I just did a big paper on the evolution of Music.ly to Tik Tok and here’s my take. Tik Tok wouldn’t work as an Instagram adaption and Instagram wouldn’t work with a Tik Tok adaption. They are too different of platforms. The whole idea of how users stay on Tik Tok can’t translate over to Insta. Adding photos to Tik Tok would slow down content consumption and people would get off sooner than they would if it were just photos. In my opinion, they are apples and oranges.

he didnt say losing he said losing steam. now check this out I'd normally agree with you but everything about instagram says that it does what it does for the same demo that tiktok has. instagram was "losing steam" before it was losing it to tiktok. once you see an app (website) start to turn into softcore porn with a lot of ads, the ads are more expensive to run than they ever have been, and they start to restrict people (like restricting comments that have keywords they dont like) its on its way outta here dude. when instagram got snapchat the fuck outta here instagram was still growing at a great pace and adapting for its users not itself.

People said the same thing about Facebook not going downhill. Look at it now- it's not cool and it's just used for ads. IG is owned by Facebook and is really focused on Ads. I've been having some great success on TikTok on several accounts. Organic reach is better than Instagram several years back and making content is also easier/ faster. It's so amazing and monetizable, I'm even thinking to start publishing YT content on how to grow TikTok. It has great potential and the platform is pretty easy to use.

It's not as easy as he's making out though. It's hard to get popular on tiktok. You have to make good content that works on that platform. yall really dont be in the field lol. when tiktoks go viral, naturally someone will repost it to IG. it NEVER works out well or get the same reach WITHIN the same/ identical communities that made the tiktok go viral in the first place. its bc of IG's algorithm. its shot to hell for sure. Why is tiktok so successful? which IG can never take away is because of ORGANIC REACH. it's able to reach masses quickly and for free, relevant or irrelevant to the topic of the viral tiktok. I actually want to post TikToks because I have realized that people mostly get famous there and transfer to KZbin and Instagram so I wanted to try it myself. In my country, everyone hates TikTok because mostly old creepy men and cringy egotistical teens use it so I tried myself on the international side. My whole school made fun of me and I waited a year or so for it to be forgotten. I tried again but this time, I was hiding it from my school but somehow someone stalked me and found out. I deleted my videos (I had 2 videos that had over 2K likes and 1K followers) and I never dared to post a TikTok again...

It's cool in theory but it wouldn't work if that's the only differentiator. What value does this new social network bring other than making you feel a little more special when someone mentions you? It might weed out those few friends who spam 50 baby photos in 3 minutes however this doesn't necessarily make the content "better" just less of it. What will be the format of the posts? Can you only post a single picture or multiple pictures per post? I'm assuming only one picture? Users would start using collage apps and crop bunch of pictures they want to share into one post. I totally see how Gary is thinking scarcity will force users to make better content. I don't think that would happen. I think each post would feel more valuable but I don't think it would necessarily be better content. Just my thoughts. I could be totally wrong.

This summer, while at the beach, foolin' around with my 11 year old son, after i had started my TikTok account (because of you..! ), i told my son : "Imagine if there was a social media platform that you are allowed to post only once a day" !!!!! And then, we brainstormed on it, and we even got an "algorithm" for what/who to push/help and the stories' feature, and even the logo!! Oh my God Gary, pleeease, go ahead and DO IT! This is the S*IT! jsnike91 did you watch the video? It’s not about how long Tik Tok lasts. It’s about the way you communicate to consumers and/or relate to your audience if you’re a personal brand. If you were on vine/musically and really went hard at it, then Tik tok wouldn’t be so hard to move on to just like he said with the Snapchat/IG stories example. So if Tik Tok dies, surely there will be some other platform that will be similar and if you had gone hard at Tik Tok, it will be easier to move and transition. It’s not just all about the platform itself or how long it lasts. In that sense, he can never push any platform “too much.”

9:11 I feel like that reaction from the audience on the 'Go f*ck yourself!' is actually a good tell of the amount of people struggling with being judged by others, but that's why we have GV to make that final push!!! Message for the team (filmmaker in this case): I absolutely love the fresh angles you went with from 5:35 - 9:14 and 9:35 - the end of the clip. As an idea, you could try something like filming Gary over his shoulder and the focus is on the people he is talking to in a meeting for example. I think it might be fun for the viewers to get a sense of 'Gary Vee's PoV' or 'What Gary sees' so we can also help more in the process of deciding what resonated well with people in the room. Maybe I'm a bit over the top with this comment, but I'm into psychology and decyphering humans a lot recently :D

Not just pictures(success on IG), but multi picture posts! Try posting something with 6-10 images (good content, because there is a chance the first image wont be what someone sees first). Insane engagement boost!! Why? It's similar to the results that you get from someone stopping to watch a video, but with video when a viewer stops, there's practically a 50/50 chance they'll leave in 3 seconds. With multi-image posts, if you put more than 3 images there, you automatically beat out most video posts in engagement due to swipe time. Imagine someone stopping, they don't like the first post, but there are 9 more possibilities!!! That's 9 more chances for them to think about looking at your content longer. What are the odds that they stop and stay more than 3 seconds? How fast do you personally swipe and read? Gary....I know you like this ^^

I want a platform like that, the thing about insta, facebook...tik tok or even youtube, is that you're "forced" to produce quantity in order to keep up with the competition, wich becomes overwhelming, since somebody who starts from scratch doesn't have the resources (editors, computers, multiple cameras, the eficency of teling a story) to post something great daily. The greatest thing about this idea is that creats equity!

i've worked for Tiktok and it's a bad company..i'm a Content Moderator and the way they are running things are horrible..basically, we are filtering the videos and comments from the users..however, they are only believing the judgement from their chinese q.a's even it's not correct..so what's the purpose of running the account on a different country if they do not believe and accept opinions from others??? i'd still prefer Instagram..more decent and sincere social platform.. new youtubers 2019? let's help each other grow before the year ends.. 👍
