Bergman answers ambiguously because he rarely modelled his film-making on other artists. This is to say suddenly being called on to judge artist’s work that he may not previously have known of, or cared for, runs counter to his self direction as an artist.
